Even more Sunday news...
- A poster for TNA No Surrender, which is on September 5, appeared in Super Luchas magazine recently. It features Mr. Anderson screaming.
- At last night's WWC event, Shelton Benjamin defeated Ray Gonzalez to win the WWC Universal Title. In the show's main event, Carlito pinned Vampiro.
- Over 200 fans were turned away from Friday's PWG 7 show, and it was an hour late starting due to PWG officials trying to deal with all the pre-sale tickets. It is believed to have been PWG's biggest ever show.
- The "new WWE logo" floating around, which you can see below, has not been confirmed as real. If it is a fake it's a very good one.

I know its not exactly like the womens entertainment logo but it does remind me of it. I'm not a big fan of it as I'm sure they could do a lot better but I like the idea of incorporating some of the old school WWF logo and I do think the current WWE logo needs to go because I always think of the attitude era with that one and I think the new one needs more of an "entertainment" feel to it. One thing they should consider is utilizing the "WWE-HD" logo.

Kinda reminds me of the old yellow logo. I wish Kelly Kelly was somehow incorporated into the logo seeing as how she is one of the most important people in the company.

Looks fake/tacky as hell.. Honestly I could of drawn that up on photoshop in about 5 mins. I don't believe for one min WWE are changing logo's, rebranding costs a fortune and I don't see the purpose of it when the current logo is so well established.

Complete & obvious fake, done on Photoshop.
Some are saying this "new" logo is a screenshot taken from next week's pre-taped RAW.
I work for a TV station, and the station logo watermark only appears on the video signal as it goes to air. The "usa" logo would not appear on the original satellite feed from WWE. If this were legit, the "screengrab" above with the usa logo means we would have seen this on TV already.

Logo is gross. Looks like a bad network logo. I understand what they are going for, but if you are going to go nostalgic just do the WW and write out Entertainment below it or going through it. Otherwise lets move forward with something completely new.

It doesn't look professional. Look around the edges of the inner W, and how the E isn't integrated with the rest. If it is the new logo, it friggin' sucks. As a graphic designer, I find it horrible that this sort of garbage could become a multi-billion dollar company's logo.

I've been wondering when they'd bring out a new logo. The current scribble-style logo is a slight alteration of the Attitude Era logo. It's not the Attitude Era anymore. It makes sense to make a change.

I used to be a really huge fan of the WWF. Then in 2002, they really began to lose me. They could have just given some money each year to the World Wildlife Fund and kept the WWF name and logo. But then you'd have the same crap now and the "WWE" just plain sucks. I'm like many on here who miss the old days when it was the WWF and you had a world title that looked important, not a damned spinner belt. Vince McMahon sold out the WWF, became WWE and just doesn't listen to the people who helped make him what he is. This current generation can't compare to the New Generation (1994-97) and the Attitude Era (1998-2002). Death to WWE, Long Live the WWF.

I actually really like the new logo if they go with it. For one thing, it actually HAS a fucking 'E'. I know that technically WWF was WWFE, but still, once they dropped the F and emphasised the E they should just have added a line to the old logo rather than remove two.

No, the "only" issue they had with the World Wildlife Fund was over the initials WWF. They (foolishly, in many people's opinion) resolved the dispute over the initials by agreeing the Fund owned the rights to them but the wrestling group would be allowed to use them provided they followed strict rules. They broke those rules, and the Fund cited breach of contract and withdrew all rights from the wrestling group. The only right they retain is to use the old logo for old footage, since it was legal at the time. They have so little right to the initials that in the rare instance where someone said "WWF", they actually have to edit out the "F". Likewise, if they show a ticket or something that says "WWF", they blur out the "F".
So, no, the scratch logo wasn't the only problem. To the contrary, after the Fund cited breach of contract, it would be more accurate to say the old non-scratch logo was the only non-problem when it came to the WWF initials.
The punchline of course is that they should never had ceded rights to the WWF initials in the first place, as they Fund really didn't have a case as it's an accepted precedent almost everywhere that companies in clearly separate business arenas can use the same names. They put themselves in this situation by taking the easy way out to avoid litigation, but then since they'd signed away their rights at that point, later when they violated the agreement they had nothing to stand on.
As for this "new" logo, it looks kind of cheap to me. For old footage, they've sometimes replaced the scratch logo with a logo similar to the old one without the "F" elements -- basically a double "W", like the current logo, but with the old metallic style. I'd think that, or a variation, would be a better bet than this clunky one with the "E" elements.
Honestly, couldn't they just make a big, fat donation to the Fund and get their rights back? They could even put pressure on them ("don't they want this money to help the animals?"). "World Wrestling Entertainment" is a fine name for the company itself, but it is a horrible name for the wrestling group depicted in the programs. It would be cool if they could go back to onscreen calling it the World Wrestling Federation or WWF.
