- According to Pwinsider.com, former ECW World champion Mikey Whipwreck may need neck surgery. Whipwreck, who has had issues with his neck due to the punishment he took during his career, has an MRI scheduled for Monday to determine how bad his neck is. Last night, Whipwreck sneezed and both of his arms went numb. After the feeling did not return, he was taken to the hospital. Feeling has returned, but his neck is very sore and his left arm is still giving him problems.

This is exactly right. For every new-to-wrestling douchebag who watches clips from the late 90s-early 2000s and whines about PG there's one of us who have been around and seen week-to-week what guys like Mikey Whipwreck put themselves through in ECW. I wasn't a mutant but I was enough of an ECW fanatic to know that I'm amazed some of these jokers are still standing, let alone working. That was some really crazy shit that went down in those days and I for one am okay with never seeing anything like it again on a WWE or TNA show. That's why they need to let ECW's memory alone.

Lol at the comment about Mikey and the support for lack of blood/chair shots. Show me a match where Mikey participated in getting hit with numerous weapons and unprotected chair shots.

Any of his matches against Cactus Jack, plus the ones against Raven. In ECW, getting hit with shit or getting planted on your head on moves were so common place they kind of weave together.
I also just watched a match against Justin Credible where he was slamming the back of his neck against the guard rails doing Russian Leg Sweeps, getting powerbombed on chairs and diving to the outside with no mats.....and he did worse than that before the PPV era.
In short, to say he never did any wacky hardcore stuff is VERY wide of the mark.
