Various News: Chris Jericho DVD Listing, Kurt Angle Interview, More
Posted by Chris Lansdell on 06.21.2010
Who does Kurt want in TNA?
- Ricky Steamboat teamed up with his son Richie to defeat the Dudebusters in Fort Myers, FL for FCW. Ricky did the bulk of the work for the team, as Richie has yet to recover from knee surgery.
- Kurt Angle says he wishes he could have taken more time off here. He also expresses a strong desire to have Charlie Haas and Shelton Benjamin in TNA. Recent reports suggest that both Haas and Benjamin are cooling to that idea, with Benjamin especially thinking it would ruin any chance he may have of returning to WWE.
- The match listing for the eagerly-anticipated Chris Jericho DVD is as follows:
Jericho vs. RVD (ECW)
Jericho & 2 Cold Scorpio vs. Shane Douglas & 911 (ECW)
Jericho vs. Alex Wright (WCW debut)
Jericho vs. Syxx for WCW cruiserweight title
Jericho vs. Eddie Guerrero
Jericho vs. Rey Mysterio for WCW cruiserweight title
Jericho vs. Dean Malenko for WCW cruiserweight title
Jericho vs. Juventud Guerrera for WCW cruiserweight title
Jericho vs. Jeff Jarrett
Jericho & Eddie Guerrero vs. Rey Mysterio & Super Calo
Jericho vs. Stevie Ray for TV title
Jericho vs. Raven for TV title
Jericho vs. Road Dogg
Jericho vs. Ken Shamrock first blood match
Jericho vs. Chyna IC title match (boy is that feud embarrassing when you look back in hindsight)
Jericho vs. X-Pac cage match
Jericho vs. Big Show Hardcore title match
Jericho vs. Rock for WCW title
Jericho vs. Kurt Angle for WCW title
Jericho vs. Rock & Austin on the same night
TLC match with Christian for tag titles
Jericho vs. John Cena loser leaves town
Jericho vs. JBL
Money in the Bank match w/Jericho
Jericho vs. Kofi Kingston IC title
Jericho vs. Shawn Michaels ladder match
Jericho vs. Rey Mysterio Extreme rules match
Jericho vs. C.M. Punk
Jericho vs. John Morrison
Jericho vs. Edge for World title
Jericho DVD looks nice, glad to see a lot of WCW stuff on there. I preferred his match w/ Mysterio at The Bash to his one at Extreme Rules. How and ever it looks like a great set and the first wrestling DVD purchase that I will make in a long while

this may be the best dvd ever....

I will be getting this DVD. Period
Posted By: Guest#8750 (Guest) on June 21, 2010 at 09:46 PM
DAMN.
I guess Jericho never had a DVD before.
Angle is talking that bullshit now cuz his contract is expiring but TNA could actually drop his contract at this point.
There's way more name talent in TNA right now than there was in 06.
They could easily let him walk.

So I guess TNA might not get their grubby hands on Shelton?
Posted By: Guest#9478 (Guest) on June 21, 2010 at 10:19 PM
WCW debut... hmm. Knowing Chris he'd prefer to pretend it was the one against the Gambler... he thought the finish was the worst ever for a debut, didn't he? (Taking a double count out rather than win by count out because "The nWo might take that kind of win, but not me".)

Jericho vs. C.M. Punk
Jericho vs. John Morrison
wOW ..are these matches good?
Posted By: MacDollarz. (Guest) on June 21, 2010 at 10:29 PM
I usually hate people that complain about awesome DVD sets over some missing, obscure match, but shit, Jericho vs. Taz in ECW was a freakin' awesome match, and a big one in Jericho's career. It was a PWI match of the week winner at the time!

Chris Jericho : The Best In The World At What He Does.

