Hulk Hogan Says He Turned Down Lead Role in The Wrestler Posted by Jeremy Thomas on 01.27.2012
The Hogan crazy train continues...
- Hulk Hogan recently claimed that he was offered but turned down the lead role in Darren Aronofsky's The Wrestler, which Mickey Rourke won an Oscar nomination for. Hogan said that he was offered the lead role on three separate occasions and noted, "When the script for The Wrestler kept coming to me I said, 'This movie is so good if you put me in the film as a wrestler people are going to say, "No credibility, Hulk Hogan isn't a good actor", whatever Hollywood thinks of me'. As soon as they put Mickey Rourke in there I knew it had a chance, and he did such a great, great job it relit his career."
Hogan also claimed that he was offered the lead role in Highlander and that of Little John in Robin Hood: Men in Tights but turned them down as well.
its official. hogan is more crazy than kurt angle.

Thank god he turned down all those roles! Those movies would have been horrible with Hogan! No one needs another Hulk Hogan movie!
Posted By: ddn2003 (Guest) on January 27, 2012 at 06:03 PM
I could believe him about the role of Little John; seems like something he could've done, and something Mel Brooks would've offered him.
But, as for the rest. . . yeah, I don't think do. Before Mickey Rourke, Nic Cage was cast in the lead so they were obviously looking for a different type of lead than the muscled wrestler.

Shut the goddamned hell up you retarded orange motherfucker. Your butt buddy James Jennings will stop sucking your shriveled nutsack if you keep up this stupid bullshit.

