WWE Using Twilight Idea For Cena/Rock WM28 Build
Posted by Ashish on 01.16.2012
Interesting idea...
Stephanie McMahon revealed in her interview with Entertainment Weekly that WWE plans to take a page out of the Twilight book to promote the John Cena vs. The Rock WrestleMania 28 main event. She said she wants fans to get engaged like teams similar to Team Edward vs. Team Jacob.
"My team talked about ways to get people engaged in our main event, which is The Rock against John Cena. We want fans to take sides and engage in virtual face-offs - think Team Edward vs. Team Jacob."
* ASK 411 MOVIES: Has The Rock had the best movie career of a wrestler? What are the details on the Chris Benoit movie?
Best way to turn John cena heel. Make him glitter!

I think I just got a nosebleed.

Well hell, just go all Texas/OU with it and split the stadium in half.
On one side you'll have all the kids and women and the other side all the guys.

WTC, really??? People complain enough about PG-13, now you wanna give em this??? Actually, now everyone can compare it to all the teams that went around in TNA..

Hunter, the next time Stephanie mentions Twilight smack her. I don't care if it's while your making love, during dinner with in front of your children, or at televised press release against women abuse. The second she says it smack her.

Gotta admit, Team Cena right over here.

That's pretty much what's being on for a year Team Bring It Vs. The C-Nation. How's this news? Marks.
Posted By: Burt Bangle (Guest) on January 16, 2012 at 04:02 PM
Because Twilight fans watch WWE?
What a dumb idea...must be nice to be the bosses daughter and guaranteed a job for life no matter how bad your ideas suck
Posted By: Guest#6744 (Guest) on January 16, 2012 at 04:02 PM
So its...
Team Bring It (via satellite) vs Team Nobody likes me over the age of 12.....honestly I will order Mania, but this isn't the reason why.
Posted By: Whack (Guest) on January 16, 2012 at 04:03 PM
Oh dear god why?
Posted By: Guest#3326 (Guest) on January 16, 2012 at 04:05 PM
I thought they were already doing that?
Posted By: Frank (Guest) on January 16, 2012 at 04:05 PM
wow...sounds a little over-the-top to me.;-P
Let's hope they can put together a good card around these guys. Last year's WrestleMania didn't seem like that big of a deal to me.
They've still got a lot of young upcoming guys who need a lot of grooming.
Posted By: onephatdude (Guest) on January 16, 2012 at 04:07 PM
Team Rocky is gonna be a hell of a lot bigger.
Posted By: Jared B. (Guest) on January 16, 2012 at 04:10 PM
Aint Team Bring It and Cenation like that?
Posted By: mr (Guest) on January 16, 2012 at 04:10 PM
Both products are in line with each other as far as age demographic and literary esteem. What a sad state. I miss wrestling.

I don't want to live on this planet anymore.
Posted By: Prof. Hubert Farnsworth (Guest) on January 16, 2012 at 04:12 PM
I want to be on Team Rock. Has anyone seen my car keys?
Posted By: Rikishi (Guest) on January 16, 2012 at 04:13 PM
A Twilight reference, that will get fans interested...
Posted By: Guest#8499 (Guest) on January 16, 2012 at 04:14 PM
wes kirk is going to have a field day with this one
Posted By: Guest#7100 (Guest) on January 16, 2012 at 04:14 PM
Well it's not exactly a direct twilight takeoff. It's something sports teams have been doing for decades.
Posted By: Rick (Guest) on January 16, 2012 at 04:19 PM
TWILIGHT?! For fucks sake!
Posted By: Andy (Guest) on January 16, 2012 at 04:19 PM
None of this is going to matter if Rock is never on TV. Why did they push him down our throats 6 months ago, only to forget about him through the winter, when the event is only a few months away?
Posted By: Jason (Guest) on January 16, 2012 at 04:29 PM
So, could this also be called Team Kid vs. Team Adult?
Posted By: Travis (Guest) on January 16, 2012 at 04:32 PM
< shoots my self WHO IS COMMING UP WITH THESE STUPID IDEAS
Posted By: Jeff Copeland (Guest) on January 16, 2012 at 04:37 PM
Havnt they already been doing that?
Posted By: AG Awesome (Guest) on January 16, 2012 at 04:47 PM
This is pointless because John Cena would be the only guy on Team Cena.
Posted By: J-Dizzle (Guest) on January 16, 2012 at 04:49 PM
Oh fuck off!
Twilight for inspiration? What a fucking joke.
Posted By: The Truth of It All (Guest) on January 16, 2012 at 04:53 PM
Not a bad idea.
Posted By: Roberto from Austin (Guest) on January 16, 2012 at 04:59 PM
Please, don't bring any Twilight ideas into wrestling
Posted By: Ugh (Guest) on January 16, 2012 at 05:00 PM
They should make t-shirts! FYI, WWE? If you want to sell out then all of the Team Cena shirts should be no bigger than youth mediums. Play to your target audience.

