Jim Ross Discusses The New Shawn Michaels-Bret Hart DVD
Posted by Larry Csonka on 06.25.2011

- Jim Ross has posted a new blog, discussing the new Shawn Michaels-Bret Hart DVD that he has been working on, here are the highlights…
"Enjoyed spending parts of two days with Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels in Stamford, Ct this past week. We actually and accidentally bumped to each other at the hotel on Wednesday night and had a great visit and then had our 'official' gathering Thursday morning until mid afternoon doing the taping for the DVD project.

The HBK/Hitman DVD will be released worldwide this October and I have high expectations for the project. The two legendary, WWE stars sat side by side during the shoot facing yours truly who asked them a battery of questions.

This DVD will not solely focus on the Survivor Series in Montreal in 1997 but we obviously spend a significant amount of time discussing the 'Montreal Screw Job' and the months leading into the infamous event and how both men's careers fared after that infamous day in Montreal.

To be able to sit and talk to two WWE Hall of Famers such as Michaels and Hart who did have a bona fide rivalry at one time but also respected the other's work was a privilege for me. I'm honored to have been assigned this project and hope that it lives up to the expectations we all have for it. I know that both Shawn and Bret were very happy with the day.

For this project to strictly be about Montreal only would be a travesty because neither man's career can be solely defined by the events of the '97 Survivor Series."

Fuck YES! Next Year, bring on the Austin/Rock or Flair/Steamboat. Although that last one is a bit of a strecth.

I can not wait 4 this!!!

I hope that the interviews are not separated because I want to see HBK tell Bret in his face about how he screwed him and accepted the job.

Actually, Rock & Austin's is coming put later this year, hopefully with both men sitting down and talking.

I wonder if they will finally admit Bret was in on it as well so that Vince could finish off WCW once and for...

It's a good thing for you then that this is a video release and not a magazine article, as it clearly states in plain fucking English, which you apparently can't read, that they were sitting side by side.

I get more and more excited with each passing mention of this DVD. Absolutely cannot wait.

Did you miss it last year on RAW when Shawn told Bret TO HIS FACE that what Bret did at the time was wrong (wanting to leave with the belt)?

sold. day 1 purchase.

What's funny is that Shawn keeps making it sound like screwing Bret was the only thing Vince could do. I don't think so. I know Vince was worried Bret would possibly show up on Nitro with the WWF Championship but does anyone really think Bret would have done something like that? Sure, there's no way of knowing but it seems doubtful.

Bret was willing to lose to anybody but HBK in Montreal. They coulda trotted out the Honkey Tonk Man and Bret woulda been okay with it.

If Bret went and humped the US flag and then had a match against Angle in his hometown the reverse would have been the case where people would want to see Angle win, and Angle would have refused. HBK was just a total prick and crossed a few lines.

Time heals all wounds though, plus Bret got about 20 chair shots on Vince so I guess they're all happy now.

I cannot wait for this!!! The two greatest of all time in my opinion. FINALLY together in 1 DVD. It's gonna be awesome!

i just realised how it's kinda too bad that Hebner won't be included in this package... he's a big part of this story (at least the Montreal Screwjob part) and to do this right, i kinda feel like we need to hear from him too... oh well.

This DVD should be good. Especially for people that want to know the history that didn't watch Wrestling in that Era.

I wonder how much they'll gloss over Shawn politicking Bret for 2 years before Montreal?

HBK's a bit of a cunt.

Wrestling has become boring. :( time to stop watching for a couple years AGAIN!

It's quite hilarious how a lot of WWE fans still believe that 20 years later that the Montreal Screwjob was not scripted and not a work.

mcmahon was weorried about that no good bastard bischoff and his wcw scum bags gloating that bret signed with wcw as the wwe champion etc on nitro.

bret could not have legally taken the belt to wcw without mcmahon suing wcw just like he sued them for madus'a actions.

bret'ds match with mcmahon at mania was fake and so were the chairshots. bret and mcmahon are friends in real life because bret knows that mcmahon made him a star just likje he makes all the stupid rasslers famous under the wwe umbrella.

The problem here being that Montreal isn't Bret's hometown. Granted, the WWF is an American company and thus holds the majority of its events there, but it's akin to Shawn refusing to job in Chicago.

Sounds damn great, I just hope they put matches on here that really go the extra mile to sell it.

Doubtful, unfortunately. It'll probably be another Todd Grisham-hosted, chat-for-2-minutes-then-show-a-match kind of deal, like many of them have been lately, which I'm not a fan of. I like the 2 hour docs with clips and what not, then the spoken of matches, in their entirety (with build-up, a la the 1st Flair set) as extras.

You don't, for sure, know that he's not involved. Wasn't Flair recently on a WWE-produced set, while contracted by Dixie?

It's a good thing that "*'s" can be a contraction of another word with "is" or "was," because all indications are he's a pretty great guy now. Get over yourself. You don't know these people.

Not really. You don't have a concept as to what either doc is about then, do you?

Oh you know there will be matches; but if they want to go the extra mile, they should include EVERY MATCH IN WHICH THE TWO WERE EVER SIMULTANEOUSLY INVOLVED!

:D

This, you guys are right dude shawn was a prick back then. Even though I like what he has become now I dont think he will ever be better than Bret in the ring.

In Bret book.... Bret says the reason he did want to job/lose to Shawn in montreal is because Shawn state he wouldn't do the same for him multiple times