This shows how stupid tna is when they put their trust in this delusional old man.
Posted By: elvylanda (guest) (Guest) on January 27, 2012 at 06:08 PM
I WONDER WHAT KIND OF DRUGS THEY USE ON TNA..HE'S PROBABLY ON SOMETHING
Posted By: CENAHATER-1 (Guest) on January 27, 2012 at 06:12 PM
So...Metallica, Robin Hood, The Wrestler. What next? Saving the amazon by physically picking up each tree?
Posted By: LitasRevenge (Guest) on January 27, 2012 at 06:25 PM
You know, the role of Little John in Men in Tights would've actually been an ok fit for him. Little John didn't have many lines, nor did it really require an Oscar caliber actor. I don't believe he was, but he wouldn't have been bad in the role.
Posted By: Doc (Guest) on January 27, 2012 at 06:30 PM
once again proving Hulk Hogan is an idiot
Posted By: josh (Guest) on January 27, 2012 at 06:35 PM
Seriously, it is time to get this man checked by a doctor. These could be signs of a bigger issue. This comment is not meant to be funny or mean. He may actually need help.
Posted By: Guest#9479 (Guest) on January 27, 2012 at 06:35 PM
I know Hulk is a bullshiter (bullshitter?) but I remember reading somewhere around the time this movie came out that Hulk was offered the role. So this may not be entirely false.
Posted By: Guest#8255 (Guest) on January 27, 2012 at 06:43 PM
no, enough BS hogan.
Posted By: Guest#7285 (Guest) on January 27, 2012 at 06:46 PM
What an utter quadrospaz.
Posted By: Guest#5407 (Guest) on January 27, 2012 at 06:49 PM
"...and that of Little John in Robin Hood: Men in Tights."
Now this I can believe.
Posted By: PaulOrndorff (Guest) on January 27, 2012 at 06:50 PM
Hogan & Bischoff were also on Noahs Ark as the first 2 Jackasses. Yea that's the ticket.
Posted By: Jon Lovitz (Guest) on January 27, 2012 at 06:50 PM
Too much acid hulkster.
Posted By: White Rabbitt (Guest) on January 27, 2012 at 06:51 PM
I believe the Men in Tights one because the actor does look like a poor man's Hogan. The other two are complete bs.
Posted By: Habba Babba (Guest) on January 27, 2012 at 06:51 PM
God damn this is good stuff
Posted By: Adrian (Guest) on January 27, 2012 at 06:52 PM
Little known fact: Hulk Hogan turned down the role of Mr. Belvieere.
Posted By: SPOTtheOX (Guest) on January 27, 2012 at 07:02 PM
Hogan would have been fitting for Highlander on a couple of levels.
1. Like the Highlander, you can't get rid of Hogan short of beheading him. He just keeps coming back...and back...and back.
2. "There can only be one" pretty much describes Hogan's booking philosophy, as long as the "one" is him.
Posted By: Michael L (Guest) on January 27, 2012 at 07:14 PM
So, he turns down any role that might but good, but does Santa with Muscles?
Posted By: Fred (Guest) on January 27, 2012 at 07:22 PM
He's working you, brother!
Posted By: Hogan Rules (Guest) on January 27, 2012 at 07:32 PM
for crying out loud Jeremy take your hogan hating ass and take a hike!
Posted By: giulio (Guest) on January 27, 2012 at 07:35 PM
And precisely how would Hogan have done Randy The Ram's trademark finisher off the top rope? Everyone knows Hogan never leaves his feet...
Posted By: Smacks (Guest) on January 27, 2012 at 07:37 PM
I want to believe you are joking about Highlander and Robin Hood, but this is Hulk Hogan, so I can't be too sure.
Posted By: Travis (Guest) on January 27, 2012 at 07:37 PM
This idiot has lost his mind today...unreal
Posted By: Guest#5128 (Guest) on January 27, 2012 at 07:41 PM
I don't see why any of this can't be true or why you have to label it as being part of the crazy train.
Posted By: Grookie (Guest) on January 27, 2012 at 07:45 PM
I believe I have read somewhere before that Hogan was considered for the part but I doubt he was ever seriously offered the part. I also highly doubt he was considered for Highlander, at least for the lead role. Maybe they wanted him to be in the wrestling match at the beginning. Little John seems more plausible.
Posted By: Josh (Guest) on January 27, 2012 at 07:48 PM
So Hulk is still telling anyone that will listen to him that not only was he offered that role in the movie "The Wrestler." But Hulk also keeps telling people that the movie is about him.
You know Hulk. If you keep telling these lies. One day somebody might belive that and it will be the truth.
Give it up Hulk and just say it was a good movie. And you wish that director offered the role to you. Oh but the director has said many times that he never talked to you.
Posted By: Saul Goodman (Guest) on January 27, 2012 at 07:48 PM
"No credibility, Hulk Hogan isn't a good wrestler", whatever Hollywood thinks of me.
Fixed it for you, brother.
Posted By: Hulk Hogan's Brother (Guest) on January 27, 2012 at 07:52 PM
Is he starved for attention or what? This is pathetic
Posted By: Bill (Guest) on January 27, 2012 at 07:56 PM
Whats next Hulk? Was you offered the chance to become the next James Bond but declined? Was you offered the chance to play Luke Skywalker or Han Solo but declined?
Posted By: Guest 5150 (Guest) on January 27, 2012 at 07:57 PM
Considering they wanted Rourke, then the studio made them pick Nic Cage before he bowed out so Rourke could have the part, I highly doubt they'd go for Hogan.
Posted By: Ace Jones (Guest) on January 27, 2012 at 08:10 PM
He's obviously on the same stuff as Chael Sonnen. They have the same twisted worldview.
Posted By: Tommy (Guest) on January 27, 2012 at 08:10 PM
Wow Hogan really ?????
Posted By: Wow (sarcasm) (Guest) on January 27, 2012 at 08:27 PM
"whatever Hollywood thinks of me"
I'll help you out there grandpa. Hollywood doesn't, they don't, and haven't since your attempts at movies in the early '90s bombed.
Posted By: Guest#9114 (Guest) on January 27, 2012 at 08:35 PM
The only offer he got was Men in Tights. That film was stupid and painfully unfunny, and I can see why they thought Hogan was right for it.
Posted By: Guest#2761 (Guest) on January 27, 2012 at 08:39 PM
Seriously? Hogan wants people to believe that he did what was good for a business?
Posted By: Guest#9588 (Guest) on January 27, 2012 at 08:40 PM
Hes getting more delusional than Iron Sheik and Warrior lol
Posted By: APrince66 (Guest) on January 27, 2012 at 08:58 PM
I am glad Hogan has such high standards that he turned such movies but decided to do Mr. Nanny.
Posted By: Rich (Guest) on January 27, 2012 at 09:03 PM
Not that I beLIEve him.....BUT, IF any of those role were offerd to him, Im pretty sure it was his WWF/WCW contracts that prevented him from being able to take those roles.
Posted By: fatmark (Guest) on January 27, 2012 at 09:05 PM
It's still real to him.....
Posted By: Guest#1745 (Guest) on January 27, 2012 at 09:11 PM
I'm starting to think Hogan has tiger blood too.
Posted By: Guest#4495 (Guest) on January 27, 2012 at 09:13 PM
Can this idiot just die alrady?
Posted By: Drew Pickle (Guest) on January 27, 2012 at 09:18 PM
As usual, there's a small grain of truth to all of Hogan's lies. They maybe offered him a small part with a bad payoff so he said no. Cant imagine how absurd The Wrestler would have been if Hogan was the star.
Posted By: Guest#2365 (Guest) on January 27, 2012 at 09:20 PM
Hogan went on to say he also turned "Gone With The Wind" and is next up to be King of England.
Posted By: Real Man (Guest) on January 27, 2012 at 09:26 PM
Hogan also claimed that Mickey Rourke auditioned for the lead in Santa with Muscles but Rourke's acting skills weren't up to par.

