Complete WWE Smackdown Taping Results (SPOILERS)
Posted by Larry Csonka on 03.17.2010

Credit: Carlos Hurtado, C.J. Tuttle, Manuel Aguayo and ProWrestling.net

Rey Mysterio opened the show and said he couldn't get the image of his crying daughter out of his mind. He said he doesn't want a normal match at WrestleMania. Rather, they are going with street fight rules for his match with C.M. Punk. However, Punk came out and said that if Rey touches him before WrestleMania, he won't get the street fight.

1. Dolph Ziggler and Jack Swagger defeated Matt Hardy and MVP. Ziggler got the pin with the Zig Zag in a seven-minute match. Ziggler pulled out a ladder and looked at the Money in the Bank briefcase.

Chris Jericho will be a guest on The Cutting Edge.

Backstage, Teddy Long sarcastically congratulated Drew McIntyre on his last Smackdown match. Teddy booked Drew in a match against Undertaker for later in the show.

2. Beth Phoenix and Kelly Kelly defeated Michelle McCool and Layla. After the match, Vickie Guerrero came out demanded an apology from Beth, who then apologized. Vickie announced that she'll face Beth Phoenix in a match on next week's Smackdown. Vickie had so much heat you could barely hear what she was saying.

Musician Kevin Rudolf is in the attendance a shot aired of him in the front row.

Edge came out for The Cutting Edge with Chris Jericho as his guest. Jericho came out with his NXT rookie Wade Barrett. After some good verbal sparring, Edge hit Jericho and cleared him from ring. Edge then hit Barrett with the spear. When he turned around, Jericho hit him with the Codebreaker. Jericho got on the mic and said the stupid spear line and stood over him with the belt.

3. John Morrison and R-Truth beat The Hart Dynasty. A squash with R-Truth winning via the corkscrew cross body. The Harts are definitely getting buried, according to C.J. "Sad," writes Carlos about the three-minute match.

4. Luke Gallows (w/C.M. Punk, Serena) defeated Rey Mysterio. Punk distracted the ref while Serena knocked Rey off the ropes as he was going for the West Coast Pop. Rey went ballistic on Gallows and beat his ass at ringside. Punk slowly walked over and stood in front of Rey so he couldn't hit Gallows anymore, which played into the no contact until wrestlemania stipulation. Hot segment. Rey came off hard here.

5. Undertaker defeated Drew McIntyre. Taker chokeslammed him and then hit the Tombstone. He won in less than five minutes. As Taker was walking up the ramp, Shawn Michaels came out and tried to hit him with Sweet Chin Music. Taker avoided it and tried to hit the Tombstone, but Shawn reversed it and hit Sweet Chin Music to end the show.

Boring show. Whatbthe heck hhappened to smackdown? Back in the day it was must see tv. But now, it barely get a decent rating anymore.

Impact does higher ratings than smackdown!

Wait Kelly Kelly was on SmackDown

Sounds like another good smackdown.

Im looking forward to Rey-Punk even more now its a street fight, would be a great match to open the show i think.

Someone should ask Bret how he feels about the Hart Dynasty burial

Posted By: Bill (Guest)  on March 17, 2010 at 09:44 AM

So, we're in for technically 3 No DQ matches? I'm not complaining or anything, especially since Bret/Vince REALLY need that stipulation, and it gives something extra to Taker/Michaels, but is it really needed for Punk and Misterio? Again... not complaining and I am beyond looking forward to all 3 matches, but I just dont want the stipulation to end up being overused, thus watering down one of those 3 matches. Hopefully it wont.

"Rey came off hard here."

Um, okay.

Still amazingly better than last week's spoilers.

What's that make, 4 NO DQ matches? McMahon vs. Hart, Punk vs. Rey, & HBK vs. Taker, & MITB. WWE continues to book PPVs like TNA.

Sounds like an AWESOME show!

...

...

Well... Maybe not. But hey it sounds better then Impact and Raw at any rate.

I'm shocked...this is the first time in 4 whole years I'm paying attention to a Diva's angle. Now it's a shame for Mickie having to go through surgery, but it's meant that a new (and fresh) top face in Beth can be developed. Cool.

in a matter of 2 weeks UT has buried the Hart Dynasty, Cryme Tyme and Drew McIntyre.

I was at the taping also, and one important aspect missed! If CM Punk beats Rey at Wrestlemania, Rey has to join the Straight Edge Society.

Thank god!!! I cannot stand that womans VOICE...she does play the role all to well...but I don't love to hate her like they want I just can't stand her at all she does not belong in wrestling, even if she is the widowed wife of Eddie (RIP)!!!

So what's the difference between Street Fight, No Holds Barred and a No DQ No Countout match?

Only if you don't pay attention to which numbers are bigger than which. Smackdown consistently gets about twice the rating Impact does.

Yeah because a 0.84 is higher then 2.0 isnt it? retard.

Eh? What drugs you taking? SD is doing more than double Impact ratings. Not slagging Impact or saying what people should prefer. But the numbers are on the SD side. They're doing 2.0's on MyNetwork. Doing that on that shambles is impressive.

Posted By: Guest#5213 (Guest)  on March 17, 2010 at 11:56 AM

Looks to be a good show and to the rev a live impact doesnt even do better ratings then a taped smackdown let alone any other impact

Vicki vs Beth?

Posted By: Doc (Guest)  on March 17, 2010 at 12:16 PM

Why bury Drew McIntyre if they r trying to prepare him for a monster push? Getting to go 10-12 with the dead man wouldve done wonders for his career at this point. Alas, free tv matches are stuck to the under 5 minutes formula

Nice, I hope they make Batista/Cena a No-DQ match. Wrestlemania's gonna kick ass.

