Various News: Mickie James Update, USA Wins Cable Ratings, More
Posted by Chris Lansdell on 03.17.2010
Some midweek news...
- WWE announced yesterday that the 2010 Hall of Fame ceremony will air on Saturday, March 27 at 11PM Eastern on USA Network.
- The staph infection that Mickie James had in her leg was the very serious MRSA strain. She has been told that she's out of WrestleMania, and according to a post she wrote on the WWE website she could have lost her leg or even her life had she waited a few more days to get it treated.
- USA won the cable ratings race again this week, although average ratings were low across the board. USA's first-place rating was only a 1.9, toping Fox News' 1.8 to the post. SyFy and Spike came in at 18 and 19 respectively, both at 0.8. Raw's first and second hours were 5 and 4 respectively, with the second hour losing out to two Pawn Stars episodes and a Spongebob episode. In the 18-34 age group, the second hour came in at number 8, with the first hour not making the top 10. In the 18-49 demographic, the two hours were third and fourth.
- In the UK for the week ending March 7, Impact had 82,000 viewers for the first showing and 70,000 for the replay. Raw did 51,000 with its Thursday replay. Smackdown did 86,000 on Friday. Supestars did 54,000 on Saturday and NXT did 51,000 on Thursday.
- An interview with Bobby Lashley, talking about TNA, Brock Lesnar and more, is available here.
- An interview with Tyler Black is available here. In it he is asked about the other world champions in the US. He said that he looks up to and has great respect for AJ Styles, calls Chris Jericho a pioneer who has had 20 great years in wrestling, and said he doesn't think much of Batista.
- An interview with Bill Goldberg is available here. When asked if he missed wrestling, he said: "I miss the wrestling. I miss the ability to simply put a smile on a kid's face, and granted, there's no question I miss the ability to just smash somebody and not get put in jail for it. Other than that, I don't miss anything about the politics, the stupidity and the long working hours of professional wrestling."
I can't stand Mickie James as a performer, and kind of wish she would leave already. But that is some serious shit. Worst thing is that stuff can return in the future. Best of luck to her.

Damn...that Mickie story sounds so horrible. Knowing the typical 411Mania readers, they'll no doubt have some mean things to say about her.

Well, this news item should really bring out the worst in the Mickie haters.

*whispering* Psst Goldberg. You're not really supposed to smash em. Thanks for Bret Hart. Asshole. *end whispering*

Cue mornic comments about losing her leg being the only way Mickie could lose weight...
I'm glad she's okay, and it's a shame for her to miss Wrestlemania.

Batista has earned more money in wrestling than this Jabroni could ever dream of.

maybe if Piggy James listend to Michelle and lost weight she would not have gotten an infection

Thank God, Mickie James is ok and got the infection out quickly. Get well soon Mickie.

Yes, the Mickie hating brigade has come out the woodwork as predicted by the first two comments I quoted. I never realized that truly evil people existed (apart from maybe certain politicians and some historical tyrannical leaders), but the commentators on this site are just that. What has Mickie James EVER done to any of you people to get all this verbal abuse? What's sadder is that you don't even KNOW the woman. Not just Mickie, posters on here write evil, hateful things about just about anything or anyone. It's like you treat humanity with contempt.
How would your parents feel if they knew you were writing all these venomous remarks? They would be ashamed of you. Why so much anger and resentment about other human beings?
Lack of education or deep unhappiness in life probably.

Didn't even think of that. Pretty good joke. It would be cool to see her come back as the female Zack Gowen though.

I think Piggy's career is over. That stuff doesn't go away easy, even if they operate on it in time.
And anybody honestly upset that she is missing some pathetic diva match at Wrestlemania seriously needs to get out of the house more.

Why do you even care? The reason people hate her is because she has been shoved down our throats for so long. She's the ugly, white trash, poor man's version of Trish Stratus, minus everything that makes Trish so appealing, like beauty and charisma.
But seriously, these trolls are just looking for a response, and you wasted your time trying to defend her. It ain't worth it dude.

Mickie has more talent then Michelle ever will and atleast Mickie earned her title shots and didnt blow and grind her way into them...not like Michelle "i f#$k the undertaker" Mccool,I wish Mickie James all the best.
remember karma is a bitch.

Hey Guest#9350, who did Trish pass the torch to in the year 2006. Mickey James. Mickey dominated in the year 2006. She and several other divas still dominate as of today. I am happy that you respect Mickie, but don't say that defending her is a waste of our time and ain't worth it. I am sure you and everybody else defends wrestlers when ever people make fun of them, and people often say it ani't worth it.

That's still no excuse to respond to her in such a way. At least you expressed your opinion in that post about why you don't like her within reason, without making sick comments about her staph infection.
I like other women in WWE more than Mickie but the trolls who comment on her are behaving like she's the reincarnation of Hitler. It's fine to dislike her and even call her out for her wrestling ability or something but a line is crossed when you attack someone based on a near fatal experience.
These psychos on here wouldn't be acting this way if it was someone close to them who fell ill in such a manner.

Did you just compare IWC Trolls to "historical tyrannical leaders'? Some 15 year old punk with a keyboard equals the likes of Hitler & Osama Bin Laden? "Lack of education" seems to be flowing both ways... there's more important things to get riled up over, guy...

And I'm sure someone as decent as Trish Stratus wouldn't want such fans like these who wish death on one of her former co-workers even though Trish is a star herself. She'd be embarrassed to read this site.

