Ring of Honor Sues Ric Flair
Posted by Larry Csonka on 01.29.2010

According to Pwinsider.com, Ring of Honor has filed a lawsuit against Ric Flair, alleging that Flair owes the company over $40,000. The suit was filed this past Thursday in Bucks County, PA.

ROH says that Ric Flair was signed to make five appearances for the company, at $10,000 per appearance. Flair did not make the appearance in Montreal in July of 2009, and failed to repay the $10,000 that was paid to him for the event. Also, the suit alleges that Flair came to terms with the company to appear in an authority figure role on the ROH TV show. Flair was paid $35,000 for the TV appearances and only made one appearance. The second taping is when Flair showed up, and made a brief announcement to the crowd that he was resigning due to his relationship with WWE.

The belief was that Flair was going to use his relationship with ROH so that his son Reid could work there and continue his pro wrestling education. Those plans never happened, due to Reid being arrested on several drug charges last year. At this time, ROH has made no official comment on the deal.

So he's paying off Earl Hebner with ROH's money. They need to write that into the storyline.

Give that company their money.Ric Flair is a bitch and it was obvious when he was with ROH, he didn't wanna be there. Is it 'cause they don't have the glitz and glamour of the WWE or Hogan running things?

Shame on ROH for paying Flair 35,000 for a TV appearance.

I forgot the ending to my Pawn Stars post. Flair gives a paying the price with blood, sweat and tears promo and drops three elbows on his jacket in the store.

Ahahahaha oh well, hey ROH instead of spending so much on Flair you could of used that money to get a REAL TV deal not on a channel that no one cares about. Then again that indy spotmonkey doesn't even deserve any air time if they're that STUPID to spend that much on Flair. WOO!!!

For someone who is as looked up to as Ric Flair, it seems very unprofessional for him to go back on his word and just take the money like it's no problem.

Posted By: Guest#3094 (Guest)  on January 30, 2010 at 12:38 AM

Look, this is easy to figure out.

Ric didn't mean to stand up Ring of Honor. He thought he was being paid to have a recurring role in a professional wrestling promotion.

Instead, he shows up at this high school gym and finds a backyard wrestling show going on.

Like every other sensible person associated with wrestling, he thought it was a complete joke and didn't think they really expected him to keep showing up there. He took the money the spotmonkeys gave him and moved on.

This is no different than if he had answered a Craigslist ad looking for "professional wrestlers". Ring of Honor is worthless. Ric Flair is more awesome in his 60s than the entire collected amount of backyard wrestlers, spot monkeys, pedophiles, smarks, and foreigners that have ever come through their high school gymnasium's doors to work, referee, or run the show. You can add in the obese nerds sitting in the aluminum bleachers and mismatched folding chairs that call themselves fans but couldn't tell you who was in the original Four Horsemen to that total, too.

Sounds like he's getting sued for a pretty simple, easily resolvable issue. I can kind of see how this guy has had so many legal problems..

Posted By: Guest#6128 (Guest)  on January 30, 2010 at 02:21 AM

GOOD! I've been wondering why they haven't been going after him for that. He completely dishonored an agreement and just took a bunch of money and ran away. He's a piece of crap and a poor excuse for a man for doing that. He's not qualified to talk about what it takes "to be the man." He doesn't know the first thing about it.

Hope ROH gets everything they are owed. Flair has absolutely no case to aruge here. He owes ROH back the money they paid him to WORK.

Ric's my favorite wrestler.. but he's totally in the wrong. He was contracted to perform a service, paid to perform said service, and then FAILED to perform that service. It should be pretty cut and dry that he owes them some money...

The beginning of the end for ROH. Serves them right for being so arrogant and elitist when it comes to this industry. In 05/06 they had their heads so far up their asses they'd never get them out. Berating "sports entertainment" all the time and glorifying "pure wrestling". Well look where they are now...hardly anywhere.

Gotta love those giving ROH shit for paying Flair so much....what do you think TNA is paying the wrinkly old ball-sack?
Knowing TNA it's even more than that...and all he's doing there is ruining AJ Styles and busting out a character that in no way suits a 60 year old man on his 18th marriage (or however many it is).

Ric Flair will show up to court with no pants ala Lionel Hutz in the Simpsons, and scream at the female prosecutor that he's gonna take her on Space Mountain. When the guilty verdict comes in he'll do a flair flop on the floor.

He'll be sent to a mental hospital.

I love how these people get on here and say this is the beginning of the end of ROH.. LOL really they are locked in a tv deal with a channel that is committed to them.... a loyal fanbase... Sorry TNA fans roh storylines and feuds make way more sense then the crap they put on every week. Also the last time i checked tna is built of spot after spot with no buildup! Flair is completley in the wrong. We all know it so stop trolling.

