Tommy Dreamer Talks TNA
Posted by Chris Lansdell on 03.16.2010

Tommy Dreamer recently did an interview with Phil Strum of the Poughkeepsie Journal. Some highlights:

On what he will do next: "I have been contacted by TNA. May go there. If not, I'm very, very happy and content. I'm seriously working every weekend up until right now to September straight. I did two movies, I've been writing two films that I'm hoping to get sold. It wasn't just a spur-of-the-moment thing. I've been working on this for quite some time."
Note: Dreamer's no-compete clause will end on April 5, as his release was official on January 4.

On TNA's move to Mondays: "Not the smartest move on TNA's behalf. I learned with the original ECW: the WWE machine cannot be destroyed. Nor should it be. There's enough piece of the pie. To go head to head wasn't the smartest move for a lot of different reasons. Everyone makes their mistakes. The ratings the first week were not good and favorable. Hopefully, they will continue. I think they had their niche on Thursday nights. They should have stayed and maybe just done specials on Monday nights."

On Monday night being "wrestling night": "If NBC had Thursday Night Football and wanted to move it to Mondays. Why? If we're all wrestling fans, we want to watch wrestling any day of the week. Just like, if I'm a football fan, I want to watch it Monday, Thursday, Sunday."

Well, Dreamer is right about TNA being cocky and moving to Mondays. Maybe he can bump that .7 rating up....

God knows Hogan, Flair, Anderson, Angle, Sting, Hall, Pac, Nash, Nastyz, Foley, and Bischoff all really help.

Dreamer's better off not going to TNA, they'll kill his career like they killed the X-Division

Dreamer makes a lot of sense here. I would ask TNA marks to listen, but they're all "JEFF HARDY! *splooge*"

I agree with Tommy in regards to TNA moving to Monday. There doesn't need to be a war as there is enough wrestling pie to go around.... talking about pie, man I miss The Rock on the mic.

thats all tna needs now another old fuck with nothing to do! dixie you are killing TNA faster than you think.......

Dreamer speaks the truth. Hopefully he doesn't go to TNA.

Nothing against Dreamer, but TNA has too many people already.

Yes Tommy, TNA needs you. TNA needs any wrestler they can get to get some hope...

With all the alleged big brains involved with TNA, how they can't see the simple truth that a good working joe like Tommy Dreamer here can is ridiculous.

Exactly. Tommy hit the nail on the head with this one. Letting hogan and Bischoff recreate the MNW is a joke. And TNA will be the ship that sinks because of it. But hey, I'm sure that lifetime contract will still be on the table for Hogan, once he does Vince the favor of killing the only thing resembling competition.

dreamer is going to tna, no doubter

I actually think its great that both shows are on Monday. It works well for me. In any given wrestling show, at least half of it is going to be completely horrible; this way, I have something to flip to when it gets boring, instead of just sitting there being bored. It's very efficient!

THANK YOU! I hate this crap everyone spews that "Monday is wrestling night!" That's garbage. If people wanted to watch TNA's A-show, they'd find it on Thursdays.

Someone should tell Dreamer that Impact is still on Thursdays, too.

Tommy knows what he's talking about regarding TNA failing, he was a key figure in ECW failing twice!

Spike TV shows a replay on Thursday. So there's still wrestling available to watch on Thursday. You can watch Raw on Monday and Impact on Thursday. So what Dreamer is saying isn't valid.

Not anymore.

TNA should look at putting specials or 'recap' type shows like WWE experience on while RAW runs - it's not total exposure, but atleast it reminds people there's an alternative on a different night.

Dreamer is pretty smart here.

No, TNA is not replaying the show on Thursday. That was a one-time thing last week. It may change, but right now, no-the replays do not exist....

Tommy Dreamer is a smart man. He is right - they had a nice niche on Thursdays, and I liked having another fresh, first run show on besides Superstars there.

If things don't change, they'll hopefully move back anyway.

I didn't know they had an "A" show.

Dixie has got to be on Vince's payroll.

What Career? WWE already killed it by letting him lose to EVERYONE!

Bam, right on the money with TNA. Eh, why not squeeze him in though? I'm sure there's one more spot for a 90s star. Just give him a run with the tag titles or something.

Even though he lost to EVERYONE in the old ECW.

I think Tommy Dreamer will make his way to TNA when the time is right. I am sure TNA will accept you with open arms buddy. You will be reunited with your ECW friends, great.

There's nothing wrong with Tommy Dreamer's opinion regarding the change in TNA on Mondays. His opinions only, but what that is telling me as a fan from the 70's until current is that he is interested in joining TNA. by his comments regarding TNA's move to Monday nights..

Personally I think TNA did what had to be done wich is to "create competition" for other promotions and make it fun worth watching. No longer do you have to settle for just 1 promotion. That's what you can call "choice" and I love it! Dixie and everyone there in TNA made that happen, although the ratings are low, but with time. Fans will realize the choice is their's and not a promotion that is claiming they are the only one's and who refuse to acknowledge the other competition. We are the fans and we dictate.

Look at Jeff Jerret, he was not afraid to flip burgers for his fans or anyone at the Universal Studios in Florida. When have I seen Vince McMahon flip burgers and serve the fans. I always thought he had the brass to do it, but I think he is too busy buying yachts and fancy real estate. I think someone like that needs to give back too the fans.

I respect that family, but be kind and respect your very own talent. If the WWE roster can be cheering TNA it's because there is a serious problem with something in the WWE. You should be able to hang around with the competition if you want too and not be afraid to get fired for it!

Billy Jack just left the building!!!
