Justin Long Admits His Raw Guest Hosting Experience Sucked
Posted by Steve Cook on 09.02.2010
At least he's honest about it...
Former Raw guest host & Going The Distance star Justin Long was asked about his appearance on WWE Monday Night Raw while being interviewed by Metro World News. Here's what he had to say:
"In no way am I being self-deprecating when I say that was a disaster. It was just not the audience to be promoting a movie like that to. We were so out of place. It was just awkward...They're all fired up to see guys pummeling each other, not to see three nerdy comedy guys do some bits. They played the trailer for this crowd and it just silenced them - and not in a good way."
Long was then asked how he, Jason Sudeikis and Charlie Day tried to make the best of a bad situation...
"You just commit to it as best you can. We were in Los Angeles at the Staples Center, and the only time we really had the audience on our side was when we were praising the Lakers. And before that I think the majority of them were contemplating throwing things at us. There were a few homophobic remarks. I don't want to generalize it, I know some wrestling fans. But it's just not the audience."
Shit actor. Shit comedian. Shit guest host. He hit the trivecta.

Quite frankly, having guest hosts has mostly sucked. Other than Bob Barker and a couple others, they're nothing more than time wasters.

Yeah, who'd have thought the crowd at a WRESTLING show wanted to see WRESTLING.

Wait, your 'comedy' guys? I always thought you just work for apple. I don't know the other two I don't watch hip-hop.

Every guest host should be this honest to the fans and themselves.

I just switched the channel when they were on! was so stupid!

Glad to see someone bold enough to tell the truth. The guest host bits worked best when they were played up for the kitsch that they were, not when they are done solely to promote something. That is why one of the best was Bob Barker's run, and most of the others were just plain bad. Let's hope the guest host concept is permanently gone.

guest hosts can be interesting but WWE is handling it wrong.
Book hosts that fit storylines, don't book hosts and then cram them into storylines.

He's 100% right and it wasn't his fault. The WWE is fucking stupid for bringing this people into RAW.

your turn now Piven! Man up!

Not that I'm agreeing with him, but I'm glad he said that. Not the worst guest host, but I've seen this pattern before and I'm glad someone brought it out in the open.

The guest host concept is totally lame and easily one of the worst ideas of all time. Of course "cool" people feel stupid doing it, WWE and wrestling in general is not cool and is years behind the times. Plus wrestling fans, especially "the WWE universe", are idiots.

With the majority of these guest hosts.. And how cringeworthy some moments have been, it made me wish everyone wasn't cynical and how it would be so much easier to enjoy if we were all still marks.

At least he's honest and not sugarcoating the facts.

Homophobic comments. Well if anyone has been on 411. You'll know that an unfortunate amount of fans are brain dead.

Only thing I remember about this guy's guest host bit was the ridiculously obvious fake enthusiasm. Really, how can all these people even be called hosts when lately all they get is a 3-minute segment? The whole "guest host" thing isn't worth whatever point WWE is trying to prove.

It is called a wrestling event. Then again, Raw fucking blows as does its boring fans and audience that continue to watch and attend the shitfest.

Most of the non-Wrestling guest host segments have been stupid. The exceptions being Bob Barker and William Shatner, although you also got to give credit to Mark Cuban for taking a tackle into a table by Sheamus.
