ROH Announces Training Seminar For October
Posted by Larry Csonka on 09.02.2010

- ROH sent out the following today…
(Bristol, PA- September 2, 2010)- Ring of Honor will be holding a special training seminar and tryout camp on Sunday, October 3, 2010, from 10AM to 7PM. It will take place at ROH's headquarters and training center in suburban Philadelphia. The seminar is one again being spearheaded by ROH on HDNet Executive Producer Jim Cornette.

"The seminar we held in back in March was quite a success." Cornette said. "Already one of the participants (Mike Bennett) has been signed to a contract, and several others have competed in dark matches prior to Ring of Honor events. This is not just an audition where you pay money and get nothing in return. Everyone, both ROH and the attendees, will learn something."

Cornette, whose extensive experience in training and developing talent includes a six year stint as booker and co-owner of Ohio Valley Wrestling when it operated WWE's developmental program, explained the concept of the seminar.

"Those attending the seminar will spend all day with me, ROH owner Cary Silkin, booker/head trainer Delirious, ROH on HDNet Producer Dave Lagana, camp administrator Kevin Kelly, and ROH star Jerry Lynn. We will get their personal and professional information on file, conduct personal interviews about their backgrounds, and talk to them about the ROH style and how we plan to market it going forward. We will video tape them doing sample promos, watch them work out in the ring, and then have exhibition matches which will go on tape as well. Not only their work, but their conditioning, appearance, attitude and potential will be evaluated. We will get a complete look at the talent, and then detail for them either what they're doing right, or what they need to improve on to make it to ROH. Those who impress us will be given an opportunity to take the next step and impress the ROH fans by being booked on one or more live ROH events. ROH will continue to take major steps forward in 2011, and those plans must include being aware of and featuring the independent talent that best fits the ROH style. Not EVERYONE from the seminar will be booked, but SOME will be, and we believe everyone will get their money's worth."

The seminar is open to any current pro wrestler with at least one year's experience. Each attendee is responsible for their own transportation to and from the ROH school, and any necessary lodging. The $195 registration fee includes the day's activities as described by Jim Cornette; plus lunch, video of the campers' tryout match, and critique by the ROH staff. Enrollment is limited to 30 applicants, to insure each camper receives individual attention. To enroll, you must complete the application form, and submit it and your registration fee to ROH on or before September 23, 2010.

Your application form can be emailed to rohhelp@aol.com faxed to (215) 781-0727, or mailed to Ring of Honor, PO Box 1127, Bristol, PA 19007.

Payments for the seminar can be made by credit card, paypal, check, or money order. If you are paying with a credit card you can email the details to rohhelp@aol.com or call our office at (215) 781-2500. Paypal payments can also be sent to rohhelp@aol.com. You can mail your check or money order to Ring of Honor, PO Box 1127, Bristol, PA 19007.

"It's my hope that everyone benefits," Cornette said. "Those who attend, who either get an opportunity with ROH or learn what things to improve upon to get that chance, and ROH as well, by discovering new and potentially money-drawing talent."

If YOU feel you have the drive, determination and talent necessary to be a star in Ring of Honor, here's your chance to prove it!

I feel like this is just a money grab. ROH will continue to sign the top indy wrestlers that are making names for themselves in smaller feds.

My guess is that nobody from this seminar gets signed. ROH could prove me wrong though.

Pretty much. The only ROH student I know of that is still around is Rhett Titus. Although I do think Delirious could be a good trainer.
