Identity of the WWE Star Behind the Mysterious Return Videos (SPOILERS)
Posted by Larry Csonka on 12.06.2011

According to Pwinsider.com, WWE sources have stated that the YouTube videos that have been inserted into Raw for the last few weeks are building to he return of Chris Jericho at the January 2nd Raw in Memphis, TN. The wording of the video was done to make people think that it would be Undertaker, but he is currently not scheduled to return until after the Royal Rumble. Jericho has continued to deny that he is returning, which is something he has always done in a way to keep fans guessing about his status.

It would have been cooler if it were Kane of taker.

But Jericho? Jericho?

That's gonna suck.

it's obvious that the first four comments were made by the same person. looks like randall will have someone to headline 'mania with

Wow, for once I'm upset I read a spoiler. This would be way better as a shock to everyone.

it is a work at WWE. stink already said on twitter he is coming to the WWE

Posted By: Guest#2890 (Guest)  on December 06, 2011 at 01:14 PM

thank god. a great contender for punk, and will work great with raw's upper midcard like dolph, swagger, and ryder.

and to the smart asses above, a veteran coming back isn't a bad thing if he can still go and he helps people get over. like jericho always does.

Posted By: wrestlingsOK (Guest)  on December 06, 2011 at 01:14 PM

Awesome. He's great and his presence has sorely been missed.

Posted By: Tbone3771 (Guest)  on December 06, 2011 at 01:18 PM

I like that someone just posted six times in a row under different guest names to troll Jericho and WWE fans. Thats commitment

Posted By: Nathan (Guest)  on December 06, 2011 at 01:18 PM

Old wrestler? Um how is being in your very early 40's considered old when TNA (Totally Now Ancient) has 3 wrestlers in their late 50's/early 60's on their payroll and are part of storylines weekly? Chris Jericho can still hold his own, while Hogan, Flair, and Sting cannot even hold their walkers!!!

Posted By: Guest#2756 (Guest)  on December 06, 2011 at 01:18 PM

Wow, not a lot of love for Y2J, huh? I'm pretty stoked about it. He was always one of my favorites. Another guy that can "work" is a GOOD thing considering Vince seems to be going thru one of his phases where he's letting guys have decent matches again.

Posted By: J.Thunder (Guest)  on December 06, 2011 at 01:22 PM

Awful. This will stink.

As for Jericho returning? I'm all for it, big fan of his band, bigger fan of him in t'ring

Oh man...not ANOTHER Jericho video.
Those things are out of style like Hulkamania!

Where can I find a link to this video? Checked WWE's youtube and nothing...

Jericho has continued to deny that he is returning, which is something he has always done in a way to keep fans guessing about his status.

Good for Jericho for working the fans. There aren't many surprises left in wrestling anymore, which is something fans love. I'm actually sorry I read this, because I assumed it was Kane returning, and if it is Jericho who is returning, I "spoiled" the surprise for myself. And don't expect him to get a huge pop, because, before he left he was a heel. So if he does return and doesn't get a big positive reaction, don't everyone start saying "Jericho isn't over". "Jericho sucks". "No one care about him", blah blah blah. Heels aren't cheered and generally don't win matches. He may just be returning to set up a Royal Rumble match, at Vince's request, to increase buy rates and/or to put over new talent. If Jericho wants to be cheered instead of being booed, he will just work us all again to make us turn him face. This is why I don't read spoilers, unless it's TNA spoilers because I don't watch TNA. I want to be surprised. That's part of the fun of watching wrestling.

Great...another over the top Jericho return with no meaning or purpose.

Posted By: janet (Guest)  on December 06, 2011 at 01:24 PM

Jericho's either deliberately denying it or is so drunk he himself forgot that it was happening. I'm leaning towards the latter.

Posted By: Posttentious (Guest)  on December 06, 2011 at 01:24 PM

Jericho? Well that is going to suck!

Posted By: urkel (Guest)  on December 06, 2011 at 01:24 PM

Another old guy? WWE, are you guys not happy with Nash and Foley?

Posted By: quincey (Guest)  on December 06, 2011 at 01:25 PM

Jericho? I guess we are back to shining that old turd again!

Posted By: norton (Guest)  on December 06, 2011 at 01:26 PM

jericho returns and wins the rumble..
jericho vs undertaker for the title...at mania...taker wins, makes it 20-0..then DANIEL BRYAN cashes in his mitb and wins the title, getting taker to tap!!!!

that would be awesome.

