Trent Acid Passes Away
Posted by Larry Csonka on 06.18.2010
He was 29…
According to Pwinsider.com, Michael "Trent Acid" Verdi was found dead this morning. He was 29. The early belief is that his death was drug-related, but nothing has been confirmed at this time. At one time, Acid was considered a can't miss prospect from the Philadelphia independent scene, and mainly worked out of Combat Zone Wrestling, but also spent time in ROH. Acid had personal issues and had previously been arrested and jailed on drug charges.
On behalf of 411, I would like to extend my condolences to the family, friends and fans of Trent Acid.
Damn. He was the only reason why I watched CZW back in 2002. RIP, man. Jeez.

Damn. 29? can't believe he was so young, dude must've started wresling when he was 12.
Posted By: RIP (Guest) on June 18, 2010 at 03:04 PM
Sasly so many wrestlers go like this. I remember he took an ace cutter off the top rope to the concrete floor at Wrestlerave 03. I literally jumped out of my seat! R.I.P.

Damn, he was always one of my top guys in EWR, didn't realize he was so young.
Posted By: PHOENIXZERO (Guest) on June 18, 2010 at 03:08 PM
I had my photo taken with him and Justin Credible @ the 2008 Gathering Of The Juggalos...he was a pretty nifty guy.
Posted By: Just Dave (Guest) on June 18, 2010 at 03:11 PM
Hmmm...Backseat Boyz with Johnny Kashmere, right? That sucks, Acid was easily the more talented of the duo.
Posted By: Slick (Guest) on June 18, 2010 at 03:15 PM
Rest in peace Trent.

Dam, sort of forgot about him. Another gone to soon...
Posted By: aprince66 (Guest) on June 18, 2010 at 03:15 PM
I remember talking to him at an ROH show a few years back. I always thought he was talented. Its such a shame he had so many personal issues. RIP.
Posted By: Johnny Israel (Guest) on June 18, 2010 at 03:23 PM
This is very sad news. Very young.. Seriously pro wrestling needs to do something about this drug issue.
Posted By: Guest#7467 (Guest) on June 18, 2010 at 03:24 PM
One of the best live tag team matches I've ever seen was Ric Blade and Nick Berk VS Trent Acid and Johnny Kashmere. Acid reportedly had a long-standing drug problem, so that could be a factor. In any event, it's a sad end for a talented performer.
Posted By: Nick M. (Guest) on June 18, 2010 at 03:25 PM
I don't find wrestling deaths shocing anymore. RIP Acid, and condolencs to his family.

his series of matches against homicide were great.
Posted By: d-lunch (Guest) on June 18, 2010 at 03:40 PM
That's a damn shame. I wonder how long it'll be before everyone blames this one on the WWE and Vince McMahon? These guys have got to learn that drugs are not the answer.
Posted By: rcpitts (Guest) on June 18, 2010 at 03:41 PM
His Yakuza kicks were awesome to watch. Love the spot were he hit one, the opponent bounced off the ropes, and Acid caught him again. RIP.

Posted By: Cm Wolf (Guest) on June 18, 2010 at 03:51 PM
Obviously I was a fan. Ripped his name for a column on a now-dead wrestling website around 10 years ago. Drugs will do that, though.
Posted By: Acid (Guest) on June 18, 2010 at 03:53 PM
Holy shit!!! I remember watching him in the early CZW... It was great to see him. RIP Trent Acid.

Man, I was a fan of Trent Acid. The Backseat Boys were a great tag team in the early ROH days. Also, his match with Homicide at Wrestlerave 2003 I believe was beyond awesome. A damn shame...RIP.

Doesn't matter, her opponents refer to her as the wrestling ceo not the former wwe ceo. They'll find away, in politics, they always do.

Posted By: rcpitts (Guest) on June 18, 2010 at 03:41 PM
Give it a bit. There's at least one jag-off troll who posts a rant about "WWE using up wrestlers and kicking them to the curb with their drug problems" on almost every article like this.
Posted By: Sean (Guest) on June 18, 2010 at 04:30 PM
He had the look, a great physique for a junior heavyweight, charisma and could work in the ring. I seems like after he left ROH is '04 (I believe) he fell into obscurity. Was that the drugs then, too?
I guess I'll always be a little surprised he never got a shot in the big time. I never saw the Ace Cutter to the floor off the top rope...how the heck did both guys take that without either one breaking in half??Acid was a good looking dude, too bad about this news.
Posted By: Guest#0851 (Guest) on June 18, 2010 at 04:32 PM
This sucks big time, He was suppose to go to Japan a few months back. Things were finally looking up for him. RIP Trent.
Posted By: Shinobu (Guest) on June 18, 2010 at 04:42 PM
What a waste. The guy showed promise but can't stay off drugs
Posted By: Guest#4925 (Guest) on June 18, 2010 at 04:47 PM
The media wants to grill pro wrestling about PEDs when really what's killing wrestlers are the pills/meds and mixing them with other drugs. Huge drug culture in the biz and it's being blamed on just steroids. This has to stop.
Posted By: Indy Know (Guest) on June 18, 2010 at 04:57 PM
Wow. You literally have to kill somebody to keep the comment board clear of Vanilla Midget/No Talent spot monkey comments.
Now if you'll excuse me, i got to get to youtube now.

