Bret Hart Talks About What Was Cut From the Greatest Rivalries DVD
Posted by Chad Webb on 10.19.2011

- Bret Hart gave an interview to Scott Fishman of the Miami Herald about what was cut from the "Rivalries" DVD with Shawn Michaels to promote the DVD release.

He said: "There was a lot of stuff that didn't make the cut. I think that maybe it was redundant, but there was more talk about Shawn's role in things and he went into much more detail about his drug problems, which was what the excuse for his behavior was back then," Hart said That was not shown as much in the DVD. That is fine with me, and I'm not complaining about that. Maybe it was repeated enough times that they didn't need it in there. It was sort of said in its own way anyway. Shawn came very honest and upfront that day at the studio. He was very relaxed. We had a lot of pleasantries and easy-going conversations between takes. I felt very comfortable."

How sad that they just can't let this go.

How does cutting the stuff that has been talked about in 3 DVD's (maybe more) make him look like the "dick that he is"

People will and do change from their previous selves. The IWC kills me sometimes, I wonder how all the sanctimonious types would fare when and if a DVD was done on their lives.

Dickheads all I'd assume.

Shawn, the asshole.

I watched the documentary for this DVD and it felt incomplete. Not for the reasons Bret mentions here, but there was some definite revisionist history at work...both he and Shawn's current mutual admiration society seemed to color their remembrance of their past disputes.

I'm glad that both men are on good terms now, but I thought they could at least have been a little more honest about they once despised one another.

Bret is such a prick.

Shawn never should have apologized.

You are so right, dude! I want to weep for them because of all the money they are going to make off of this! Why would they do this to themselves? Why? :'(

So did they cut the part where they finally admit this was worked?

If drugs were the reason for Shawn's behavior, what was Bret's? I know I can't wait for this Blu Ray. I just hope that Shawn's need for forgiveness and Christian lifestyle doesn't mean that Bret gets away with his attitude and markishness for his own character.

I imagine what they cut was what they figured would make the company look bad. Reports of rampant drug use aren't exactly positive.

Having seen the interview, I can honestly say I came away with an appreciation for both sides. I'm the biggest Bret mark you will find but I always sides against him in the Montreal fall out.

Now having watched this, Shawn and Bret both admit their behaviour made this an untenable situation. It was a classic case of each side losing all trust with the other and when innocent incidents occurred, they were taken all out of proportions.

It was great hearing SHawn talk about his "Lost Smile" stuff. Finally getting to hear about how things went down and then doing to stuff to deliberately piss the other wrestlers off because they didn't believe him.

Perhaps the biggest surprise was how they got together to work the locker room into thinking they were actually at odds and actually ended up shooting on themselves because the lines got blurred.

Anyway, watch it with an open mind...

I love how Brett makes it out like HBK did something completely awful at the same level as beating someone to death. HBK and Mac went off script and a fake title was passed on to another scripted champion. It's completely beyond me why people still care about this.

So like can we get over this ? It's not that big of a deal. Does Bret know wrestling is fake ? Like the title is a work..... Seriously.

Those defending Shawn forget that long after he changed he threw a backstage fit about the colors on Umaga's tights being the same as HHH's. That's why Bret says his excuse was drugs meaning he's just an asshole in general.

We all know Shawn had a drug problem, how many more times does he have to admit it?
