PWG presents Cyanide: A Loving Tribute to Poison 12/11/2010

Pro Wrestling Guerrilla returned to Reseda, CA on Saturday 12/11. I was in attendance and really enjoyed the show.

Willie Mack defeated “Pretty” Peter Avalon. This was Mack’s debut in the company & he won the crowd over, with the crowd chanting “Please come back” after the match was over.

Roderick Strong defeated “The Kentucky Gentleman” Chuck Taylor with a powerbomb. Good match between the two, Taylor does an awesome job of playing the scared opponent and was extremely entertaining the entire match.

The Cutler Bros. defeated RockNES Monsters (Johnny Goodtime & Johnny Yuma) when the Cutlers pinned Goodtime with the Slingshot Spike Tombstone Piledriver. This was my first time seeing these two tag teams and they put on a really good match that saw them fight in the crowd several times. Goodtime used Yuma as a weapon during different parts of the match, lifting him up and throwing him into the Cutlers. Great effort by both teams.

Joey Ryan defeated Brandon Gatson via submission. Ryan cut a great promo before the match to remind everyone he won the Battle of Los Angeles and can challenge Claudio Castagnoli for his title at any moment. He said he was once known as the Technical Wizard and will now be known as the Hollywood Submission Machine. Good match with Ryan working Gatson’s arm, which set up an armbar submission victory for Ryan. Why Ryan isn’t in the WWE is beyond me, he’s great on the mic and has a character that would work well in the company.

The Young Bucks (Generation Me) defeated The Fightin’ Taylor Boys (Ryan & Brian Taylor) when Jeremy Buck pinned Ryan Taylor with More Bang For Your Buck. The Bucks mentioned being TNA superstars before the match and did Ric Flair struts and mannerisms throughout the bout. Fun match that saw a lot of superkicks and false finishes.

Kevin Steen defeated Akira Tozawa with a Double Small Package Piledriver. Insane match with Tozawa taking a ton of abuse including getting powerbombed on the apron (he landed on his neck, looked VERY painful)

Peligro Abejas (Paul London & El Generico) defeated The Kings of Wrestling to retain the PWG World Tag Team Championship. The match was originally scheduled as a non-title match, but London & Generico agreed to put the title on the line if Claudio agreed to give them a title shot if they got the victory. Generico got the pin, earning a PWG Championship title shot.

After the show Paul London thanked the fans for attending & wished everyone a safe & happy holiday season. A really fun and entertaining show by PWG, if anyone has a chance to attend one of their shows they should definitely take advantage, you won’t be disappointed!
