UPDATED: More Details On New ROH Owners The Sinclair Broadcasting Group

May 21, 2011 | Posted by Larry Csonka

UPDATE: According to Pwinsider.com, the deal with Sinclair Broadcasting almost happened 18-months ago. There were negotiations, but the two sides could not come to terms. There had been at least two other suitors who had made offers to Cary Silkin over the lat year.

* Sinclair will attempt to syndicate the series in additional markets both domestically and internationally.

* ROH had been holding off on announcing new dates for shows, due to the possible sale.

* There is no timetable to return to traditional PPV.

* HDNet retains the rights to the content for high definition broadcasting but ROH would have access and rights to the material if it is used in standard definition

* Many ROH talents are signed to deals, and the feeling is that the remaining members who aren’t signed will be offered deals or will be replaced by talents that will.

* There may be additional names, with WWE value, added to the roster. Similar to how Charlie Haas and Shelton Benjamin have.

ORIGINAL: Here are some details on the Sinclair Broadcasting Group, who purchased 100% ownership of ROH today…

* They cover roughly 22% of the country, and not every Sinclair station will be carrying ROH so a full station lineup is not available.

* Depending on the market, the plan is to air the show on Saturday nights from 9-10 or 10-11 PM. They will tape similar to what was done for HDNet, with one taping per month, but with improved production

* The plan is for the first taping in August and television debuting in late September.

* They also plan to increase the number of house shows and to target new markets. But they also plan to keep the New York, Toronto, Chicago type of markets that the company has been most successful running.

* Jim Cornette and Hunter “Delirious” Johnston will be in charge of the product itself. As of now, the plan is to present a similar product to what the company now does.

* Joe Koff of Sinclair will be the Chief Operating Officer. Also, Gary Juster, who brokered the deal, and is a former promoter for Jim Crockett and later WCW, will be the Vice President of Operations. Jim Cornette will be the Vice President in charge of creative and be the executive producer of the television show.

* Kevin Kelly will be the lead TV announcer.

* They will keep the current model of taping every house show for DVD release, and building iPPV events off television,.