Loved the match where he beat Triple H "unofficially" for the title when the Rock was off.
Also, I hate to do it, but I am feeling that some of his matches with Benoit should be on here. Should I be ashamed? It just feels if it lacks anything it is that.. but good nonetheless. Oh and the Fatal Four Way from No Way Out 2001, but I just remembered Benoit was in that too..

Wish it had the awesome Jericho/Benoit ladder match, but I didn't really expect it to.
Posted By: Ultima (Guest) on June 21, 2010 at 10:58 PM
This is definitely the best set ever.
Just curious...why the Stevie Ray match? There must have been a big storyline event there or something. Stevie Ray should not be on a best of anything.
Also, I really hoped one DVD discussion could occur without someone mentioning Benoit. Its not going to happen, people. Stop talking about it all the time. We get it. Someone says "blah blah WWE is so stupid for not including Benoit." Someone else says, "You love murderers."
It's been the same discussion for three years. Shut. Up.

No, you and everybody else should not be ashamed. Liking the performer and liking the performer's life are two different things. People don't do full background checks on the actors in a movie and then decide to watch it.
They had many great matches together, against each other and with each other. This was true in Japan, WCW, and the (at the time) WWF. Any representative set should have these matches.

Cheers for a heaping helping of WCW Jericho!
Jeers for some of the WWE choices... a Road Dog match? Oh well.
And please, God, include plenty of WCW promos...

Holy shit.
And it's about time.

Thank you Jericho!

"Jericho vs. Rock & Austin on the same night"
The night it all went to hell.
Posted By: MBD (Guest) on June 21, 2010 at 11:49 PM
Too bad that half of this DVD will be ruined by "WWF" blurring. The footage from that era is unwatchable at times with the amount of altered vision and I just *HATE* that matches from this period are basically destroyed by that lawsuit.

-Jericho vs. Ken Shamrock first blood match
PG say what?
This is a first day buy for sure.
Posted By: neverAcquiesce (Guest) on June 21, 2010 at 11:56 PM
Good, let Haas wallow in mediocrity, he ain't gettin a call back to the E..as for Benjamin just another never was who TNA needs to stay far away from less we have a Botches Running Wild DVD thanks to Shelton the charisma-less overrated black hole of non-existent talent.
Posted By: guest666 (Guest) on June 22, 2010 at 12:10 AM
I don't know what Shelton's worried about. Christian, R-Truth, Gail Kim, its not like they won't take you back if you go to TNA. Don't worry, you can have a nice run in TNA and then go back to jobbing 24/7 on the C shows in no time.
Posted By: No (Guest) on June 22, 2010 at 12:13 AM
Little disappointed the Jericho-Triple H last man standing match from Fully Loaded 2000 isn't on here or more of his feud with Christian and Trish as I was a big fan of that storyline but still looks damn good.
By the way, there better be alot of promos included, I mean alot of promos.

This really isn't that great.

Posted By: Guest#8188 (Guest) on June 22, 2010 at 12:23 AM
Wow. You are wrong. They could have just put in the WCW stuff and this would have been the best set ever.
Posted By: Guest#1422 (Guest) on June 22, 2010 at 01:06 AM
Some great matches on the DVD, but it would have been epic if we got matches against you-know-who instead of the (I admit, few) filler matches.
Posted By: Max Grouper (Guest) on June 22, 2010 at 01:14 AM
TLC match with Christian for tag titles
Jericho vs. John Cena loser leaves town
^ So they just skip from 2002-2005?! No Christian vs. Jericho from WMXX? No Jericho losing the IC title to Benjamin in 04?
A decent set though. And I remember that match with Road Dogg. I'm pretty sure that was Jericho's official in-ring WWE debut. On the first Smackdown, same show where Michaels superkicked The Rock. I'm pretty sure Jericho got DQ'd and put Road Dogg through a table.
Posted By: Jefferson D'Arcy (Guest) on June 22, 2010 at 01:56 AM
Nothing on that DVD is any good aside from the WCW stuff.
Posted By: Guest#9604 (Guest) on June 22, 2010 at 02:01 AM
Hard to get excited without knowing dates etc.
However it looks like a good set if that Listing is true (which I doubt - too many matches).
Posted By: Loki (Guest) on June 22, 2010 at 04:09 AM
This match listing is 100% fake.
When WWE releases match listings they always include the event and date the match happened on, as well as the names of any other chapters or extras. Also keep in mind that a 3-disc DVD is never going to fit this huge list of matches. I look forward to the day we find out what's REALLY going to be on this set.
Posted By: obvious (Guest) on June 22, 2010 at 07:24 AM
What? No Benoit matches and no Lance Storm matches....WEAK!

