Quick notes and spoilers from tonight's Impact taping:
Xplosion:
* Alex Shelley defeated the debuting Kazuchika Okada from New Japan.
* The Amazing Red defeated Kiyoshi and Homicide.
* TNA Knockout Tag Team champion Hamada defeated Traci Brooks.
Impact 2/25:
* Abyss pinned Desmond Wolfe with A Black Holy Slam. TNA champ AJ Styles and Ric Flair jump Abyss and Wolfe joins in. Hulk Hogan makes the save until Flair takes him out and all three are beating on Hogan. They handcuff Abyss to the ring and beat down Hulk, who is busted open. Abyss breaks free and runs off the heels. Hogan announced he will team with Abyss vs. Flair and Styles on 3/8, saying if Flair wants to get involved, he may as well be involved as a wrestler.
* TNA Global champ Rob Terry pinned Ken Anderson. Anderson was doing mic work before the bell, ripping on Kurt Angle and the medals. Angle snuck up from behind and drilled him with a chair. Terry then nailed a powerslam on Anderson and pinned him.
* ODB defeated Daffney by DQ when Daffney went nuts.
* They have a segment where Eric Bischoff admonishes Jeff Jarrett for not killing Abyss with the barbed wire bat, so Jarrett has been sent to go work in catering as punishment. He puts a hairnet on Jarrett's head.
* Beer Money Inc defeated The Motor City Machine Guns, Generation Me and TNA Tag Team Champions Matt Morgan & Hernandez in a non-title match. Morgan was playing a cocky heel and Hernandez wasn't happy.
Impact 3/4
* The British Invasion laid out Rob Terry after he beat Doug Williams.
* AJ Styles and Ric Flair come out and call for Hulk Hogan to come out. Hogan comes out with Abyss. The heels try to back out of the tag match by offering Hogan all their rats. Hogan says he doesn't want anything from them except to get them in the ring. He said he told the world he wasn't going to wrestle in TNA, but after what Flair and Styles did, he and Abyss have to. Flair says that if that's how it's going to be, he's going to get the one thing he never got during his full-time career, a chance to pin Hogan on national TV. He and AJ go to leave but Eric Bischoff comes out and announces Styles will be wrestling later tonight in a Four Way.
* They do a segment where Angelina Love calls out Velvet Sky and ends up beaten and whipped by The Beautiful People.
* Ken Anderson does a promo dressed like Kurt Angle ripping on Angle for being the wrestler who gets hurt the most in the entire business. Yes,. really. Angle shows up and they have a good brawl. In the end, Anderson blinds Angle by throwing something in his eyes and lays him out with the Angleslam.
* Jeff Jarrett pinned Tomko.
* TNA champ AJ Styles forced Pope Dinero to submit to a Figure Four in a 4-way that also included Desmond Wolfe and Abyss. Wolfe joins Flair and Styles in working over Dinero and Abyss tries to make the save. Flair nails him with a barbed wire bat. Hogan makes the save and uses the barbed wire bat - YES, HOGAN WITH A BARBED WIRE BAT - on Flair, to bust him open. Security and staffers hit the ring but Hogan cleans house and promises they are going to get them, on Monday. A brawl breaks out and in the end, Dinero helps Hogan and Abyss run off the heels.

I hate ripping on TNA because it feels like around these parts if you do so you just get labeled a sheep who won't give the company any credit. But I'm sorry, if TNA actually thinks that Hogan vs. Flair in 2010 is going to draw in any new fans or even make just a few people switch over from RAW then they're in major trouble. That's a ridiculous philosophy.
People want to see new, young, exciting talent.

An appearance by Tag Teams that can actually move in the ring like they arent walking through mud

Something thats missing from these reports is what is the deal with the next ppv have they announced any matches for the all X division ppv or are they editing those in? Does anyone know if they've even mentioned the show at these tapings? I'm not a complainer but what exactly is the plan for the show?
Posted By: Guest#8756 (Guest) on February 17, 2010 at 01:52 AM
this doesn't sound horrible, yeah hogan & flair wrestling is shit but i dunno, sounds more entertaining than most of wwe right now, and i'm not really mark for any, i can barely watch any wrestling show these days. CM punk, Christian, Jericho and Edge are the only things i can handle these days on the other side. At least Tna has some interesting things happening.

And a big fucking LOL at Kennedy for making fun of someone for getting hurt a lot.

"Flair says that if that's how it's going to be, he's going to get the one thing he never got during his full-time career, a chance to pin Hogan on national TV."
Flair did pin Hogan on national TV, on an episode of Nitro in January 1996, Flair faced Hogan one on one and Flair used Miss Elizabeth's shoe to blind Hogan and get the pin.

