WWE News: Possible WM Addition, Change To Eight man Tag, More
Posted by Larry Csonka on 03.29.2011

- Santino Marella and Vladimir Kozlov were added to the eight-man tag against the Corre as a result of WWE Creative deciding to move Christian into a role where he will be in Edge's corner at WrestleMania 27.

- In addition to the change in Christian's direction the feeling was that Santino "earned his spot" on the card, due to his work over the years. The feeling from Management is that he hits a home run with whatever he is scripted to do and has no problem portraying himself as a silly person on TV, so they are rewarding him with the spot.

- There was talk last week about adding Drew McIntyre vs. Kofi Kingston to WrestleMania.

Heel turn from Christian, costing Edge the title, as he already knows he can beat Del Rio?

Remember the days when WWE actually had a plan for WrestleMania instead of slapping it together with days to spare? Marella and Kozlov are fine, but there's no reason for Kofi, Drew and Christian to not have a WM match.

Adding Kofi to the card might sway me into buy territory, WWE...

My suggestion - run an injury angle during the pre-show on Vladimir (Corre attacks him backstage), and have Kofi step in to replace him. Vlad can still be in his teams corner or make a run-in all bandaged up.

that makes too much sense which is why the WWE creative will not do it.

I agree with rewarding Santino but who is to say that Kofi didn't earn a spot or atleast a title rematch at Mania? Hot shot title change before mania for Barrett makes no sense its like they forgot that he may need a legit title reign since he never could win one on Raw. Makes more sense to keep him relevant by having that title change happen at Mania espeically with a guy that can atleast carry his half a match in Kingston. The rest of Core could have handled Show, Kane and Santino with that injury scenario given above.......

Guess Kofi will get the pre Mania battle royal win to keep his job since Superstars is ending those guys might be fighting for their contracts

Yeah, it sure is a tragedy for poor Christian that he's been a major part of SmackDown's biggest angle and will be a major part of a World Title match at Wrestlemania after having been booked incredibly strong since his return, pinning the #1 contender on multiple occasions. Poor, poor Christian. He should have been randomly dumped into the 8-man tag team match on the undercard instead, facing a bunch of guys he has had absolutely nothing to do with for no reason whatsoever. Damn that evil WWE and their cruel treatment of Christian!

Posted By: Guest#2683 (Guest)  on March 29, 2011 at 01:37 PM

I don't buy this. Slater/Gabriel feuded with Santino/Kozlov for quite a while prior to the Show/Kane angle. They helped each other last week but websites were still swearing up and down that Kofi and Christian would be thrown in.

I think this is another case of the most obvious booking being the correct booking all along but the dirt sheets need to cover their behinds since they got it wrong.

I doubt there was any Drew/Kofi talk either but they're the two biggest names not yet booked on the card so it needs to be tossed out there. Posts like this are why I take everything these sites report with a grain of salt.

Wasnt his reward winning Miss WM at wm25?

Totally agree terribly built Mania! It's like now that they chose to move the MITB match off of Mania they don't know what to do! I felt Christian should have been put in the Edge/ Del Rio match, why not they did it to Rey at Mania 22 adding Orton making it triple threat! And WWE constantly has guys over but becuase Cena and Orton always are in the main stories they don't use them at the height of their popularity, especially black performers! MVP ring any bells?? Booker who FINALLY towards the end of his WWE in-ring run got the title!

A heel turn for Christian is too obvious. I think Edge will lose the title cleanly and blame Christian... thus Edge will be the heel. Christian is too likable to be the heel in this one.

Santino and Kozlov? That will put butts in the seats. I'm ordering the Wrestlemania PPV right away.

Was at the (super)show last night at Allstate Arena and saw Drew McIntyre leaving with his suitcases before the show even began. Sad that on a night they taped NXT, Superstars, Raw and SmackDown, there was no room for Drew McIntyre anywhere on the card. Looks like the "E" has soured on his potential.

looks like kofi aint getting fired after all.

The Chosen One indeed. Notice how they were all too happy with Drew (even giving him the IC title) up until last summer when he got involved in that drama where his wife ended up getting arrested then later publicly started talking about the company's talent relations practices. I'm sure he loves her dearly, but his wife has been nothing but trouble for his wrestling career, and she's who I blame for his downfall.

Yeah, the good old days. Supposedly right after WM, they'd identify the next year's main event and build backwards.

As far as talent being left out, I partially blame the heavily branded PPVs.
Now that there's a MITB PPV, there's no MITB at WM.
Now that there's a Fatal 4Way PPV (still?), there's probably no chance of that type of match at WM. (Say, for the IC title)
A battle royal? Maybe in the pre-show.

