Claudio Castagnoli and Chris Hero Sign New ROH Contracts
Posted by Larry Csonka on 09.02.2010

- Ring of Honor sent out the following announcement today…
(Bristol, PA- September 2, 2010)- ROH officials are happy to announce that Chris Hero & Claudio Castagnoli have signed on to stay with Ring of Honor. For Chris Hero, it is an extension of his existing contract and for Claudio Castagnoli it is the signing of a new contract. The current ROH World Tag Team Champions have dominated in the tag team division since reforming at "Final Battle 2009", and have had some of the most captivating bouts of 2010 including battles against The Briscoes at "The Big Bang" and "Death Before Dishonor VIII" as well as exciting singles bouts like Hero vs. Tyler Black at "Bitter Friends, Stiffer Enemies 2" and Castagnoli vs. Black at "The Bluegrass Brawl".

"We are very happy to have Hero & Claudio on board with Ring of Honor for the foreseeable future." said ROH President Cary Silkin, "These are two of the most talented wrestlers competing today, and it's quite exciting to see how they will continue to excel not only in our tag team division, but in the singles ranks as well."

Hero & Claudio will be in action next weekend with an ROH World Tag Team Title defense against Colt Cabana & El Generico in Plymouth, MA on Sept. 10th and a Dream Tag Team match-up against Shelton Benjamin & Charlie Haas on Sept. 11th at "Glory by Honor IX".

Fuck yes!! KOW = best tag team in the WORLD bar none. I wish TNA would allow Beer Money to face them for one night only. THAT would be match of the year.

chris hero will someday come to the wwe. he has all the tools to succeed and be a top douch heel.

claudio is a fine wrestler, but he lack charisma/mic skills. but he is big and athletic, so they might grab him as well.

I bet they get paid more than half the TNA roster.

Suck on that haters...

I just hope this doesn't keep either man out of doing the occasional show for EVOLVE. That whole EVOLVE/ ROH drama needs to end.

I also wish Hero would show up in Chikara again....

Win. WWE really fucked up by letting Claudio get away from them.

WWE had Claudio, but released him due to visa issues.

Neither one fits Vince's idea of what a wrestler should look like, so I doubt he'll sign them.

Good solid tag-team. ROH still cares about the art of tag-team wrestling.

And I too give a big F*CK OFF to the ROH haters. I would rather watch great wrestling with ROH than be bored out of my mind with some of the crap that WWE and TNA show nowadays.

Hahah ROH is stil around? Spot monkeys never die

Wait what? WWE had Claudio? And they let him leave!?!

The WWE marks are out in force today! These bottom feeding, knuckle dragging, Cena loving idiots wouldn't know good wrestling if it bit them on the ass.

Chris Hero is better than EVERYONE in the WWE except Jericho, Danielson and Punk. Everyone.

Two guys to build the fed around for sure... but once again, what the heck is a ROH Contract? Don't they work wherever they want and can't they get scooped up by WWE or TNA with one phone call? I think they make commitments for advanced dates (like Danielson recently) but they don't have contracts that are for like a year exclusively. Claudio is in the primary storyline with Chikara and you can't say ROH is in a completely different league then Chikara at this point.

Are you blind or just stupid? Claudio and Hero has everything the WWE looks for moron. Their tall, built like a brick, athletic and charismatic. Not to mention they can actually wrestle. Jesus some douche bags around here really need to get a clue and stop hating on the future. A few years ago I bet all you marks were hatin on CM Punk and now you all cream your pants when he grabs a mic. fuckin bandwagon faggots

Good news for ROH.

Not to insult any ROH fans out there, but when I watch the show, these 2 guys stand out much more than anybody most recently fighting for the ROH World title, including Tyler Black, Roderick Strong and Austin Aries.

Now that Tyler is leaving, I really hope they split these 2 guys up and put them in programs for the ROH World title. I think it would be awesome to see these guys feud with each other in a best of 5 series where the belt actually switches hands a few times and then stays on one of them - preferably Claudio but that's just my opinion.

Take one look at Claudio, and you're an idiot if you think no one else would want him. He has the look WWE drools over.

Not to mention Hero is tall, in good shape and a great promo guy.

I don't have HDnet so I haven't been able to see ROH, but I will say that ROH being able to keep some talent and not losing them to WWE or TNA is great for them.

Yeah, they could work for TNA. You could book them in Paycheck on a Pole matches every week.

@Darkdan

ROH contracts basically do not mean that they are exclusive for ROH but the company can use something like a priority clause where they say that the talent appears on their shows instead of some other company (normally it comes only to use when it is about DGUSA and/or EVOLVE)

You are right about Claudio, but Chris Hero is not in GOOD shape. Some other guy said he's built like a BRICK house! Chris is tall, skinny and has a "skinny boy's belly"! He is over rated and has too many elbow strikes and his finisher is thesame elbow!!

Also the ROH contract doesn't mean PRIORITES it means they can't wrestle for DGUSA or Evolve at all!! Notice how Davey Richards has one Evolve match and then was forbidden to appear on them!! Evolve is having a lot of trouble as they built their whole fucking show on Davey and his ring skills being matched up with other BOTIW.

When the Kings of Wrestling faced off against The Set for Vanguard Championship Wrestling these two teams tore down the house. Trust me The Set are great in the ring when they are not being jobbed out by ROH. Both of these teams put on a great match. Claudio and Chris are great with the fans as well. They can also cut a good promo and get the heat. So I am happy to hear about this. The question is how long before WWE snatches them up as well. I am giving it until March of next year.