Posted By: grizzly (Guest)  on December 06, 2011 at 01:27 PM

Great. Another return from a star who can wrestle and entertain.

This is getting old, WWE.

Posted By: Marcy (Guest)  on December 06, 2011 at 01:28 PM

I love that Jericho is returning! I would have preferred he did it without the stupid mysterious videos though.

Posted By: Guest#6483 (Guest)  on December 06, 2011 at 01:28 PM

I honestly do not understand how those videos relate to chris jericho. I mean, just imagine it. on raw, mysterious video plays during CM punk promo time. light goes out, and we get the same old big pyro and break the walls down crap. I guess what I am saying is, OMG I cant imagine what his gimmick woud be and he seriously needs his theme changed.

Posted By: I eee (Guest)  on December 06, 2011 at 01:29 PM

Wow, another Jericho video.
I rather be tied to a chair and be forced to listen to Fozzy!

Kinda upset I read this, but nonetheless, really happy to have Jericho back in the WWE, even if it's a limited time. There's no question now he's facing Punk at WM.

Jericho is old news. It would have been cooler for Kane.

Posted By: Rahim Wright (Guest)  on December 06, 2011 at 01:41 PM

To those regretting clicking on this link and being "spoiled", this really doesn't spoil anything. The leading theory was that it was Jericho anyways, and even if this article has a source that says it's Jericho, those so-called sources seem to at best post educated guesses, as they're really only right after reporting something obvious or something that is a possibility (but in no way confirmed). Truth is we're not gonna know until the 2nd who the videos are really for. And while I do think it's Jericho, no amount of experts can actually confirm that until he's on the screen on January 2nd.

Posted By: Guest#9472 (Guest)  on December 06, 2011 at 01:43 PM

Jericho is one of the all time top 50 performers and is great on the mic. He can be useful to the younger stars, especially the MIZ. He isnt like hulk hogan.

The next time TNA fans bitch and whine about "OMG, WWE FANS ARE ALWAYS SPAMMING THE COMMENT SECTION OF TNA STORIES!", I will point them directly to this page and the obvious troll who posted as several different people, all with negative things to say.

Frankly, I am excited for him to return. Jericho does business the right way. He works his ass off, he's great in and out of the ring and he's always willing to put people over.

I more interested in Masked Kane's return, than both Jericho and Taker combined.

It's funny how Jericho used to be the hot new thing back when he first debuted with the E (his countdown intro was pretty cool). Now he's the Old Guy Hogging the Spotlight. So how long should a wrestler's career be acceptable with the IWC? 2 years? Enough to get the green off and then retire?

Posted By: demOcratic (Guest)  on December 06, 2011 at 02:08 PM

Posted By: Guest#3870 (Guest)  on December 06, 2011 at 02:28 PM

First six comments by the same guy.

Anyway, it would be nice if they did these videos to introduce new characters, or give depth to existing characters.

I saw one with Zeke on Smackdown a couple weeks ago that was okay, but I especially liked what they did with Kharma's debut.

Remember when Nathan Jones came out?
WWE has a great production department, and it would take a about 5 minutes of total TV time over a month to get a guy over before he even steps through the curtain.

Pretentious/snarky comment #63

i hope he faces the undertaker at wrestlemania and not that tattoed guy who holds the wwe championship.

Posted By: Guest#1933 (Guest)  on December 06, 2011 at 02:41 PM

OMG all this "should have been Kane" and "should have been Taker" is too funny. Seriously, how are they any "fresher" LOL. I love Kane, but am I the only one who thinks everything about taker has become as stale as anything in the business. At least Jericho (and Kane to a degree) changes things up a bit and goes out of his way to put other guys over. Taker on the other hand has had the exact same slow boring entrance and promos for almost a decade now. At least as the American BadAss he talked normally and showed some personality.

Posted By: Alan (Guest)  on December 06, 2011 at 02:56 PM

This sucks. I was hoping for Seth Rollins, Dean Ambrose, hell, maybe even Skip Sheffield. But now we're going to have an old, overrated, and washed up wrestler hogging the spotlight from the REAL talent. Jericho hasn't had a good match in AT LEAST 10 years. He should give it up.

Posted By: Guest#5003 (Guest)  on December 06, 2011 at 03:12 PM

Jan 2nd: Guy comes out in a hooded robe, with the monks, after the video plays. Jericho pulls back the hood for the reveal, asks the crowd "You were expecting someone else, ass clowns?" The gong then rings, Taker comes out, Jericho runs for his life, and the Mania match is set.