Well i'll be tuning in 3/8 hoping Hogan's leg breaks in half the way sid vicious did back in the day :) fuck i thought it was bad when nastys were getting pushed, 70 yr old Hogan as TNA's equivalent of Super Cena isn't making it easy for me to watch ((And yes i know it hasnt aired yet, but i think i'll feel worse after i see it)) TO DIXIE::: so this is what's gonna make me be proud to be a wrestling fan???REALLY???

So is Hogan really going to try to put Abyss and The Pope over as top faces or will he go into Lockdown to win the TNA world championship? I hate to be pessimistic but I'm pretty sure it's the latter.

"Flair says that if that's how it's going to be, he's going to get the one thing he never got during his full-time career, a chance to pin Hogan on national TV"
Flair has pinned Hogan a few times on TV - two come to mind:
Uncensored 99 when he won WCW title from Hogan and on Nitro during one of his reigns with Woman (RIP) and Elizabeth (RIP) in early 96 courtesy of the high heel shoe.

The only good thing is the whle Angle/Anderson feud.
Is this ironic or probably on purpose that Anderson trashed out Angle by calling him the most injured guy in history while Anderson is a living injury by himself ?
Posted By: Nick Nemeth (Guest) on February 17, 2010 at 03:27 AM
Not usually a TNA hater, but aren't they completely recycling the Kennedy/HBK storyline from a couple of years back with Angle in the HBK role.
Thats my only major issue with TNA, they pretend to be all superior and purely about the wrasslin then use knock of version of old sports entertainment storylines from the E.
And Hogan back in the ring...hands up who didn't see that coming!

Looks like they are going to push Abyss to the top. What happened to Joe, Desmond Wolf and Daniels? Guess they are no longer considered to be main-eventers by the new staff. Although Wolf is allowed to play in a guest role in AJ's storyline.
At least there were 2 positive things at this taping: Daffney going nuts, and Beer Money winning again.
Posted By: Guest#1072 (Guest) on February 17, 2010 at 06:50 AM
Why can't they just reunited the ORIGINAL Beautiful People now? We all want to seehat. This new version of them is a complete joke. Lacey adds nothing to them and they can't be taken seriously as heels. They would if Angelina Love became leader again, the way it should be.
Lacey is just another Rhaka Khan.

Posted By: y2jabba (Guest) on February 17, 2010 at 07:22 AM
Ok so here are just a few things I see wrong with this. Rob terry being made to look superior over Brutus and doug williams when everyone knows the latter two have bags more talent. 2010 and Flair and Hogan about to step into the ring again and take up the spotlight from the tna originals. The x division seems to have been forgotten about with nothing interesting going on there. The humiliation of someone who founded the company and why is styles now using the figure four he is not ric flair let him be himself. TNA is virtually dead to me and I wanted it to succeed so much.

First half of this taping looks decent it always the second taping that has me wanting to see how it goes on television when it airs. I know Flair is influencing AJ but he shouldn't be using the Figure 4 just doesn't seem to be a part of his arsenal to use even as a heel.
Hogan is trying his best to stay out of the ring though but with this move to Mondays it was unavoidable.

this doesn't seem all that bad. Beer Money is finally getting some airtime, Flair-Hogan looks bad on paper, but at least they're helping give guys like Abyss, Pope & Wolfe the rub by involving them in the feud. I like the way it looks like Wolfe is being moved into an alliance with Flair/AJ - maybe they'll be building a new Horsemen-type stable with TNA's best young heels?Anderson-Angle will be a decent program if Anderson can hold up his end in the ring.

Well, he really isn't, dude.
All you criticising Hulk for getting into the ring, you're failing to realise this has practically nothing to do with Hogan himself. Yes, his name, fighting against a returning Ric Flair, has been made to elevate the importance of their permanent move to bi-weekly live Mondays, but the real story - the important aspect - is the involvement of Abyss, and their as-stated desire to turn him into their John Cena.
Now, scoff all you like, but they've got a lot of interest in the guy, and evidently in seeing the character freed from the masked monster gimmick. This is nothing but a good thing for yet another TNA 'original'.
Let's not act as if we even think for a second Hogan will be back in the ring on a permanent basis. This is purely to kick-start their schedule move with a bang.

