"Dana White said that the UFC is planning on copying WWE's Tribute to the Troops idea by running a live show in Afghanistan in the next 3 months."
Why wouldn't they? WWE gets so much positive publicity for those shows every year, UFC would be stupid not to do one of their own.

UFC sucks.. always copying WWE.. get your own idea..
Posted By: Guest#4212 (Guest) on April 08, 2010 at 08:32 PM
WWE kicks TNA's ass in the ratings... WWE also kicks UFC's ass in the ratings.. and YES ratings is VERY important... whoever doesn't care about ratings are idiots..
Posted By: Guest#7640 (Guest) on April 08, 2010 at 08:34 PM
who cares about UK? USA > UK... as long as WWE kicks TNA's ASS in the ratings in america, it's all good...... WWE owns TNA everywhere else.. including in buy rates.. TNA only does good in the UK cause TNA is cheaper in england than WWE.. so TNA ratings don't count when it comes to who is kicking who's ass. and WWE is beating TNA's ASS..

"- Dana White said that the UFC is planning on copying WWE's Tribute to the Troops idea by running a live show in Afghanistan in the next 3 months."
A. He do not say that they were planning on "copying"
B. Copying the WWE would imply that the UFC wasn't an actual sport... which it is.
C. Because going over seas to entertain the troops was the E's idea... Fuck, you people are diluted. Bob Hope mug fugs!!!
Posted By: Haku (Guest) on April 08, 2010 at 08:37 PM
what's funny is that UFC has being copying WWE for a long time and this is not the first time they have copied WWE's tribute to the troops thing, they copied that concept before from WWE.. look it up...

Take that TNA, the only place you do good is on the UK and Smackdown kicked your ass in the ratings.. smackdown also kicks TNA's ass in the ratings in america too, just like raw.. and smackdown is a way better wrestling show than impact...

First of all you IDIOTS! Dana never said he was going to "COPY" the WWE. that is a miss quote up there.
all he said is that they are going to put on a show in Afghanistan. so get you facts and quotes straight first.
2nd, WWE wasn't the first form of entertainment to go to the troops. entertainers have been doing things like that way b4 the WWE.
3rd, why don't u post someways the UFC has been "COPYING" the WWE???
you can't because their ain't!
and no PPV doesn't count!
i swear some of the comment you guys write are so dumb, idk if you even hear whats coming out your mouth.

What else has ufc done that wwe did? Sign brock and what else?? Dana is taking ufc everywhere so thats copying? Dumb people here in the wrestling section! Abu dhabi show this week is a success also so makes sense!

Posted By: Mr. Mack (Guest) on April 08, 2010 at 09:22 PM
And WWE has been copying the USO
Doing shows for the troops, not an original idea folks

ultimate fighter / tough enough
video packaging/ promo approach
brock lesnar is ufc's only hope as far as a bonifide star that can be on the cover of video games and headline the major ufc ppv's/
playing brock as a heel a few months ago was def. organized to gain attention.
Other than that ones real and has limited shelf life because you cant realistically build stars when anyone can knock out anyone at anygiven time and the other is entertianment and can evolve and be written to succeed. So its comparing peaches and pairs and your moms got a pair of peaches

I wouldnt be surprised if christian has the best match most nights.
Also, can't wait for chikara's king of trios. Interested to see who will replace Cassandro

Are you kidding do you remember what UFC was not too long ago? It was almost DEAD! No entrance music, no trons, no rules, a dead sport before it actually realized no one was watching if the fighters really killed each other, poked eye, hit in the groin etc. The fighters had no personality and the shows consisted of guys you never heard of walking out and fighting, no entertainment value at all. Ever seen tough enough? Dana White did a great job applying a lot of ideas and making UFC the success it is but even he will tell you he applied a lot of idea from VKM.

Yep, that boxing thing never stuck around.
Too be fair I'm not sure the UFC and MMA would be doing so well if pro wrestling wasn't the worst its been in decades right now.