Street fight...no holds barred...pin or submission only...WM's moving otwards TNA booking I see.

Posted By: Trooft (Guest)  on March 17, 2010 at 12:28 PM

They should really have saved the street fight stip for Extreme Rules. WrestleMania doesn't need these attractions to sell it, and it comes across rather weak seeing how both Hart/McMahon and Michaels/Taker are essentially the same match type.

No Holds Barred = Street Fight = Pin or Submission Only

That said, the execution sounds solid and I look forward to seeing it play out.

Posted By: neverAcquiesce (Guest)  on March 17, 2010 at 12:29 PM

I hope they don't announce that Wrestlemania will from now on be known as WWE: Streetfight.

Anyhow, sounds like some good build, but I really want Vickie G to go the fuck away - this is X-Pac heat in in't purest form.

Posted By: Loki (Guest)  on March 17, 2010 at 01:05 PM

Couple of things wrong with this spoiler. It was not Kelly Kelly on Smackdown, it was Tiffany, the former ECW GM.

And the Mysterio-Punk isn't confirmed. The agreement was that if Mysterio beats Gallows then it was a street fight at WM but if Gallows beat Rey then at WM if Rey lost he would have to join the SES and accept Punk as his savior. More than likely leading to hair vs. mask.

Sweet. Now that Piggy James finally had to sit at home on her fat ass for awhile, that means we can see some other girls get pushed for once. Let's hope it's a permenant thing, and Mickie is released at some point this year. Wouldn't mind seeing Melina go as well. Good riddance to ugly skanks.

Posted By: y2kev (Guest) on March 17, 2010 at 11:30 AM

really is no difference but if u want to be technical a no dq. match can have countouts no holds barred doesn't have countouts and a street is basically a no holds barred match but teh wrestlers wear street clothes instead of wrestling gear

i can pretty much guarantee that the Hart Dynasty will be getting their push POST wrestlemania. what's the point of pushing them now when all they're trying to do is build towards the supercard? if the hart dynasty has been told by management "hey guys, after 'mania you'll get your due, til then you're job is to strengthen the WM card" do you think they'd take any offense?

there's no doubt in my mind the hart dynasty will be champs less than two months after 'mania.

Is in total agreement with Dan. Vickie doesnt get the heat because she's a great heel, she gets the heat because people really cannot stand the woman and want her off their WWE programming.

Well, it's not like he'll put anyone over..yet McCool keeps getting pushed despite drawing less of a crowd response than Public Enemy during their WWE run.

Back in the day? Do you really consider a few months ago back in the day?

Smackdown gets 3 million viewers (usually around a 2.0) in the United States. So you're wrong by the way.

why are people complaining so much about the no DQ matches.Well if my memory serves me right did Wrestle Mania have 5 No DQ matches and was considered the best Wrestle Mania but many.It had the great triple threat hardcore match between Kane Big Show and Raven,Then the TLC match, then the Shane and Vince match, the Triple H and Undertaker(which isn't listed as one but if you watched it you know it was.)and the Rock and Austin match.well that equals five folk and guess what they were all different and good for what they were.the hardcore match was awesome.the vince and shane was pretty good considering, tlc was great, triple h and taker was great and rock and austin was great.I don't expect much from bret and vince because of brets injury, but cm punk and rey could be great and micheals and taker will be great. So what are you guys going to complain about now?

I'm so tired of that term. She gets heat. No matter what you want to label it, people boo her like crazy which is the exact response WWE wants for her. If people truly didn't give a shit they'd be quiet when she came out.

X-Pac heat...lol. If you can evoke real emotion to where people truly hate you then you've done something that seems impossible in this day and age...You've managed to turn everyone back into marks. So kuddos to Vicki. Any old school heel that used to cause riots back in the day would be proud.

But isn't that the same for all good heels? See them get their comeuppance and ideally off TV, so the fans in the audience can see the faces/their heroes triumphant?

Vickie is more interesting than any other woman in the company right now and she isn't even a Diva. Best female heel since Stephanie McMahon.

That so stupid, being SE is about a choice and choosing to be better than everybody, Punk can't make Rey better than everybody if he did win based on that stipulation. I really don't like this at all. And a streetfight between the 2 does make sense considering its gotten personnel with Punks actions last week, but its not needed.

But she doesn't wrestle and will never get her comeuppance. I'm sure a great number of viewers at home simply change the channel whenever she comes on.

Posted By: Guest#8176 (Guest)  on March 18, 2010 at 12:48 AM

shrugs. Well whatever floats the WWE Boat. I say Vickie's annoying and that's pretty much that. Thank godness we have TNA where wrestlers still bleed, use chairs, emphasize wrestling matches, and most of all there's no Vickie on the show.

Posted By: Paul Westbrook (Guest)  on March 18, 2010 at 01:22 AM

Regarding Vickie getting X-Pac heat, you have to keep in mind what X-Pac heat actually means.

"X-Pac heat" doesn't mean a lack of reaction. It means booing because you have to watch something you don't want to watch since you can't mute the TV or change the channel when you're sitting in the crowd at the show.

"Donald vs. Rosie" on Raw in 2007 is a good example of "X-Pac heat". The crowd didn't sit in silence. They loudly booed because they wanted it to end, but if those same fans had been watching at home, they wouldn't have booed at their TV set. They would have just changed the channel or done something else until the segment ended.

If the people who boo Vickie mute the TV or channel surf during her segments when they watch WWE on television, then she does have "X-Pac heat." If they watch her on TV and hope she gets hers from a babyface, then she has good heel heat.