Weren't the gossip sites speculating that the Scramble would take the place of MITB at WM?

Santino may not be the beat ring technician but I agree, he has earned his spot. I was at Raw last night, people were really rooting him on and at most Raws I see on TV, people really do cheer him. Why not give him a spot?

Posted By: Guest#7027 (Guest)  on March 29, 2011 at 02:57 PM

You guys are super-confused. Kofi and Drew aren't on the card because they're incredibly boring and don't belong anywhere near it.

Of course, that doesn't explain how Big Show and Kane ended up there...

Posted By: Paul (Guest)  on March 29, 2011 at 03:24 PM

Not that I want it but it would make more sense to add a Divas title match over Kofi and McIntyre. Or why not televise the pre-ppv battle royal.

Posted By: Guest#8749 (Guest)  on March 29, 2011 at 03:49 PM

So Snooki and Michael Cole are on the card but Kofi, Drew and Christian arent. Makes sense to me.

Posted By: Gigs (Guest)  on March 29, 2011 at 04:28 PM

Too bad Drew/Kofi can't be for the IC title now...

Posted By: Guest#7714 (Guest)  on March 29, 2011 at 04:31 PM

Yes, Christian will turn. He and Edge will feud (Edge's last feud before he retires).
Afterwards, hopefully Christian will work with Del Rio for the big boy belt.
But, since Vince has something against Christian for, you know, jumping ship and lighting the world of TNA on fire, he will be quickly relegated to jobs in the mid-card.
Poor Christian.

Oh, and Kofi and Drew will put butts in seats......

Kofi deserves a spot on the card, so I'd like to see this match. It would be a bit random to just appear, but this is WWE we're talking about.

But really, they should be finishing the first draft of the Wrestlemania 28 card by now.

That's great for Santino and I approve, but Kozlov too? He barely hits a single and he only scores the run when Santino is behind him smacking homers.

"Remember the days when WWE actually had a plan for WrestleMania instead of slapping it together with days to spare?"

Ah yes, those halcyon days of yore! I remember epic matches like Jake Roberts vs. George Wells, Rick Martel vs. Koko B. Ware, The Bushwhackers vs. The Fabulous Rougeau Brothers, Earthquake vs. Greg Valentine, Demolition vs. Random Japanese Wrestlers, Shawn Michaels vs. El Matador Tito Santana, Owen Hart vs. Skinner, Razor Ramon vs. Bob Backlund, The Allied Powers vs. The Blu Brothers, and, of course, the truly epic Headbangers vs. New Blackjacks vs. Godwinns vs. Furnas and LaFon four-way match. All of those astoundingly memorable WrestleMania-worthy matches were the results of blood rivalries that were set up months, nay YEARS in advance! Those were the GLORY DAYS of wrestling, indeed!

I've got a better idea for Kofi Kingston. He does a run in during the 8 man tag... then turns Heel and helps The Corre win.

No offense, but Kofi Kingston's Face character hasn't evolved much in 3 years and is becoming very stale. He's overdue for a complete makeover with a more Heelish persona.

I agree with 1 or 2 of the above posters. Santino and Koslov instead of Christian and Kofi made sense from about a couple of months ago. Whoever 'broke' the initial story of it being the latter 2 is an idiot.

Ha ha, I do too. It's always fun when the "everything sux today" folks that think the good old days were so much better get put in their place.

It's called nostalgia, folks. I understand it, but if you use your brains every once in awhile you'd probably enjoy your lives in the here and now a bit more.

Same goes for most forms of entertainment, especially music and movies.

Move on, people.

Well, it certainly is nice to see that Santino Marella is being recognized by WWE management for his hard work over the years.

Could they not see the potential quality of a Money in the Bank match involving Christian (winner) v McIntyre (potential/back-up winner) v Kofi (big spots) v Evan Bourne (see Kofi) v Alex Riley (good storyline reason - following mentor Miz's path) v R-Truth (um, fun entrance?)?

Having a brutha and the IC title on WrestleMania = win.

Poor R-Truth. He went from the main event of Elimination Chamber to not even being on the WM card.

Add Kofi vs. Drew. Please.

And let Christian win the pre-Wrestlemania battle royale.

thanks.

Thats a bigger draw than Austin vs Rock and Hogan vs Andre

They should have vladamir turn on the team and join the corre. anybody remember when he couldnt be pinned on smackdown and that was when he beat guys like hhh and jeff hardy when he was actually good. The E really dropped the ball with him.
