Randy Orton's Injury Causes Potential WWE Plan Changes (POTENTIAL SPOILERS)
Posted by Jeremy Thomas on 01.02.2012
The company had plans for him...
- Randy Orton's injury has derailed some plans WWE had for the road to WrestleMania. At one point, Orton was scheduled to win the Royal Rumble, which would have taken place in his hometown of St. Louis, but the injury has made them rethink that. The company could still go with those plans because one doesn't have to be as physically involved in the Rumble as one is in a regular match. There's also consideration to have him recover for the whole of January and then return at the Elimination Chamber in February, where he could still earn a title shot for WrestleMania.

Why couldn't Punk have got injured?

I hope he doesn't kill his family and/or develop a drug and steroid habit.
Posted By: Benoit Guerrero (Guest) on January 02, 2012 at 05:25 PM
Orton's injured? I didn't even know that. Well at least now we know he won't squash Daniel Bryan like he did to Christian, lol.

Meltzer and his Phoney News.
jeez, you think that could happen?
Let me guess, it "could or could not happen" and "Plans can Change"
your not relevant, you dont have backstage connections, Meltzer is a Fraud

Is anyone really gonna notice if he's not on tv?
Posted By: Guest#1810 (Guest) on January 02, 2012 at 05:31 PM
Del Rio was a huge flop but I don't like orton either
Posted By: femmy q (Guest) on January 02, 2012 at 05:31 PM
Is this going to be an Edge like scenario where a guy returns way too early to win the rumble and puts in lackluster performances for the next few months? Better for him to return when fully fit.
Posted By: Guest#6803 (Guest) on January 02, 2012 at 05:32 PM
Good, theres way many other individuals who could use the credibiity to get to that next level. Ziggler, Sheamus, Rhodes to name a few.

Here's an idea:
Can the Royal Rumble actually win the title at Mania this year?
Posted By: Sailorman (Guest) on January 02, 2012 at 05:35 PM
Orton v Bryan at Wrestlemania. BOOK IT!
Posted By: Guest#3663 (Guest) on January 02, 2012 at 05:35 PM
Orton vs Punk
Roc vs Cena
Hogan vs Undertaker
This should be the best WM in many years.
Posted By: Guest#3035 (Guest) on January 02, 2012 at 05:38 PM
He does NOT need to win the rumble! Stop depending on his. It's cool for his to wrestle at mania, but come on get some new people up there. Sheamus, Cody, Ziggler anyone else could win the rumble and get a chance. Orton already won the rumble once, doesn't need to again. I hope they give him the time off to recover. I am bitter about the idea of him winning the rumble but I don't want him to get hurt worse cause they rushed him back.