Welcome back to WCW 2000, or as we now like to call it, the WWE.
But as many of you like to point out: don't worry, this is just building up to something bigger, at least it's not bush-league TNA.
Can't wait for tonight's Raw with Perez Hilton.
Posted By: L. (Guest) on January 16, 2012 at 05:24 PM
So who's Bella? Is it Zack Ryder?
Posted By: Guest#2338 (Guest) on January 16, 2012 at 05:30 PM
you guys obviously know nothing about business and do nothing but sit on your asses all day complaining about everything that has to do with wrestling its a very smart move on the wwe and it can catch on as long as the cena fans buy into the idea the guys will follow women drive almost every form of entertainment if the women dont buy people dont care its that simple i like the idea doesnt mean im gonna go and buy a team bring it shirt but as a financial move its really good
Posted By: LouisElDuro (Guest) on January 16, 2012 at 05:39 PM
Team CenA!!!
Posted By: Cole miner (Guest) on January 16, 2012 at 05:49 PM
Might as well make them kiss in the middle of the ring.
Posted By: Geo (Guest) on January 16, 2012 at 05:55 PM
i think its a good move. you guys are narrow minded tards.
Posted By: Guest#4506 (Guest) on January 16, 2012 at 05:56 PM
HOw bout focusing on making Wrestlemania worth watching.
Posted By: Guest#5663 (Guest) on January 16, 2012 at 06:07 PM
Fantastic idea by the WWE!! Love it!! It's a tough choice, but I'm Team CeNation!!!
Posted By: elvylanda (Guest) on January 16, 2012 at 06:07 PM
Team Jacob all the way.
No, I'm not being ironic.
Posted By: Vince Osorio (Registered) on January 16, 2012 at 06:08 PM
You people are idiots. They aren't using ANYTHING Twilight related outside the IDEA of splitting the fans down the middle between the two sides.
Posted By: statguy86 (Guest) on January 16, 2012 at 06:10 PM
benoit deserves to be in the HOF its a wrestling hof not a personal hof
Posted By: Guest#4662 (Guest) on January 16, 2012 at 06:21 PM
"We want fans to take sides and engage in virtual face-offs"
Team Cena and Team Rock T-shirts ($19.95) to appear shortly at WWe Merchandise Online...
Posted By: b-dag (Guest) on January 16, 2012 at 06:25 PM
Silly. Team Bring It is a concept from 2001. Stephanie can take credit for the horrible Cena promos and directions if she wants though...sounds about right.
Posted By: Erik (Guest) on January 16, 2012 at 06:30 PM
So either Rock or Cena will morph into a wolf at some point... With the vast ways wrestling promoters had to build up big matches in the past (in the 70s-80s alone), WWE has to resort to a teenager book to tell storylines and build drama... Oh wait, WWE is an sports entertainment brand, not a wrestling company...
Posted By: Julio Moreno (Guest) on January 16, 2012 at 06:34 PM
Punk can't make an appearance with obvious cross-market appeal but they lift ideas from tween movies about faeries?
Did You Know?
Stephanie is a moron.
Posted By: Guest#7528 (Guest) on January 16, 2012 at 07:00 PM
The Rock had to move away for a while to sort things out, earn some money so when he came back we could get the most out of him. I don't expect you to understand, you are too little, but I just know your love for him will only grow while he's away.
Posted By: baby (Guest) on January 16, 2012 at 07:03 PM
Just do it like Rock vs. Hogan
Posted By: Hanabata Boy (Guest) on January 16, 2012 at 07:15 PM
Hey I told Steph this was a bad idea bringing our role playing bedroom games to the product but hey...$#!t happens
Posted By: HHH (Guest) on January 16, 2012 at 07:31 PM
ok calm down people. It's stupid, but it's obvious she is talking about from a marketing/business perspective, not a creative/storyline perspective.
Posted By: rshort2001 (Guest) on January 16, 2012 at 07:37 PM
This is what happens when Daddy's Little Girl runs creative. You get TWWElight.
This is why I find myself watching UFC/SF/Bellator more and more and watching wrestling less & less.
Best booked wrestling product right now is UFC.
Posted By: SA (Guest) on January 16, 2012 at 08:07 PM
Not a soul will team with that sell out rock.
Posted By: Guest#8273 (Guest) on January 16, 2012 at 08:14 PM
i think its a good move. you guys are narrow minded tards.
Posted By: Guest#4506 (Guest) on January 16, 2012 at 05:56 PM
This is why I love the IWC. Only here could someone not realize the hypocrisy of calling others narrow-minded and retarded simultaneously.
Troll on, my brothers. Troll on.
Posted By: Ron Mexico (Guest) on January 16, 2012 at 08:23 PM
Of all the movies to swipe from, they choose that shitty teen romance crap? Might as well make them fight over a homely girl while they're at it. And, well, this is wrestling, so there a good amount of shirtless scenes...