Is the Raven match the one from Halloween Havoc 98? That match was awesome, havn't been able to find a copy of it anywhere yet.
Posted By: joe blow (Guest) on June 22, 2010 at 08:36 AM
Love the set, but i really wish they'd put the LMS against HHH from Fully Loaded 2000. Probably his best ever non-Benoit match while playing a face.
Posted By: joe blow (Guest) on June 22, 2010 at 08:43 AM
Jericho has a career that if this DVD sells well then the matches everyone is saying should have been on this one might get collected and put on a second set. He is one of the few icons(all be it the WWE doesn't treat him like one) that has a long standing career that the WWE fortunately has a lot of the video library of. So I think if this sells as well as you all seem to be commenting on then you will get another Jericho set coming out.
Posted By: Guest#1883 (Guest) on June 22, 2010 at 09:20 AM
The DVD should be titled: Jericho: Do you understand the words that I am saying to you right now?!
Posted By: Bert (Guest) on June 22, 2010 at 11:28 AM
Looks great but there seems to be an awful lot of matches then there, so theres either a good few short ones or its a fake listing, shame theres no him Trip last man standing but thats just nipicking, cant wait to see what promos are included.
Posted By: jbardo (Guest) on June 22, 2010 at 11:58 AM
I agree with "Obvious". This list appears to be fake. Typically when the lists are printed they are from Silvervision UK. That site has no listing for this DVD. What is the source of this list?

"Jericho vs. Rock & Austin on the same night"

Posted By: MBD (Guest) on June 21, 2010 at 11:49 PM
^Sadly You're Right...Wrestling before that day, was HUGE!
ROCK and STONE COLD = Untouchable!
The Day After....Stone Cold stuck in a match with scott hall, the rock jobs to the hurricane, then everyone quit watching and ratings went to hell...Wrestling Took Rock and STone Cold forgranted, now we're stuck with the Jarmarcus Russle of Wrestling(CENA).

Can't believe they haven't included Y2J vs demented bitch outside the arena. That was a 5 star performance.

Finally somebody knows what there talking about around here. They let that glorified mid carder Jericho beat the 2 biggest names in the business and gave him the Undisputed title. What a mistake that was. They did take Austin especially for granted and I don't blame him for walking out.It wasn't just Jericho either, because it became the Triple H show when he returned a month later. The quality and ratings have never been the same since 2001.
Posted By: MBD (Guest) on June 22, 2010 at 01:57 PM
What Benjamin needs to do in order to have a chance to go back to the WWE is to stop sucking, learn how NOT TO BOTCH and buy himself a personality.
Posted By: Guest#5511 (Guest) on June 22, 2010 at 02:44 PM
The match list for Y2J DVD is a fake.
This never happened Jericho & 2 Cold Scorpio vs. Shane Douglas & 911 (ECW)
Posted By: Guest#9897 (Guest) on June 22, 2010 at 04:45 PM
"Just curious...why the Stevie Ray match? There must have been a big storyline event there or something. Stevie Ray should not be on a best of anything."
If I remember correctly, Jericho won the TV title from Stevie Ray while he was defending it for and injured Booker T, which led to that joyous Harlem Heat 2000 angle. I'd imagine this is on there for the title win, not match quality.
