The Smackdown diva is gone…
UPDATE: According to The Wrestling Observer, the decision to cut Serena was made several days ago, but just came out today.
ORIGINAL:According to Pwinsider.com, WWE has released Smackdown diva Serena. Serena had just made her in ring debut on last week's Smackdown. More details as they come.
Okay, if the IWC didn't burn their houses down over Zack Ryder, then they sure as hell will when they see this. =)

To the guy who brought up Chyna, good observation.
It's not as if Serena is at all unattractive. She looks great in a swimsuit and a good percentage of men would be too nervous to talk to her (when she had hair, I guess). She could wrestle fairly well.
WWE seems to have such a narrow perception of beauty. I'm surprised Alicia Fox is still employed, but I guess she was skinny enough to get a token for a few years.

The most famous women from wrestling are Trish, Sable, and Stacy Keibler. The current most popular one is Maryse. Of those four, Trish is the only one that could actually work a match.
We can knock Ace for alot of things, but at the end of the day, he knows what guys want to see. Sexy women = money. Women athletics do not.

True, I was just using Trish as an overall example in relation to WWE.
It seems WWE thinks any bikini model can be Trish Stratus and that's not the case.
One thing that has to be remembered is Trish Stratus was a wrestling fan, it was something she had a passion for. Most of these girls have no clue what professional wrestling is.

I'm not shocked at all.
The thing is -- WWE could do a much better job scouting rookie female talent. If they want to create Divas from scratch, they should look at college athletes.
Not all gymnasts are going to the Olympics. Not all cheerleaders will make it to pro squads.
These are good, charismatic athletes. Perhaps if WWE made the women's division good, they could attract quality female athletes (who are also attractive).

what a shame I actually met her at the airport down here in tampa last month. We were both waiting on our rides out front and I recognized her, she couldn't have been more friendly and was much more attractive in person than I wouldn've thought (even with the short hair). It's amazing how much people continue to overrate Trish's wrestling career. Don't you guys realize you are just eating up WWE's revisionist bullshit? Nobody remembers how un-over she was becoming near the end of her run? Or how weak the reactions have been for her return appearances?
I can think of a lot of women that were bigger deals than Trish ever was in WWE: Moolah, Ricther, Sable, Chyna, Lita. You could argue Stacy as well thanks to her DWTS appearance. Hell, Mickie could have easily been at Trish's level if they had actually given her decent storylines, and she's not even that good.
Trish's hotness, and the fact that her post-WWE career is going better than expected, sure is giving her a lot of unwarranted praise for her wrestling days. I respect what she's doing now, but her WWE career is greatly overrated. You're all sheep.

Serena is due on this week's smackdown taped last week, so her release probably won't be mentioned on wwe.com until the weekend. I read somewhere that her release may be kayfabe-related (Not living the straight edge lifestyle in public).. And if that is the reason, I think it's kind of cool. Some people, especially the old school guys like Taker take that seriously.

I cann't belive it! Why WWE keep doing it?! Why they released divas, who can actually wrestle? First it was Mickie James, Katie Lea, Maria (she wasn't showing much wrestling skills,but I think she had potential) and now Serena. WWE Women's division is getting worst than ever. At least there are Melina, Beth, Jillian (but WWE is wasting her talent), Natalya and Gail Kim.

Hold on boys... I found a WWE contract in my soup. The small print states that the the contract may be terminated if the bearer shows themselves to be demonstrably better than more established superstars in their division.
Maybe she should have imitated Alicia Fox in her match...?

Weak. I mean seriously. Despite not being very vocal in SES, her role as a silent follower was very intruiging and made CM Punk look great as some cult follower.
As for the comments about Tiffany should've gone first, maybe they'll punish her by making her the next SES diva.

The most famous women from wrestling are Trish, Sable, and Stacy Keibler. The current most popular one is Maryse. Of those four, Trish is the only one that could actually work a match.
We can knock Ace for alot of things, but at the end of the day, he knows what guys want to see. Sexy women = money. Women athletics do not.

Not really. When those women actually wrestled they got a crowd reaction. Now it's dead silence. Yeah we act like "omg boobies, she's hot" but if the "men only want to see hot women" thing was true in wrestling we wouldn't bitch about them wasting time or bother to praise the women that actually have some talent.

Serena is due on this week's smackdown taped last week, so her release probably won't be mentioned on wwe.com until the weekend. I read somewhere that her release may be kayfabe-related (Not living the straight edge lifestyle in public).. And if that is the reason, I think it's kind of cool. Some people, especially the old school guys like Taker take that seriously.

I hope so, maybe, if ture, she wouldn't kiss McTaker's ass or Stephanie's, who I think probably is (well from the rumors) starting to become egomanical as her hubby or dad. She is really going to be a rottweiler someday and I see why Shane and maybe Linda have distanced themselves from not only the company but their family

More proof that WWE wrestlers deserve health insurance. If they can be fired for being out of character on their own time, then they are "employees", not "independent contractors". This is ridiculous.

That's only the IWC though. You put two workers in there that aren't hot, and the crowd will care even less than they do now. At least the Sable's and the Trish's made money for the company. And they wouldn't be big draws anymore. Trish's returns have gone over like a fart in church. And they are usually in her hometown, which makes things even worse. Oh yeah, and while she might be a better worker than somebody like a Maryse, she isn't THAT much better. Somebody said it best before, her good looks really make people forget how average she was in the ring. She was just part of a better era overall.