Won't happen. If this match does occur, the WWE will neuter it by only giving it 10 - 12 minutes. Just like they did with Rey/Punk. If the WWE can help it, no lower card WM match will be bigger than the main event.

Bring back the first run, hothead Jericho, not the second run, conceited, "slow clap" Jericho. Or perhaps, more of a mix. But, sure, Jericho!

There is a boy and a girl in the video, so that makes me think Shane and Stephanie...

if you so upset you can blame yourself. the heading said SPOILERS.

SMH.

I'm fine with it. Punk vs Jericho. unfortunately Del Rio isn't a very interesting heel. He needs to hold the US belt.

Punks snarky attitude is getting boring and needs some Jericho big words to get a fire going. plus the matches will be pretty good.

Posted By: MadLib (Guest)  on December 06, 2011 at 04:04 PM

Wasn't Jericho the shit before he left? Why would people actually complain about this? He was the best heel for about a year, and put on good matches with everybody.

Haters be hating...Chris Jericho is the man and is more entertaining on the mike and in the ring than 90% of the current roster. Why would anyone have a problem with him returning?

Though I'm happy to see Jericho back, how exactly is this being "original" and "unique", Jericho?

This is the same damn thing he does every single time.

He's becoming the M Night of wrestling.

Him v Taker at WM. that is reason enough for Jericho to come back and it doesn't hog the spotlight off of anything current.

Posted By: Curtis (Guest)  on December 06, 2011 at 04:54 PM

I am super psyched. Last I remember Jericho was killing it in pretty much everything he was doing. Mysterio, Michaels, Jerishow, Edge. Why all the disapointment. Punk V Jericho is gonna rule. Jericho v Ziggler would be great, and if he is back by Mania maybe another Rock match around that time.

Posted By: guest (Guest)  on December 06, 2011 at 05:02 PM

if jericho was going to TNA the TNA marks would love it.

Punk/Y2J/Ziggler triple threat at Mania would rule! I doubt Dolph gets that shot, so hopefully we get Punk/Jericho at WM.

Posted By: Still Guest#8287 (Guest)  on December 06, 2011 at 05:32 PM

I hope we get punk v jericho at mania for the title. That would be a quality undercard match to Rock v Cena

Posted By: Big Dirty (Guest)  on December 06, 2011 at 05:32 PM

Have a good look at the TNA viral marketing team in action on this article. This is why the TNA articles get trolled so hard now by WWE marks. Remember this the next time you read an idiotic comment trolling a TNA article.

Cool! Always been a big fan of his..went to Raw in Hershey a few weeks ago a ]nd saw a couple Y2J signs and thought that was cool. What's with all the hate trolls? I'm sure as soon as he comes back you'll be cheering like everybody else...

I thought Jericho was wise enough to wait until the Rock came and went before joining up again. If he comes back while the Rock is still the focal point, he'll just get lost in the shuffle.
He's probably wanting to get that fat WM payday since the buyrates will be far higher than average this time around.

Ditto to Killer...Seriously?? Look at some of Nash's main events in 1995 and 1996. If you think the Mania match with Shawn at XI, the ridiculously awesome "Good Friends, Better Enemies" match, the Survivor Series match with Bret, and the Mania XII match with Taker were "talentless," you should probably just stop watching..

Won't happen. If this match does occur, the WWE will neuter it by only giving it 10 - 12 minutes. Just like they did with Rey/Punk. If the WWE can help it, no lower card WM match will be bigger than the main event.

Posted By: mogamer (Guest) on December 06, 2011 at 03:38 PM

Why would Punk/Jericho not be a main event match? Other than Rock/Cena, what would be bigger?

Are you people kidding me? Jericho is one of those guys that has natural charisma and natural talent. Even at an older age, he is much more entertaining then some of the younger talent being thrust at us. He can produce a decent match with a broom stick, and can cut an amazing promo without a voice. I hope the younger wrestlers pay close attention to his matches and promos and take notes, much like they should when Rock is standing in the ring.

Posted By: Guest#2685 (Guest)  on December 06, 2011 at 10:59 PM

Why not just have him debut at the Rumble? You could segue the rumble countdown with his classis Y2J countdown...and have him win, who else is going to?

The great thing about 411 is I remember reading on here when people were bitching about how the nWo (Hogan, Nash, etc) were hogging the spotlight and old and how guys like Jericho should get a shot and now he is old and they need to give younger guys a break.

Here's a hint. Hogan and Nash rarely (if ever) put over new talent. Jericho does. So stop your crying and be thankful.
