"AJ Styles Vs. Kurt Angle (Empty Arena Match)"

Aren't all TNA matches "Empty Arena Matches"? The have what, 200 people at thier iMPACT tapings?

That's nowhere near the 20,000 people that attend RAW and SMACKDOWN every week.

When TNA can draw 20,000 to an arena and can get a 3.0 rating AT THE SAME TIME, then and only then will TNA be taken seriously.

Even WCW could draw 20,000 people and get a rating of 3.0

You clearly haven't been to a TV taping if you think those crowds are 20,000 people.

Posted By: Guest#9933 (Guest)  on February 08, 2010 at 01:50 PM

FYI you can't fit 20,000 in the Impact zone and WWE hasn't drawn 20,000 people since they WWF days and lucky if it;s during a wrestle mania !

Raw and Smack down are lucky to draw anywhere between 7,000 to 12,00 compared to their hey day in the 90's!

And last i checked TNA had had better ratings or equivalent too Smack down and had beat ECW in the ground! Hence ECW is being extinguished

I guess you don't know as much as your shooting your mouth off too huh !?

Is that why their ratings are down and their PPV buyrates are down and their merchandise sales are down? Yeah that WWE, drawing big.
WWE can't even get 6-7,000 at their shows like they could in the 80's and 90's.

UFC is killing WWE because WWE sucks like you.

Actually SD's LOWEST RATING in 2009 was a 1.6 which is equal to TNA's HIGHEST rating ever. TNA hasn't exactly "beat ECW" into the ground either considering they usually do about the same rating.

"And last i checked TNA had had better ratings or equivalent too Smack down"

Hey, I watch Impact but I don't know what you're smoking. A 1.5 rating (TNA all-time best) isn't greater than a 1.8 rating (SD's latest low rating). SD has been pulling in 2.0 ratings lately also. So the 1.3 - 1.5 ratings Impact is getting aren't anywhere near that.

Actually WCW could drawed 60,000 for a Monday Nitro, something RAW would struggle to do.

uhh call me insane but smackdown regularly pulls in a minimum of 2.0... how does that qualify as TNA always pulling equal or better ratings????? They beat the WWE "C" show regularly though, WOOOOOWWWWWW

there was an empty arena match? And I missed it!

Posted By: Guest#3737 (Guest)  on February 08, 2010 at 02:42 PM

Dear tards, a 1.6 cable rating is not the same as a 1.6 broadcast rating. Even if they have the same rating Smackdown still would have a lot more viewers.

Posted By: DC (Guest)  on February 08, 2010 at 02:44 PM

Also, let's not forget that Smackdown is a network show and it's ratings points equate to more viewers than cable ratings.

As for TNA "killing" ECW's ratings, it wasn't even a full ratings point difference and Impact is loaded with legit main event level talent like Angle, Styles etc. It fucking SHOULD beat the WWE 'C' show, it costs them enough in terms of talent wages.
Let me put it another way - Hornswaggle on Raw has consistently outdrawn EVERY Impact segment. That depresses me, but it's worth it to show TNA fans a little thing called perspective.

Has anyone noticed that a 1.2 sometimes means 1,300,000 viewers and sometimes up to 1,900,000. So you guys keep saying , oh smackdown does 1.8 and impact 1.2, pay attention to the viewer number next time you see the ratings, you'll realize its not that big of a difference as you guys make it out to be.

Hornswoggle aslo outdraws the rest of the segments on Raw as well, forgot to mention that. Its sad when your biggest draw in your comedic segment is the only guy who doesnt talk..

Posted By: Alfredo Lara Jr. (Guest)  on February 08, 2010 at 03:08 PM

Hey now. There's not that big of a difference. I mean, it's not like TNA ever did a house show in front of 200 people or anything like that. They still make a lot of money at the gate for impact, right? What are they charging, twenty bucks a ticket?

Posted By: Anonymous (Guest)  on February 08, 2010 at 04:11 PM

Outside of Wrestlemania, WWE rarely draws over 10,000 people. And if I had a choice of attending a WWE show or a TNA show, I'd go to the TNA one. At least their crowds get into the show. The average WWE crowd sounds like they are attending a funeral.

Posted By: Guest#0886 (Guest)  on February 08, 2010 at 04:12 PM

A midget that doesn't talk draws higher ratings than anybody else in WWE. If that isn't a sign that pro wrestling is dying, I don't know what is.

I've been trying to explain this forever man, WWE's two Superstars airing combined would draw 1.2m viewers, TNA's single showing 1.9m viewers, yet the idiots would still say Superstars wins... lol

Good fuckin riddance to that no talent Steiner. Long over due.

