Various News: The Latest On WWE NXT, Dragon Gate Announces Huge 6-Man Tag Match, Scott Steiner Accepting Independent Bookings, More
Posted by Larry Csonka on 02.09.2010

- Dragon Gate USA announced their main event for the March 27th show in Phoenix. The match will be the "return" of the company's annual six-man tag, with CIMA, Gamma and Dragon Kid vs. Naruki Doi, Masato Yoshino and BxB Hulk. Tickets are available here.

- Tickets for the April 25th WWE Backlash PPV, which will take place at the 1st Mariner Arena in Baltimore, Maryland, will go on sale on March 6th. Tickets cost between $20 and $200. [Credit: Pwinsider.com]

- Scott Steiner is accepting bookings through Bill Behrens at SHOWBIS@aol.com. [Credit: Pwinsider.com]

- As mentioned last night on Raw, the current "ECW" talents will be free agents and go to RAW and Smackdown once the ECW show ends. All signs point to WWE NXT to be a reality based series, featuring new talents and some veteran talents from other brands. The veteran talents will make visits, to "mentor and or hinder" the new talents that will be introduced on the new show. Also, the veteran and bigger names will be used to draw viewers into the new show. WWE NXT debuts on February 23rd. [Credit: Pwinsider.com]

We, the cast and crew of White Collar, thank you Vince for steering viewers our way. One wonders if NBC Universal is behind this in any way to boost viewership of that show. I watch it, rather than ECW, and I used to like ECW. But, as explored in other columns this week, ECW has become a joke on itself, because the company doesn't give a damn about it. If Vince would have told Paul Heyman to do whatever he wanted with it, and Vince would sign the checks, ECW would have worked. But not Vince. His ego simply wouldn't allow it. At least White Collar is a good show.

So Tony Atlas is gonna show up and tell them that they will never make it if they tape their wrists?

I wonder what the WWE and ScyFy will do in a year from now when the ratings from NXT tank?

Speculate on the success of this show all you want, but I think it's kinda cool they're trying something radically different than just another 'brand'-type show.

I really don't want to see Tough Enough 2010.

Looks like HHH is going to be on this show doing some hindering...

Veterans are not big enough names? Oh, I get it... Matt Hardy is going to NXT alongside Jimmy Yang Wang and Funaki.

Stupid. Another one of Vince's visions that will fail again.

At first, I thought WWE NXT would be like another Tough Enough series, but right now I still don't know.

I don't get why they can't just have a draft or something to place the ECW guys...I guess they don't want to take up too much tv time with it.

So NXT sounds like....a basic wrestling show. Isn't pro wrestling basically a reality show anyway?? Just a kayfabed version of it?

I mean, is the idea of a veteran mentoring a young wrestler really the evolution of pro wrestling? It sounds like an angle from 1975.

NXT sounds fresh...

...at least for wrestling.

i wonder how hard up for work steiner is. it would be so worth a couple grand to have him break into my brothers apartment at like 3am with me and have him put him in the recliner while cutting a promo.

Ever heard of "Tough Enough"?

NXT is basically tough enough? Bring back Hardcore Holly to teach this guys a lesson and I'll watch.

Oh yeah, I know. You are so, so right. Look at how successful Paul Heyman was with ECW. Why he......oh, snap. Wait a second. He actually ran it out of business, didn't he. But, yeah, I am sure you are right. I am sure ECW would be in much better shape now had Paul been running this one also. I mean, Christian, Ezekial, Vladimir, Shelton, etc. may not have gotten paychecks, or had their checks bounce, but, yeah, Heyman certainly should have been in charge.

Moron.

Wonder how much per appearance does Steiner cost? Davey Richards makes $500 for being an Indy standout, so for being a washed up legend, Steiner would be... 800? That's not too bad, especially if you wanted to have the once in a lifetime mark-out moment of having steiner putting your brother in the recliner while cutting a promo with swears.

I'm lost or haven't been listening hard enough... If it's the last ECW coming up and Christian is defending the ECW title, what is the future for said title? Why defend a title a week before it knowingly becomes defunct? I don't watch ECW anymore so if there was an announcement, I missed it.... Help me here guys!
