Various News: JR Talks Christian, Rock gets Award, More
Posted by Jeremy Thomas on 06.05.2011
Some Sunday morning news…
- Tomorrow's Raw has Steve Austin set for the show as well as an advertised match between the Miz and John Cena, probably a dark match. The finale of Tough Enough will air from the building as well.
- In Jim Ross' latest blog entry, he spoke about Christian's heel turn:
"After the vocal minority uproar when Christian lost the World Title on Smackdown, I mentioned that I thought that loss would likely position the skilled veteran from Ontario, not talking about Neil Young here, to become more relevant and valuable to WWE. Seems as if that has occurred as Christian, after this week's Smackdown broadcast, is arguably the brand's #1 villain. Of course there will be some who refuse to look at the reality of this matter and the fact that Christian has the opportunity to fill a huge gap and to be in plenty of main events at live events and on TV. Plus, Christian's verbal skills will be better utilized as an antagonist, IMO. The bottom line is about making money and this certainly positions Christian to have the potential to capitalize on such."
- The Rock won the "Biggest Ass Kicker" award at the Spike TV Guys Choice Awards this weekend, which he dedicated to the US Military.
- Hacksaw Jim Duggan, Bob Orton, Greg Valentine and Sunny are scheduled for the Clash At The Cove event in South Bend, Indiana on August 20th. You can learn more here.
Neil Young is from Winnipeg, Manitoba not Ontario...

I believe you J.R. I love heel christian. He is entertaining no matter what part of the card he's in, just glad to have heel christian back on my televison. He needs a big bruiser/"enforcer" again... hmmm who should he get?

Christian is a boring on the mic as a face, but I'm excited to see him back as a heel, when he can put aside all the pandering to fans and just let loose.

He was born in Ontario and lived there a few years so Jim Ross' statement still stands

I live in South Bend, and the Clash shows are awful. The promoter, Brian Costello ALWAYS books himself in the main event. Lame.

I like heel Christian fine. I don't like condescending JR any more than I like "spoils smackdown on twitter" Joey Styles (who is also condescending), though.

So I'm supposed to cheer Orton over Christian? Fuck that noise. At least Christian isn't the most boring man alive. Which I guess is why they turned him. Can't have anyone threatening Randy's position now, can we?

I too enjoy Christian as a heel...I remember an interview he did where he used to antagonise his older brothers, so naturaly...being a shit disturber should come natural as rain to him.

Wasn't that where it was heading anyway? I thought he was originally going to turn heel on Edge at some point. This just brings him back to where they were going to use him, but now as a different sort of heel.
I would think that Sheamus is the number one heel though. If Undertaker is healthy enough, I would love to see a program between the two actually. Perhaps have the Undertaker as the underdog actually with Sheamus persuing him constantly and beating him fairly regularly, culminating at Wrestlemania, where Taker gets his win back, retires, etc .. Unfortunately they'll probably do Taker/HHH one last time.

I reserve the right to boo the faces and cheer the heels.

Excuse Me! Intercontinental Champion here!
Heel Christian is always preferred to face Christian. but really, the same can be said for a good 90% of the roster.
Heel Morrison > face Morrison,
Heel R-truth > face r-truth,
Heel CM Punk > face CM Punk, etc etc.