I don't defend any wrestler. I don't know them as human beings, so what's the point?
And Trish was forced to "pass the torch". It's obvious WWE was getting sick of her. They made her lose a bunch of matches that year. I guess Vince McMahon finally fell out of love with his golden girl. And even the fans got sick of her(ala Wrestlemania 22).
I'm happy that WWE didn't treat her like shit in her last match(like Lita), but Trish was smart to leave when she did. The fans threw both Trish and Lita under the bus in 2006, and it was sad to see. The success Trish is having away from WWE is directly related to her getting out at the right time. In that sense, she reminds me of another wrestler. If you smell what I'm cooking.
And that "torch" that was passed? Mickie dropped it right away. Now the same WWE fans that turned on Trish kiss her ass all the time, which shows you how fucking stupid most of them are.
Maybe these same fickle fans have set their sights on Mickie now. She's been overexposed too much. I doubt she will be succesful outside of wrestling, but maybe she should leave as well. When a company starts comparing you to a pig, you know they don't have much regard for you anymore.

They were probably being hyperbolic. Doesn't actually mean these trolls are sinister monsters, but their comments are bordering on insanity.

Sorry, Tyler, I love ROH as much as the next guy that isn't a troll, but you'd do well to pay attention to Batista. No, he's not going to put on a wrestling clinic, but the man has a presence, a personality, and he gets a reaction.

Yeah, I'm sure Trish really feels bad for her getting bashed. The girl that basically turned every fan against her. Did you not watch Wrestlemania 22? That was not a passing of the torch. That was basically the night WWE said "fuck you Trish, there's a new girl in town".
I don't even want to make this about who is and isn't a good human being. I'm not some sick bastard. I'm sure Trish would be embarassed for somebody making fun of the health issues.
But don't think she's going to feel bad about the fat jokes or anything like that. If somebody stole your spot and practically sabotaged your career, would you feel bad when the tide turned against them?
Posted By: Guest#2994 (Guest) on March 17, 2010 at 10:58 PM

Not a Mickie hater but cant resist..Now she has a hit country song!!!

Posted By: Lord Keedik (Guest) on March 17, 2010 at 11:00 PM
Wow, this took a weird turn. We went from fat jokes to people making fun of her for being a wannabe Trish.
And yes, I'm sure Trish really feels bad that people make fun of Mickie now. You know, even though WWE basically made her look like shit(Trish I mean), when the psycho character started getting over. That would be like expecting Lita to feel bad for all the divas that made slut jokes about her in 2005/2006.
Posted By: Guest#2958 (Guest) on March 17, 2010 at 11:04 PM
Um, I haven't seen one person make these supposed death threats yet. Tasteless jokes? Maybe. But her defenders really should stop overreacting.
Posted By: Guest#7085 (Guest) on March 17, 2010 at 11:06 PM
Well, lets take bets. How long is it going to take for the WWE to release Mickie? As one of the other posts said, MSRA is very hard to get rid of.
I dont believe the WWE will be willing to expose other performers to something like this. Maybe Im wrong; time will tell

No kidding, Brainiac, but to jump on a soapbox to kids trolling with their exaggerated & hyperbolic opinions of a wrestler they don't know... ONLY to exaggerate & hyperbole himself using comparisons equally as ugly, yet far more disgusting, doesn't make Guest#8190 right, it makes him an idiot.

You know why WWE pushed Mickie so hard in 2006? It's simple. Trish got too popular. She is so beautiful, so smart, and so talented, that they knew it was only a matter of time before she broke out on her own.
So they figured they would push some skanky looking chick that has the stupid "lifer" mentality, like Mickie. She would probaly stay in the business for 100 years like Moolah did. But this infection might force her out.
Posted By: Guest#2753 (Guest) on March 17, 2010 at 11:39 PM
God these comments about Mickie is making me ashamed to be a wrestling fan today. No class what so ever you IWC jerks. Seriously get a heart you bastards. Mickie's life could be in question or her knee. And your going to make jokes about her? What has this world come too? Would you make front of a person you knew in real life who had an infection? No. You don't even know Mickie or what kind of person she is.

Guest 1033 I wouldnt even call a majority of people who follow the WWE today fans. They're more or less wannabes, and nice to see how they show their utter idiocy. We who followed the sport since the 80's can definately refer to ourselves as the true enthusiasts. We respect the workers who bust their asses to entertain people every day and night. Mickie James is someone who I respect a great deal, and my prayers for her recovery.

Piggy James is just blowing things out of proportions, kinda like her expanding waistline.

"You know why WWE pushed Mickie so hard in 2006? It's simple"
Yes it's simple
A/ She was super talented and fresh
B/ She was so good at playing her psycho lesbo Heel she ended up outpopping Trish Stratus herself and surpassing her
C/She got the loudest pop of Mania 22 by PINNING CLEAN the FACE Champ TRISH.
Eat that Alexi Laree Haters.
She has been CONSTANTLY OVER with the WWE Crowds from 2006 to nowadays and you're just jealous she is full of beautiful curves appealing to many males like me while you're just a bunch of 15-20 years old insecured virgin teens who have never touched a girl in their bland lives and never will.

That was one night though. In the long run Trish still came out as the star. Her retirement match at Unforgiven later that year showed (though it was against Lita). A send off so classy and heartfelt, I seriously doubt they'd give another Diva.
Maybe at one point WWE thought they could find their 'next' Trish and Lita in the shape of Mickie and Melina but both have turned out to be below expectations and lacking in any kind substance to be seen as stars on par with the men. These two are not even at Chyna level of star quality.
That said, feel better Mickie.

By the way Guest#9350, if they didn't have much regard for her anymore, then why did they have Mickie win the WWE Women's title in the Royal Rumble this year.