-Rules were implemented 9 years ago... its been a while
-There was "entrance music" but there still is no "tron"
-and ill be damned if Harold Howard didnt have more personality that any of these scrubs today.
-look, go back and watch UFC 40. your "pro wrestling" argument would have much more weight

Being in the military, I can tell you that most guys would probably prefer UFC to WWE. It's a great thing WWE does, but most military-types are meatheads that like watching two dudes legit punch each other in the face.
Posted By: Guest#5607 (Guest) on April 09, 2010 at 01:33 AM
The only reason Raw has poor ratings in the UK is because it's on at 2am, whereas Smackdown is shown at 10pm (not sure when Impact is shown, but it's normally on at a reasonable time).

So why are they are so much more successful?

ya totally God bless our troops and how can u hate a show of this kind? Fuk all you hoes get a grip ni**a
Posted By: tazz (Guest) on April 09, 2010 at 02:51 AM
Thank goodness.
When I read they were 'copying WWE', I thought they were going PG, and hiring an annoying turd who knows nothing about anything as their lead commentator.
Posted By: Loki (Guest) on April 09, 2010 at 05:00 AM
Yes, just miss out the fact that a huge 7,000 watched TNA on Extreme Sports in the UK for that same week.
I don't want to hear "yeah because it's new". TWC was drawing 35,000+ for TNA and it was new. No one even knew what TNA was back then either.
The UK ratings can worked. Bravo only gets high ratings due to its prominent position in the guide. Bravo was peaking when people were getting ready to tune into the following erotic program.
There's no proof that figure is really watching or interested. X amount can be due to channel switching around the surrounding channels.
Two other things that must be considered. i) The figures for Sky Sports HD where WWE HD is shown is unknown and not taken into account here. Judging by Eurosport HD you are easily looking at another mid five figures for WWE.
ii) the highest wrestling could easy be WWE shown on Sky 1. It is the most watched UK sat channel. The figures are not known for the wrestling on Sky 1 as they are generally much higher ratings.

You, my friend, are an ignorant fuck.
UFC always had enterance music, so you FAIL there.
There are still no "trons" other than the in-house video systems that the arena uses.
Rules were implemented to appease the Athletic commissions, not to copy the WWE.
Tough Enough? Ever see Survivor? VKM stole that one.
Promos and video packaging? Hell, boxing has been doing that for years. I guess they stole it from the WWE too, huh?
If you bothered to open your eyes sometime, you'll notice that UFC has more in common with boxing, a real sport, than it does with WWE.
Remember, God gave you two eyes, two ears and only one mouth, so you can look and listen more than you talk. Use your God given senses to not be an idiot.

Crap, one more thing. Dana never said that he was copying WWE. He just said he was planning on going to Afghanistan.
When the war was in Iraq, was Abu Dhabi copying WWE?

Forgot one more thing. Sorry for multi-posts, but this idiot just keeps giving me things to beat him about.
Fighters with no entertainment value????
Two words: Tank Abbot.
Posted By: Brad McLeod (Guest) on April 09, 2010 at 07:36 AM
both forms of entertainment be it UFC and or WWE is what troops like to see. You have seen the response the WWE got for their tribute to the troops and UFC will get the same response. Also i get the argument people feel the need to always say one's a sport and one is not. However, since the beginning of UFC its pushed more and more of that entertainment aspect than people like to admit. Its getting closer to sports entertainment than they want to admit. However once the bell rings the "script" ends and you see who is the better person. Thats about it.
WWE's script goes the entire match, UFC's script ends after the entrances.....unless you know they need a better name to be the face of the company. Other than that....tends to end at the starting bell.
As for the rest of the story Christian is still doing good yet getting no push which is terrible. As for Dos Caras Jr., if it adds a new person in the ring that can go then thats always a good thing.
Posted By: Guest#8486 (Guest) on April 09, 2010 at 08:22 AM
It really is redundant to compare WWE and UFC. UFC and MMA in general is a real legit sport whereas wrestling is a form of entertainment.
UFC isn't copying WWE and it shouldn't be made out that they are. If a band went out and did a Tribute to the Troops concert then no one would make comparisons with WWE and that should be the same with regards to UFC doing it. Because they are not the same!!!
