WWE House Show Results: Dublin, Ireland

April 10, 2010 | Posted by Chris Lansdell

Results from WWE’s SmackDown brand house show in Dublin, Ireland. Report courtesy Matthew Macklin and PWInsider:

Before the show we saw all of the wrestlers leaving the Clarion Hotel and getting on to two buses to head for the arena. David Hart Smith got onto the heel bus by accident and was told too get off of it quickly. Finlay was there but he didn’t wrestle.

The O2 was definitely not sold out as there were a lot of empty seats at the top of the arena. We had front row seats and were surrounded by children wearing Cena shirts and he wasn’t even going to be there.

Kane Def. Ezekiel Jackson
Once Kane’s music hit a guy that was seated beside the ring he whole night jumped into the ring and jumped on Tony Chimel as the lights went out. I know this guy to see but can’t think of his name. He looked an awful lot like Billy Kidman. The match started slow but picked up towards the end with Kane winning after a chokeslam.

Beth Phoenix Def. Layla
Far better than the average divas match you would see on TV. Beth was very popular in Dublin. Layla did a good job and got a lot of offense. Beth won after the Glam slam.

The Hart Dynasty Def. The Dudebusters
Croft and Barretta got on the mic before the match and said they were disappointed to realize the were not in Northern Ireland. This got them great heat. The Hart Dynasty got a huge reaction coming out and there was even a “We want Bret” chant. Kidd and Natalya loved our ‘don’t screw The Hart Dynasty ‘ sign. This was one of the best matches of the night and the best match I’ve seen from Croft and Barretta. Some great back and forth action Smith got the hot tag and the Dynasty won after sharpshooters on both Croft and Barretta. The Hart Dynasty are unreal to watch in the ring.

R-Truth Def. Dolph Ziggler
Truth got the usual loud reaction. Ziggler is awesome. Another great back and forth match. Ziggler even pulled out a superkick at one stage. Truth won after a wheelbarrow into a roll up. Truth danced with Chimel after the match.

John Morrison Def. Luke Gallows w/Serena
Decent match. Serena was great at ringside. Morrison pulled out an HBK elbow and nip up. Morrison won after Starship Pain. After the match Punk came out to attack Morrison only for Mysterio to make the save which led us to an intermission.

Intercontinental Championship
Drew McIntyre Def. Matt Hardy
This match was exactly the same as the one that aired on Smackdown last night. Good match back and forth until Hardy started selling the head injuries. McIntyre won after Hardy’s head hit the ring post followed by the future shock double arm DDT.

Rey Mysterio Def. CM Punk w/ Gallows and Serena
Yet again during Mysterio’s entrance Chimel was attacked by the same guy who he was having a good laugh with at ringside. Referee John Cone had to introduce Rey Mysterio which was hilarious. This match spilled into the crowd at one stage and was better than there Wrestlemania match. Match of the night. Mysterio is awesome to see so close up. Mysterio won after a 619 and a splash after loads of counters and reversals. John Morrison stopped Gallows from interfering in the finish returning the favor from earlier.

World Heavyweight Championship
Edge Def. Jack Swagger by DQ
Swagger got on the mic before the match and got good heat. Edge got a huge pop and made fun of Swagger’s lisp, as usual. Fantastic match. Edge outsmarted Swagger to start off until Edge got dropped on the guard rail (right in front of me). Swagger worked over Edge’s ribs for a while until Edge attempted The Spear several times. Swagger caught Edge in the knee with a chair for the DQ. Edge of course speared Swagger to send the people home happy. Edge got on the mic after and thanked us for coming and said we were far better than the German crowd the night before. He went around meeting fans at ringside to end the show

Overall a fantastic show and the best show I’ve seen in the O2. Hopefully they will be back again in November.