Says who?
Posted By: Flinny 316 (Guest) on January 02, 2012 at 05:45 PM
This isnt news to fans who actually follow the WWE....once I heard that the Rumble would be held in St. Louis....I knew Orton would win the rumble....
Posted By: Fern (Guest) on January 02, 2012 at 05:45 PM
That's not how the hometown curse works!
Maybe the wwe will realize something. Jobbing out the hometown star on a constant basis will not tet the opponent heat outside that hometown.
Posted By: CK (Guest) on January 02, 2012 at 05:54 PM
Yeah just keep putting the title on Orton, that's how you keep the talent and fans happy.
Posted By: cwell510 (Guest) on January 02, 2012 at 05:59 PM
Meh... who cares?
Posted By: Spener Mallard (Guest) on January 02, 2012 at 06:07 PM
I heard that Eli Cottonwood was going to win the Rumble and take on Hogan for the title at 'mania. See, I can speculate about stuff you can't prove too, I don't claim it to be news though.
Posted By: Guest#4717 (Guest) on January 02, 2012 at 06:08 PM
So there's
1. Someone winning in their hometown
2. WWE planning more than a month ahead
3. as reported by dirtsheets
that's 3 strikes against any credibility this has despite only being a few lines long. That's pretty impresive.
Posted By: Big Lantern Ghost (Guest) on January 02, 2012 at 06:08 PM
I'd prefer that he take some time off (as much as needed) and come back with a new angle, because "The Viper" shtick has gotten old. He went from overexposed champion to forgettable upper-mid card face this year. He can use the time to rethink his character and become even better in the ring.
Posted By: Vince Osorio (Registered) on January 02, 2012 at 06:19 PM
He's still the Mystery Rumble Entrant at #30. Just like Cena and Edge. I'm calling it now.
Posted By: Guest#3286 (Guest) on January 02, 2012 at 06:24 PM
He already won the rumble before anyway. War Sheamus!
Posted By: beerslayer (Guest) on January 02, 2012 at 06:27 PM
Yippee. Another Orton title reign. YAWN!
Posted By: Guy Smiley (Guest) on January 02, 2012 at 06:27 PM
IS THERE ANY TRUTH TO THIS?!?
I can't see why they wouldn't push Barrett, Ziggler or Jericho if he returns. WWE needs to stop pushing Orton & Cena in the Rumble.
Posted By: Funkydunk (Guest) on January 02, 2012 at 06:27 PM
Seriously don't go with Orton!
I like the guy but I just don't see him as a main eventer at Mania!
Card should have 3 main events:
John Cena vs The Rock
CM Punk vs Chris Jericho (if he returns)
Daniel Bryan vs Christian
Posted By: n.W.o (Guest) on January 02, 2012 at 06:28 PM
I hope he returns healthy but don't want him, cena, or punk, for whatever reason, taker or triple H. Winning. The rumble at one point use to be fun to watch, now its like take your pick of the top stars an that's who's going to win. Or which top star is making a return. Have someone like ziggler or christian when, or a returning Jericho.

Randy Orton winning the Royal Rumble to compete at Wrestlemania in a World Title match? That's never happened before.
Posted By: Guest#0091 (Guest) on January 02, 2012 at 06:42 PM
I for one am grateful. Not because of the injury because that sucks, but for Orton not winning the Rumble
Posted By: APrince66 (Guest) on January 02, 2012 at 06:44 PM
I hope Randy recovers quickly.
Posted By: Guest#6045 (Guest) on January 02, 2012 at 07:03 PM
The problem with the Rumble is that it's importance has been jobbed out to pop a buyrate for the Elimination Chamber PPV. We used to have a pretty good idea of the Wrestlemania main event after January but now we have to wait for what wacky swerves and last minute title changes the creative team has in store because Vince gets paranoid about their future story plans getting out...I mean, seriously, Edge vs Jericho at Mania 26 with one month of build? Jericho couldn't have won the title earlier to build it up better? The one thing this upcoming Rumble seriously needs is for the winner of the Rumble to win the title at Wrestlmania... We haven't had that since 2007!!!

Go to the papers if you have to, Randy!!!!

They somehow managed to get every freak and creep in the universe on this one plane, and then somehow managed to let them take it over, and then they somehow managed to stick us right smack in the middle. And I hope you get bettuh, Randeh Orton.

So if WWE are allegedy in a panic about Punk & Bryan drawing low ratings as world champs...why are they giving RKObot yet another world title reign that won't draw, just like the 9 before it?

Shut up about CM Punk and Daniel Bryan already! Just because people like you like them, doesn't mean the average wrestling fan does!

I thought Randy Orton was the most overrated performer from 2006-2010. This year CM PUNK won that followed closely by Sheamus. Punk pushed to two boring predictible world title runs and Sheamus wouldnt job to anyone post Mania not even the unstoppable Mark Henry. Randy Orton was the most improved Superstar this year his feud with Christian was the best and way more entertaining FOR WRESTLING FANS YES REAL WRESTLING FANS while RAW had CM Punk's "so cutting edge and innovative" *rolls eyes* speeches. I cant wait for Randy to return I want him to destroy everyone because if Cena isnt the guy it is Orton. He has vastly improved and is only 31. Looks like a Superstar not a mechanic at Wal-Mart like CM Punk if Orton cant win it Christian should. Christian vs Orton again maybe move it to RAW this time. Next injury please be CM PUNK.
