WWE News: Mickie James Talks About Staph Infection, THR Covers WWE

Some Thursday news...
- The Hollywood Reporter has a Q&A up with WWE CFO George Barrios up, talking about the business side of WrestleMania, WWE's film business, and more.
- The Hollywood Reporter also has an article up on WWE's stock hitting a 52-week high.
- Mickie James has posted a WWE Universe blog about battling the staph infection which turned out to be very serious and potentially life-threatening. Here's what she had to say...
"I didn't realize the severity of the infection and how bad it was. When i was admitted into the hospital I went straight into surgery to get the infection out of my body. They also told me I wouldn't make it to Wrestlemania. I told them they were wrong.. Watch me! When I woke up i was devastated... My leg was in an immobilizer, my knee was sliced open with tubes coming from it t help drain it. As the days passed in the hospital I found out more and more about the infection, about how bad mine truly was. The nurses also explained to me what could have happened if it had gone a little longer untreated. The infection had already gotten into my bloodstream and I was extremely ill.. A few more day meant I could have lost my leg.. Even my life... So I really want to take this moment to say thank you to them all from the bottom of my heart... To our Doctors, the Dr.'s who treated me, and my Boss(who always has to deal with my stubborn ways..haha)! It is because of you that I am getting better everyday, That I am able to write this, that I have my leg, that I have my life, I love you, God Bless You!"
She dodged a bullet there. But knowing the wrestler mentality, watch her do something stupid like come back before everything is totally 100%. This infection could return in the future. She might very well have to retire now.
I am not a fan of Mickie James the wrestler. But I will say that anybody that bashes her is a dirt bag.

What a lovely and amazing person she is.
She is one billion times more positive, nice and gentle than all the IWC virgin losers whom are bashing her because they have no life, no friend and definitively not a hot woman like her to just touch and kiss IMO.

Typical chick. Get a little injury and now she is milking it for all it's worth. I had staph infections in both of my legs back in the day and still attended every damn show. Do you think Flair's bags were going to carry themselves?

I mean, I understand if she got it from surgery or something, or a giant cut, but just normally you don't expect to get something like that. You hear this often with wrestlers, with Bobby Lashley, Hardcore Holly and the like. What on earth are these wrestlers doing!?!?

She is a class act!!! It's nice to see a Diva that has a good head on her shoulders and keeps it real. I think most Divas (not all) would be very snobish and beg for sympathy if they were in her situation. Classy girl, she just grew more attractive to me!!!

I hope Mickie is okay and can come back to wrestling in the future. She is one of the few women in the WWE that can wrestle and not just look pretty.

You don't need a cut to get a staph infection. A simply knee abrasion (from kneeling down on the mat) could introduce the little buggers into your system. As a 'real' wrestler back in the day, we constantly sprayed our mats with clorox and still there'd usually be at least one of us to catch it.
Whenever you have lots of sweat and blood lingering on a surface and you roll around in it (even after its been cloroxed) there's always a chance.

And don't come back for "special appearances" either, Mickie. Look what happened the last time Trish showed up, in her own hometown. Crickets were heard in the arena. And she's 100X bigger star than you ever will be. That's great for her in the outside world, but on WWE TV it can't buy her a pop anymore. Goes to show you what fans think of female "legends".
Just move on before you do something really stupid, like make the infection return and spread through your body. Go after that music career you keep talking about. At least you'll be safe, if not very succesful.

Well whatever her real name is the performer we kmow of as Mickie James is an amazing worker inside the ring, and a down to Earth friendly young woman outside of it. Thank you for pointing out her real name so I stand corrected. lol

Spot on man. I hear Mickie talk in interviews about how she wants the women to be respected. It's an uphill battle she will never win. She peaked in her first year with WWE, and it's been all downhill ever since. She should quit while she still has two legs and her health.
And as for Trish, she should stop coming back. Your right about that. She's doing great on her own, far better than most of us thought she would. I was really expecting another Stacy situation. But Trish is the one woman to really cash in on her WWE fame.
Too bad the current WWE fans don't give a crap about her anymore. They would rather watch a Barbie doll like Kelly attempt her version of wrestling. Just like Cena outpoped Austin on Monday. The Attitude Era is dead and buried, and the stars from that period need to just stay away as long as they can make good money on their own(like Austin and Trish). They don't deserve a bunch of stupid kids not recognizing them.
They should just do what Rock did and swear off wrestling forever. I'd rather be a sellout and succesful in the real world than worry about showing my appreciation for the fake world of wrestling. Please Trish, do what The Dwayne did and stop answering Vince's calls.