The IWC or Smarks or whatever you dipshits are calling yourselves these days need to QFT. You only make yourselves look dumber than you are. Or perhaps you are all really that dumb, I don't know. All I do know is that TNA is the most entertaining national wrestling product on the planet today. You can complain all you want about Flair and Hogan, the WCW parallels, whatever. TNA is establishing their young stars via association with legends of the industry. Styles and Flair together can only strengthen what everyone already knows. AJ Styles is the best thing going today. He like Angle and a very, very, very short list of other guys can carry anyone to an amazing match. Learning how to work the mic and gaining charisma from Flair will only make him better. The same goes for Hogan and Abyss working together.
You all just hate the fact that your beloved WWE does not have any of these men on the roster. Forever you will have to watch John Cena err... Fake Hulk Hogan, HBK, Triple H, and Batista stink up your tv screens. Not to mention glorified jobbers like John Morrison and The Miz. Jesus, if I were a WWE fan anymore I would have to hang myself.
Get over it, TNA has the best roster in the business bar none. Regardless of what you think, they are all being elevated and used properly with Hogan in control.

Really? AJ Styles as Ric Flair's clone sounds forced and shows him to be even more wooden and boring on the mic than before. He's AWFUL at promos.
The IWC fails to realise that AJ Styles basically has the same ability and star quality as Michelle McCool. Both are pretty good athletes and are able to carry a match, but neither of them have ANY shred of charisma. Let AJ come to WWE, he'd make the crowd go to sleep too.
You hear me? He's a male version of Michelle McCool!

LOL howmany guys said jarret in a hairnet was fail? Ummm didn thtey just do that to shawn michaels on WWE? Where were you guys then? How about now when he is on yet ANOTHER "i quit" haitus right before WM.
As far as Anderson and the injuries. its called dramtic irony, look it up.Or better yet, because we (the audience) knows that Anderson gets hurt more than anyone, him calling Angle out is what makes it funny.
Either way all you idiots will still be watching it come monday or thursday or whenevr because you cant help yourselves. Which is also irony, because the more you watch to see the demise the more you add to the peopel watching it. Maybe not directly effecting ratings but you are watching nontheless. be like the 'cool' kids like me who rip RAW, and maybe not watch it. Or even talk about it.
But since you cant then keep adding to the 'success' that Hogan and Bischoff bring to TNA.

Are you out of your mind.
AJ Styles is one of the most entertaining man in the ring today.
Even Paul Heyman described as one of the best wrestler and the most consistant wrestler today.
He is not a spot monkey as he is very underrated in his technical abilities.

These shows just doesn't sound that great to me and this is suppose to be the company that is going to put the WWE out of business forever? This is the company that is "God's gift to wrestling"?
Are you telling me that this is all I would have to look forward to if WWE goes out of business?
I am sorry but I would rather have the WWE's continued existence than this being the only game in town.

Hogan vs Flair WCW 1994: A great series of matches.
Hogan vs Flair WCW 1999: Not as special, but tolerable.
Hogan vs Flair TNA 2010: Will be sad and pathetic.
If this is what TNA has that is going to put an end to the WWE once and for all, then Hogan and Bischoff, you WILL FAIL for the second time to put WWE out of business.
Mark my words, while you TNAssclowns continue the spew that "WWE is dying" bullshit, WWE will present Wrestlemania 40 in Madison Square Garden because WWE is not going out of business no matter how badly you want it to happen. Deal with it.

Here's the thing about Hogan vs Flair, TNA and the WWE. Sure Hogan and Flair are waaaaaaay past their prime and we DO want to see the young talent. But Hogan was my favorite as a kid in the 80's and Flair is my grown-up favorite. So would I rather see wrestlers in the WWE (Cena, Orton, etc) that I've /never/ cared about and /never/ will or do I want to see the old guys who can't go? The answer is the old guys. Every time.

So Hogan brought back Jimmy Hart and I heard that Meng (Haku) was backstage. Now besides Cindi Lauper as somebody said, all we need is Brutus Beefcake, Mr T and Zues and it will really be the 80s all over again in TNA.

"People want to see new, young, exciting talent."
"Which is why the main programs for Mania are Taker v HBK and Bret v Vince and ECW got cancelled for low ratings.
Oopsy. Someone's not been paying attention."
so which is it ppl? based off wwe, no one cares for the "new talents" and continue to cheer on for the "great ones" who r always in the spotlight and so the newcomers r just there waiting in the most notable underground line...and then when they do use them...that's where u get wrestling gone wrong. it takes gimmick to build up a character which i believe is done better off in tna than wwe. take gail kim, for example. she was this somebody somebody in tna and goes back to wwe and then... awkward silence in matches, lame segments and then there's victoria from wwe who rises to the top in tna. perfect trade! the point is that it's gone down! rarity ppl! rarity! crap, off topic! so, ppl can't accept the newcomers just like that. wrestlers gotta have passion, momentum, history. u gotta- well u guys r the experts, so time to shut me up.

Here is my fear...
There will be a mixed tag bout (Flair/AJ vs. Hogan/Abyss), and the belt will be on the line with whomever getting the winning pin getting the title - and either Hogan or Flair gets the belt.
