Due to my real life schedule causing time constraints, here’s a mini-report of the March 2nd Ohio Valley Wrestling TV taping.

This was the “Go-home” show for the March 5th Saturday Night Special show, but this was not a real strong, or overly important taping. Attendance was around 70. Dean Hill and Gilbert Corsey were the TV announcers, Ron Hed and Brittany Devore were the ring announcers. No Kenny Bolin or Jim Cornette at this taping.

1. Jason Wayne beat Elvis Pridemore

Dark match. Both guys worked on each other legs. Wayne won with a roll up when Elvis missed a running knee to the corner.

2. CJ Lane beat Taryn Shay

This was the start of the TV taping. Lane beat Shay with a sunset flip, but the story here was Prince Bolin coming to the desk during this match, and then his charge James “Moose” Thomas coming out and giving the ref his “Moose kick” in the post match, as the ladies scurried away.

Gilbert Corsey got in the ring and interviewed Mohammad Ali Vaez. Vaez was now dressed as a Sheik, and wearing trunks instead of tights/pants, claiming he was going back to his roots. Vaez did not have his security guard, Mr. B, with him. Vaez said his wealthy and influential father was disappointed in him losing the OVW TV title to Rudy Switchblade, so his father gave Vaez a check. Vaez offered $2,500 to Switchblade for a chance to regain the TV title at the Saturday Night Special. Switchblade came out and accepted the match.

3. “Mr. Media” Cliff Compton w/Mo Green, Christian Mascagni, Rocco Bellagio & The Paparazzi guy beat Shiloh Jones

Compton, the current OVW heavyweight champion, beat Jones quick. The main event for the Saturday Night Special is a triple threat ladder match with Compton defending against Mike Mondo and “Lowrider” Matt Barela, with the stip that this will be the last title shot for Mondo and Barela. Another stip is Green and Mascagni will be handcuffed to officer Steve Yancy, and Bellagio is barred from the building. Yancy will also have his “cousin” with him, Lousville native Michael Bush of the NFL Oakland Raiders. You got all that?

OK, with all that in mind after Compton won this squash, he set a ladder up in the ring, and climbed to the top, and was ready to dive down on the fallen jobber Shiloh Jones, but “Lowrider” Matt Barela ran out and made the save. Barela paid a heavy price though as he was beaten down by Compton and company, and then Compton dropped the ladder down on Barela several times, until Rudy Switchblade, Jimbo Onno, and Raul Lamotta made the save.

4. The Elite(Ted McNaler & Adam Revolver) beat Mitch Johnson & Benjamin Bray

The Elite hit their double team spear spot on Bray to win it.

5. Paredyse beat Mohammad Ali Vaez by DQ

This was the TV main event. Referee Bill Clark took the mic before the bout and said it was supposed to be “Lowrider” Matt Barela vs Vaez, but after being attacked with a ladder earlier in the night, that Barela couldn’t do this match, and be ready for his Saturday Night Special ladder match, so instead enter Paredyse….Heh. Paredyse, one half of the current OVW Southern Tag team champions with Ryan Nemeth, was pretty over here tonight. Back and forth match.

Late in the match Paredyse applied a clawhold to the groin, and maybe even the Penis of Vaez. Paredyse hit a spinning neckbreaker, and appeared to have the match won, when Fighting Spirit(Raphael Constantine & Christopher Silvio) ran out and attacked Paredyse, causing the disqualification. Fighting Spirit then destroyed Paredyse, as his partner Ryan Nemeth was not at this show. Rudy Switchblade finally made the save, but it was far too little and too late. Switchblade and Paredyse feuded heavily for most of the second half of 2010. It will be Paredyse & Nemeth defending the tag titles against Fighting Spirit at Saturday Night Special.

6. Rudy Switchblade, Jimbo Onno & Raul Lamotta beat Randy Terrez & The Elite(Ted McNaler & Adam Revolver) in a six man tag

Dark match. Switchblade and Terrez have been feuding rather violently lately, and it came down to those two here. Terrez at one point missed an attempt at a twisting corkscrew Moonsault. As the Elite and Onno & Lamotta brawled on the outside, Switchblade hit a chokeslam on Terrez to win it.
