ROH Newswire Update: KOW Re-Sign, Richards to New Japan & More
Posted by Steve Cook on 09.02.2010

Ring of Honor updated their Newswire today:

- Ring of Honor is celebrating Labor Day Weekend with the return of the "Triple Savings Sale". Over 100 Ring of Honor DVD's are now priced at only $10 each. We also have General Admission tickets for upcoming live events for $10, plus take 15% Off Your Next Order at ROHWrestling.com. New DVD's added to the website to preorder are "Salvation" from Chicago Ridge, IL on 7/24/10, ROH on HDNet Vol. 3, and Shimmer Vol. 32. All three titles are scheduled to ship the week of September 13th. Our next DVD release is "Hate: Chapter II" from Collinsville, IL on 7/23/10 and that will begin shipping on Tuesday. For more information on the "Triple Savings Sale" and the latest DVD releases please click here.

- Ring of Honor will be holding another training seminar/tryout camp on Sunday October 3rd following the "ROH on HDNet" TV Tapings taking place Friday and Saturday night. Many members of the first camp have participated in dark matches prior to ROH events, and Mike Bennett was signed to an ROH contract following his participation in the camp. This is a great experience for anyone serious about professional wrestling who is looking to grow as an athlete. For all the details on the seminar click here.

- Tickets are now on sale for ROH's return to Louisville, KY on Thursday December 9th and Friday December 10th for a round of "ROH on HDNet" TV Tapings! Click here to purchase tickets for these events indiviually or take a look at the special "Two Nights Only Tag Team" package if you want to attend both events.

- During Monday night's broadcast of "ROH on HDNet", it was announced that not only would Terry Funk be available for a special autograph signing on September 11th, but he will also be serving as ringside enforcer during the ROH World Title match between champion Tyler Black and the challenger Roderick Strong.

- ROH's debut in Plymouth, MA is shaping up to be HUGE! The main event of Tyler Black vs. Christopher Daniels in a non title bout is sure to be a classic, but Ring of Honor officials wanted to give the fans of Plymouth a big title match! So El Generico and Colt Cabana were chosen to challenge for the illustrious championships on Friday night September 10th. Cabana and Generico are a very talented and popular team that unfortunately did not make it to the finals of Tag Wars 2010 due to Steve Corino pulling Cabana off the apron and brawling to the back leaving Generico with the odds stacked against him versus the All Night Express robbing the duo of a chance at tag team gold. However, Cabana and Generico have recently scored a big tag team win over the American Wolves and Cabana was able to pin Chris Hero in a one on one encounter at Bluegrass Brawl. With these wins and the team's popularity the Ring of Honor officials decided these men deserved a shot and Plymouth deserved a championship match. The King's of Wrestling vs. Colt Cabana and El Generico could steal the show!

- Speaking of championship matches in Plymouth, Prince Nana was able to work his magic and acquire a ROH Television Championship match at a non televised live event! Edwards was always planned to compete however his Television Championship was not scheduled to be on the line. After phone calls, letters, and meetings Prince Nana successfully acquired spots for the Embassy to challenge for the ROH Television Championship on both September 10th and 11th. On the 10th in Plymouth, MA Eric Stevens will challenge Eddie Edwards and in NYC on September 11th it will be Shawn Daivari against Edwards if Edwards retains in Plymouth. With chances to win gold on both nights Prince Nana has the odds in his favor and promises to do what it takes to bring gold to the Embassy. For a look at the inner workings of Prince Nana's brain, you must read this.

- In additional KoW news announced earlier today (http://www.rohwrestling.com/news/the-kings-get-inked/), Chris Hero & Claudio Castagnoli have signed their contracts with Ring of Honor and are looking forward to cementing their legacy as the greatest tag team in ROH's storied history. "Chris and Claudio dissected three of the best teams ROH had to offer during Ultimate Endurance." stated Shane Hagadorn, "And they will continue this run of dominance by brutalizing Cabana and Generico in Plymouth and putting the KO on the so-called WGGT in N…Y…C. When this is all over, the KOW will make the reign of King George III look weak."

- Recently signed ROH wrestler Mike Bennett will be put to the test in Plymouth, MA on September 10th.

- Davey Richards is off to Japan to compete on a tour with New Japan Pro Wrestling. The tour begins on September 3rd and winds up on September 26th. We wish Davey luck and look forward to his ROH return and the rest of 2010 with the American Wolf. Check out next week's ROH Video Wire for some words from Richards before he heads overseas.

- Grizzly Redwood recently had a very brutal encounter with the Necro Butcher in Charlotte, NC which saw Grizz put up a valiant effort coming close on several occasions to defeating the Butcher but ultimately caught a right handed fist to the temple allowing Necro to hit the Tiger Driver for the victory. Grizz is still not staying down as he has continued to have problems with the Embassy since Supercard of Honor V and is looking to settle the score or die trying at Glory by Honor weekend.

- There will be a total of 8 matches at Glory by Honor IX live on ippv. Advanced tickets are sold out however we will have tickets available to purchase at the door on the night of the show. If you can't make it out to the Manhattan Center catch the action at Go Fight Live. Our previous ippv's have been universally praised and this one is taking shape as possibly the best yet. Don't miss it!

- Besides Terry Funk, don't forget that Shelton Benjamin and Charlie Haas will be signing autographs prior to Glory By Honor IX. Doors are scheduled to open around 6 PM. Autograph tickets will be available to purchase next Saturday night in New York City.

- We hope that everybody has a great Labor Day weekend. We'll be back next week to announce additional matches for Plymouth, MA and Glory By Honor IX in New York along with the latest happenings in Ring of Honor.