Very sad to hear this but not shocked, Trent had problems for a few years.
Last time I saw him live was at a PWU show about 4 years ago, he wasn't in a good way then.
R.I.P. Trent - The demons of the business take another young life way too soon.
Thoughts and prayers to his family and friends.

Goddamn you WWE. If you weren't so concerned with lining your pockets maybe you could've given this guy the help he deserved you greedy pricks.

Someone who never worked for them? Right.
Either way, it's a damn shame. R.I.P. Trent Acid.
Posted By: Spiral (Guest) on June 18, 2010 at 06:41 PM
Was one of the few Indy guys I liked as I grew up watching the bigger feds mainly, he had a bag of talent in the early days. It's definitely a loss but I hope it's a big wake-up call for those who do use drugs to excess. 29 is a disgraceful age to die, but I hope the guy finds some peace in death.
Posted By: Chumpy (Guest) on June 18, 2010 at 06:45 PM
What's a Trent Acid?
Posted By: I Hate Everything (Guest) on June 18, 2010 at 06:49 PM
....Sorry but its getting harder and harder to defend let alone care about wrestlers that OVERDOSE!!!!! Pro wrestling is ALWAYS under the microscope and another DRUG RELATED DEATH does NOTHING for the business.
Posted By: HAHAMAN (Guest) on June 18, 2010 at 07:09 PM
A true talent in this business lost.
Posted By: Guest#9560 (Guest) on June 18, 2010 at 07:16 PM
Used to love watching "The Backseat Boyz" on the old Wrestling Channel here in the Uk. The "T-Gimmick" finisher he did with Kashmere was awesome too. I also remember them doing a lot of dual moves that we see nowadays from the MCMGs and The Young Bucks.
He was a pretty good untapped talent, but, like so many others, drugs cut his life short.
Make no bones about it though, nobody forces these people to take the copious amount of shit they end up taking.
Yes, it's a shame he never fulfilled his potential.
Yes, it's a shame he died.
But it's also his own doing.
I will still offer condolences to his family and friends, but I am getting annoyed at these drug addled wrestlers being held up as some sort of martyrs.

WHAT??!?! No!!!!!! This sucks, horribly bad. Rest In Peace Acid.
Posted By: Trent (Guest) on June 18, 2010 at 08:55 PM
If memory serves me right, Acid actually did work for WWE as a jobber on Smackdown (I think it was Smackdown anyway).
This is very sad news. Granted, Acid had demons and what he did to himself was no one's fault but his own, but still, at one time, he was considered to have a VERY bright future in the wrestling business. I actually met him last year at a CZW show and he seemed like a cool guy.
R.I.P Trent Acid!

Trent Acid worked in wwe too R.I.P.
Posted By: Guest#7951 (Guest) on June 19, 2010 at 05:24 AM
Ah that blows. I remember early Trent when he was in great shape and was one hell of a worker. It's a real shame he's battled drugs for years, but as he's a friend of a friend, I know he was into alot of hard shit. If only he'd avoided it all, kept in shape, then he might have actually reached his full potential. RIP

What's a Trent Acid?
Posted By: I Hate Everything (Guest) on June 18, 2010 at 06:49 PM
By posting this, it is safe to deduce that you can't read and therefore we can presume you watch WWE.
Posted By: Vince McArsehole (Guest) on June 19, 2010 at 01:25 PM
Dang, I was hoping for the Backseat Boys to make it to one of the big two promotions. While I know little of Kashmere, Trent was the biggest reason why I followed JCW. Trent was brilliant in his holy roller gimmick.
Posted By: Cannonite (Guest) on June 19, 2010 at 03:03 PM
I cant believe he is gone. I have his letter he wrote me from prison and the picture signed by him in my office. He was the only reason I went to PWU. We talked sevearal times and I followed him around because I thought he was the best. My heart goes out to his family. Trent I love you and you were always my HERO!