They offered him the lead role after I turned it down.
Posted By: Paul Roma (Guest) on January 27, 2012 at 09:43 PM
- Hogan also claims he was offered the job of leading the Israelites out of Egypt, but turned down the role. "When that role was offered to me, I didn't think my people would worship an unseen God with me around, so He gave the role to Moses and look what it did for his career!"
Posted By: Guest#1070 (Guest) on January 27, 2012 at 09:53 PM
And yet he signed on for Mr. Nanny and Thunder in Paradise
sure

Glad I got on a pair of knee high boots cuz wading through Hulk's BS is comical!! Hulk also turned down American Idol.The Bachelor.Iron Chef.Who Wants To Be Millionaire.Americas Next Top Model.The View.Judge Judy.The Academy Awards.Mitt Rommeys VP.North Koreas new leader.The new Jared from Subway!! (;
Posted By: 5526 (Guest) on January 27, 2012 at 09:56 PM
I was expecting him to say how he would of not only gotten the Oscar nomination, he would of won it, brother. Surprising lack of delusion and/or lies for the Hulkster.
MICKEY ROUKE WAS READY, BROTHERJACKDUDE!
Posted By: Sgt. Silly Nips (Guest) on January 27, 2012 at 09:56 PM
I would believe his claim about Robin Hood: Men in Tights...if it wasn't accompanied by the Wrestler and Highlander claims. The utter ridiculousness of the latter two discredits the otherwise believability of the Little John story.
Posted By: Hal Jordan (Guest) on January 27, 2012 at 10:07 PM
"I believe the Men in Tights one because the actor does look like a poor man's Hogan."
The same actor also played a goofy Thor in an 80s Hulk TV movie and plays the goofy dad on a Disney Channel sitcom. I could see Hogan playing either of those roles also.
Also Thor sort of jobbed out the Hulk in that movie(in the sense that Thor had more screentime). Sounds like Hogan.
Posted By: Hal Jordan (Guest) on January 27, 2012 at 10:13 PM
I was also offered AMERICAN IDOL.THE BACHELOR.THE 4TH MEMBER OF DESTINY'S CHILD.THE #1 PICK IN THE NFL DRAFT.AMERICAS NEXT TOP MODEL.IRON CHEF.
Posted By: The Hulkster (Guest) on January 27, 2012 at 10:14 PM
yeah, l believe hogan turned down the role, after all it was about a washed up has-been loser who stays in the ring way past his prime. it would have been too close to real life for hogan
Posted By: sam (Guest) on January 27, 2012 at 10:14 PM
Yeah, I've heard this before too, back around the time The Wrestler came out. Don't believe it for a second. And it would make me sad if Springsteen's incredible song "The Wrestler" was attached to something starring Hulk Hogan!
We all know Hogan is full of shit on every level. Hes claimed he created the "Macho Man" persona for Randy Savage and pretty much taught Vince McMahon about how to run the WWF. He probably thinks he taught us all how to love and live again, and about the true meaning of Christmas.
Hogan in Highlander? Wow...Sean Connery's character probably turned heel on him and sold out to bitter rival Kurgan!
Posted By: Earl (Guest) on January 27, 2012 at 10:22 PM
This near 60 year old fart needs mental help. Oh wait. He works in TNA and everybody from the people running the company (not all of the wrestlers) to their jolly group of fanboys are delusional assholes.
Posted By: Guest#6909 (Guest) on January 27, 2012 at 10:24 PM
THIS JUST IN!!! It has now been reported that Hulk Hogan actually turned down the lead roles in both Titanic and Armageddon. Boy, does this guy know when to say no or what?

Jesus, Hogan, SHUT...UP.
Posted By: Guest#7811 (Guest) on January 27, 2012 at 10:42 PM
All you smarks are so comical in your ignorance. You all have no idea that there are wrestlers who can take a bump to no heat like Edge or Daniel Bryan, while real men like Hogan DRAW MONEY. Criticize him all you want, but the truth is he owns all of you.
Posted By: Ed L. (Guest) on January 27, 2012 at 10:42 PM
hate to bust yalls bubble, but i read in entertainment weekly AND usa today that he was offered the role, so u all are looking pretty stupid

no. dont care.
Posted By: Guest#1500 (Guest) on January 27, 2012 at 11:33 PM
Obviously the role would of ruined Hogan's creditability as an actor! Props to the Hulkster for stepping aside, doing the job and putting Mickey over big! Hogan recognized what this role would do for a guy like Mickey's career and kindly declined the role!

Other roles turned down by hulk hogan:
-Neo in the matrix
-James bond in casino royale
-Margaret Thatcher in the iron lady

-muhammed Ali in ali

I guess Jeff Hardy still to be drug diller - look how after his return Angle and Hogan both goes crazy. This was the reason TNA didn't fire Hardy, they need more drugs and Jeff know how to get them.
Posted By: ermacermac (Guest) on January 28, 2012 at 03:27 AM
Hogan was also offered the role of Magnum P.I., but chose wrestling instead.

I would need to hear this directly from Darren's mouth, for me to give it any credence.

So Hogan was almost in Metallica and now he says he almost was in The Wrestler. What's next? Hogan's gonna pull a Mark Whalberg and say he was meant to be on a plane heading for New York on 9/11 and he would've unleashed Hulkamania on the hijackers?
