ROH President Talks About Booker Changes

Silkin on replacing Adam Pearce with Delirious...
ROH President Cary Silkin spoke to PWInsider earlier today about the decision to remove Adam Pearce as ROH's booker.
"We thank Adam for everything he brought to the table, but I decided to make a change. There were no problems between us. There was no blow-up and it's entirely possible he will return down the line either in front of the camera or in another backstage role."
Silkin also confirmed that Hunter "Delirious" Johnston would now be taking over as head booker starting with Friday's ROH On HDNet TV tapings. Pearce won't be at the tapings. Silkin also confirmed that Jim Cornette would continue to have influence on the TV product, adding that the company is currently in a fixed direction so massive changes aren't likely.
"Adam did a good job and I believe Hunter will do the same."
Uh-oh, a guy named Hunter with the book? Not a good sign.

Can't believe ROH just totally killed kayfabe by acknowledging that it's predetermined and Delirious isn't actually his name.
To think ROH was trying to bring back kayfabe and make it seem like a real competition with their reality based characters and competitive rankings, trying to make us believe win-loss records matter.
Lame.

When reached for comment, Delirious responded:
"Bahbahbah banannaphone bah bah. Bah!"

So, Pearce got fired and it was all very gentlemanly and polite? This whole story gets weirder and weirder. I'm not saying Pearce didn't act like a gentleman, but what did he do to get fired? It's not like he was booking stuff the owner took objection to, there was no temper tantrums, it was just the company wanted someone different but wants to go the same direction? I don't get it....

Too bad, because they could do with some massive changes - like getting back to what brought them to the table.

Someone named Hunter is a position of power.
Uh oh.

His departure may be related to his NWA obligations. Maybe they're tired of the champion being stuck in the mid-card of another company's shows.

Cornette has slowly been undermining Pearce for the past few months. Cornette will not share booking power with anyone. Delirious will either serve as a mouthpiece for Cornette's ideas or he will be removed shortly as well.
Silkin is a money mark who is too impressed by Cornette's past credentials to be able to effectively critique or control him. Ironically, their relationship mirrors that of Dixie Carter's relationship with the equally controversial Vince Russo.

He didn't break kayfabe. He said they have a new booker. As far as kayfabe is concerned, a booker determines the matches and rankings. He didn't say Delirious was writing scripts or story lines.