Last time i checked for all you tna lovers out there. Check the house show figures lol its the same as ROH! that sucks for a company that spends twice as much as them! And they actually sell tickets to their tv tapings instead of letting people go for free!

Posted By: Marv (Guest)  on January 30, 2010 at 09:47 AM

Well...as you know, RoH needs to pay Jim Cornette, Davey Richards and the 44 RoH fans still left.

I hope at least they split it up wisely. ;)

@dennett316

I'll bet you were marking out like a mutherfucker when Flair showed up for the ROH tapings.

It was McMahon that coerced him to go back to the WWE for awhile. ROH was the only promotion McMahon would let him go to. Wanna know why McMahon did that? Because NOBODY WATCHES ROH!

Question his role in TNA all you want - yes hopefully he'll actually SHOW Styles how to do an interview without looking like a boring fuck - Flair's in a more prominent position than he was during his big 'retirement' angle in WWE.

WWE could have always brought him back as......oh yes...LET'S MAKE HIM COMMISSIONER!!!! How boring!!!!!

Sour grapes much?

It's amusing that you marks also forget that Vince and the WWE was paying Flair over half a million dolllars a year. So that makes them stupid. As for the idiot that said ROH "deserved it" because they glorified "pure wrestling", wow. Thankfully, there were only a handful of marks in this blog. Real wrestling fans are coming to the reality that Flair is a bitter, broke, backstabbing piece of shit, who is approaching 60 without a dime to his name. It's pathetic that he has, in the past, ripped Bret Hart, Mick Foley, Randy Savage and Hulk Hogan, yet all of those guys are millionaires. Even after the divorce, and the lawsuit, Hogan will still be worth probably 50 to 70 million dollars. And Flair isn't going to be worth 50 to 70 cents. Hopefully, ROH and the court system finishes him off.

Somebody said something about story lines being good in ROH. I'm not sure. I'll let you know just as soon as it ever comes on a channel I can actually get.

It was pretty messed up of Flair to do what he did to ROH, but we'll just see how this plays out in court. As for judging the man, I'm not gonna pretend to know him just because I see his character on a wrestling program.

Seems people are good at getting on their high horse and kicking people when their down. Too bad that doesn't make their own lives any better.

Vince once again causes a mess in another promotion. He's good at that, but people rarely call him on it around here. Flair saw the money in WWE and pulled this move on ROH, probably because it was understodod he'd have a deal in WWE.

But, then the backlash hit. Vince didn't want to come off looking like the bad guy he was and simply told Flair he didn't need him. I suppose he shouldn't have let it be known why he was leaving ROH. Maybe then Vince would have let him in. Maybe.

I feel for ROH, because they are trying. Marquez tried hard for NWA too, but it got him nowhere. Maybe ROH will be successful. Maybe ROH should chalk this up to a lesson learned and focus on keeping the guys they have before they all go to WWE or TNA.

I used to work at one of those high interest short term loan places. At this rate, I don't even think Flair's credit report would justify him getting a loan with some of those places. Unreal!

Hey, this would not have happened if Flair and just listened to the God that is Vince when he said "people do not want to see you anymore, they want Hornswaggle". "You are going to retire with much fanfair even if you don't want to" "I will put you in the Hall of Fame, and when you are sitting at home and not working, you can look at the plaque I am gave you, its just like the one I gave Tony Atlas". "The people want Hornswaggle, they want to see Ken Kennedy as my illigitimate son, Donald Trump Umaga Lashley...." maybe it is Flair's fault this is when he walked out of the room shaking his head.

So I'm an ROH fan and a mark huh? 1) Don't watch ROH, 2) Yes, I am a mark...and so is anyone who's a wrestling fan. It's no insult, only douche bags with an inflated sense of their own importance think it is.
I never once mentioned how much he was paid in the WWE to be an active competitor. I was replying to the mouth-breathing TNA fans who mocked ROH for paying Flair so much when TNA is doing the same thing. I have no issue with what he was paid, others did, and I was pointing out the stupidity of their argument.
Also, if anyone thinks that AJ being Ric Flair Junior in ANY WAY benefits him as a performer then I'm sorry, but you're beyond help. The first thing the fans chanted when they saw him arm in arm with a couple of bimbo's was "But you're married!" The crowd doesn't buy it, and having caught a little of the promo work, I don't buy it either....it was horrible.
They're using the world champion to build to Flair vs Sting.....great! A horrible match on the last Nitro, how the fuck will it look now?
Anyway, I think we've strayed from the main point and that is that Flair is a dead beat, and with every passing day is tarnishing what little of his legacy remained.