As usual idiot TNA fans and employees spreading B.S. Most WWE TV tapings and PPV's sellout or come close. The Rumble was a sellout with 13-15,000 last week in Atlanta. Same with Raw the next night in Nashville, TNA's own backyard. House do well. TNA people are so full of B.S. Worry about your own crappy little business instead of always obsessing over WWE you d-bags.

I kind of agree. The last WWE show I went too the crowd was weird, they got into the intros but not the matches. I assume it's because there are more kids and people censor themselves maybe?

I went to a TNA show in December and my friends and I were habit SO much fun. It may have been roughly 1000 people there but the atmosphere was wild.

The idea that RAW or Smackdown do 20,000 people is ridiculous but so is "10,000 is rare." It's not. The WWE had twenty shows to do over 15,000 last year.

No they don't. Of the 23 Wrestlemanias so far, only 2 have beaten 70,000 attendance (one being WM 3 which is padded at 93k, and the other being 23 at just over 80k). Only 4 others have broken 60,000 paid. A simple Google search verified this. Check your facts before you sound like an idiot.

Reading comments on 411 is always so damn funny. So many people write in a language that resembles English, but really isn't.

And more times than not, it's TNA fans who seem to have real trouble writing in their native language.

Example: "I went to a TNA show in December and my friends and I were habit SO much fun."

Really? Please tell me how you do it, I want to habit fun as well.
Or be able to "habit" anything at all.

English verry dificutt speaki. Twoo manny vorts.

I'll miss Steiner. He was an asset as an mid-card heel.

Raw gets 10,000-15,000 every time. PPVs get 16,000 minimum. Mania getting 70,000 has become regular now. When mania goes to Dallas, it will get 90,000 plus.

WWE might not be doing as well as the past but they are still killing TNA. As far as the UFC comment, they are doing well but are just as fixed as pro wrestling and it's just a fad anyway. UFC fans will be the butt of jokes in ten years, like people who had mullets in the '80's.

Jesus Fuckin' Christ! At least the guys in the politics forum arguing over something worth debating.

It seems some of you must believe that, if the company you prefer 'wins' then you 'win'. What the fuck is the point?!

On a sidenote, Scotty had a good run that could have been great had WCW pulled the trigger and put the belt on him back in the early 90s. All hail Scotty!

I don't see why people feel the need to show support over one product. WWE has been crap for years and their supporters still feel the need to bash TNA at every turn whenever they show the slightest improvement. TNA fans shit all over WWE at every turn whenever something doesn't go right for WWE. None of you own either company or make a dime from either company .. so why hate one product but support the other?

Posted By: K. Bett (Guest)  on February 08, 2010 at 08:48 PM

More like the best of AJ and Kurt. Then some other people.

WWE may not be selling out arenas but they are making a massive amount of money. Check out their stock. They have found other ways to make money other than house shows and PPV.

Kudos to them.

scene opens, a man putting on colgne in front of his bathroom mirror. He then walks out of his apartment and begins to move on up the street. As he walks down the street, he walks into a bar, where he high fives a couple of his buddies and dances with a few ladies. Suddenly as he turns to leave, one of his buddies hits him with a chair, knocking him out and proceeding to make a long speech about how it was all an act and he was never his friend. Then he throws his buddy through the plate glass window, telling him:

"You were always the weak link in our friendship pal, I'm just cutting the dead weight."

He then turns to the camera and says:

"Swerve, the new cologne by Vince Russo"

What's worse is what people don't realize about ratings.

You know what ratings mean? Jack shit. Because only 25000 people actually have the ratings boxes.

Meaning that (of the people who mattered):

Raw with a 3.6 rating had 900 people watching.

Smackdown with a 2.0 rating had 500 people watching

Impact with a 1.4 rating had 350 people watching.

WWECW with a 1.0 rating had 250 people watching

Superstars with a 0.9 rating had 225 people watching.

That's it. The ratings are "worth" percentages (which in turn are converted to numbers of estimated viewers), but they don't actually tell what people are REALLY watching.

Which means, who the hell cares?

Also, regarding Steiner.

He has been doing a STELLAR job in TNA, actually putting on watchable matches, and has been largely entertaining (he pulled out a friggin' Frankensteiner recently). It's easily been his best work since his Steiner Bros days.

Just because WWE couldn't make him entertaining, doesn't mean TNA didn't. For all their mistakes, I've got to commend them on that.
