Wrestlers Comment on CM Punk vs. Daniel Bryan Match from WWE Raw
Posted by Chad Webb on 01.31.2012
Bret Hart, JR, and others tweet about it...
- Many wrestlers and others from the business have praised last night's match between CM Punk and Daniel Bryan on Raw. Below are a few of the posts from Twitter:
Joey Styles: "OK. I'll admit it. I would come out of retirement to call @CMPunk vs. @WWEDanielBryan. #BestInTheWorld"
Jim Ross: "Punk vs Bryan is a broadcaster's dream. They're making great music. Amazing match." "What I would have given to call that one. Had to stand ti watch it"
Bret Hart: "Kudos to both @CMPunk and @WWEDanielBryan. Good match"
William Regal: "Hello from lovely Omaha Nebraska. Very proud of @CMPunk and @WWEDanielBryan. Good lads.I hope my twins marry such lovely fellas."
Lance Storm: "@CMPunk and @WWEDanielBryan Thank you for giving me some great wrestling on my Sports Entertainment show."
No love for the damn near as good Ziggler vs. Orton match?

This is a good thing. I mean the match itself was a good thing to begin with, but having other wrestlers (and upper-echelon "legends" at that) tell the world about it is an even better thing.

It was good from a technical standpoint but shit seemed boring still cuz Danielson is a boring ass midget.

Bret said it best. Good match. Lets not go crazy and start calling it 'epic' or 'amazing'. People did that with Taker v HHH last year but as soon as you stop marking out and watch it fresh its simply a good match that could have been a lot better.

They're all correct, it was an awesome match

nice.

would LOVE to see what they can do given 30 minutes on a PPV. These two can honestly work wrestlemania. This would actually be the perfect foil for Cena vs Rock. A sports entertainment classic along with a pure wrestling classic. The best of both worlds.
This was just an amazing mark out moment of a match though. Our indie darlings whom we've followed and supported in all those dingy bingo halls for so many years, coming together and kicking ass against each other as WORLD CHAMPIONS. That's big boys, big.

Regal should get his own show.

Punk is still a piece of dogshit.

Didn't watch it, because Raw sucks.

It is a shame that Cole called this match and not JR or Styles.

As good as that match was (I gave it ****), I'm surprised no one is giving some props to Ziggler and Orton as well. Another fantastic match overshadowed by one just a wee bit better. Positive thing, though, it doesn't feel like anyone doesn't want to upstage anyone. You get the feeling on some shows that happens.

Nice of the broadcasters to diplomatically omit "and I would have actually talked about the match, maybe named a move or two, and actually emphasised the story and quality of the match, unlike those that actually did call it and did it a massive disservice."
But I suppose that 140 character limit leads to these kinds of omissions.

K thanks moron. Let's see you put on a helluva match like that. Oh wait, your a basement dwelling treasure troll. You are like Spencer is to Edge. Try saying that to Cm Punk in real life, thought so!

Woulda been nice if Jericho's crap didn't ruin it.

Thats what happens when you put the 2 top in-ring performers in North America against each other and just let them wrestle, I been saying since 2003 that Punk & Danielson are the next generation Jericho & Benoit from a pure talent standpoint except Danielson can cut a better promo than Benoit could.

Yes, Orton and Ziggler had a good to great match, but the Punk/Bryan match was phenomenal. It's just a shame about the ending. I would love to see these two guys go at it in an ironman match.
No, in regards to this crap:
"It was good from a technical standpoint but shit seemed boring still cuz Danielson is a boring ass midget."
Posted By: MacDOllarz. (Guest) on January 31, 2012 at 11:03 PM
Say what you want about Danielson, the guy is the best wrestler in the world. CM Punk is a close second. You may as well get used to Daniel Bryan, he's not going anywhere for a while. You don't like it? Then go watch the Teletubbies with your parents like you normally do.

So you like the big guys, huh? Good for you lady.

It was one of the greatest matches ever in the history of Monday Night Raw.

For a throwaway match booked one hour earlier, it was a great match. Had that been built up as a big deal on PPV, I'd be inclined to agree with you

William Regal wants CM Punk and Daniel Bryant to marry his conjoined twins?

Posted By: Guest#8505 (Guest) on January 31, 2012 at 11:49 PM
exactly..this is why i changed it before the commercial break, as king and cole were discussing the kane/cena feud for most of the match and it was getting on my nerves... (that plus sarah jones is much more interesting)

And I think that was the point, it was a match on free TV. Give those two ten more minutes on pay per view and I guarantee you will see an "epic" and "amazing" match.

Joey Styles coming out of retirement!? I thought he called pulled off the shows for spazzing out too much.
Punk v Bryan was excellent by the way. I haven't followed their ROH careers at all, but I was excited to see them because they actually know how to tell a story through wrestling and not promos, fireballs, embracing hatred nonsense etc...
Guys like Ziggler, Barrett and Miz are all good to great in-ring workers, but a lot of their matches seem to focus on the same spots. They really need to watch this match and see how workers can make a match original through constant fluidity of Wrestling. It's how things were done when the likes of Benoit, Edge, Angle, Guerrero wrestled each other week in, week out.

It was a Raw match booked on the same show it aired. We're not talking a PPV here. Expectations are different and they smashed through em Monday night.

Just wondering, are Regal's twins girls?
Posted By: Comment Board Poster (Guest) on February 01, 2012 at 09:52 AM
By no means am I trolling here, I love Punk and Bryan, but this match wasn't that amazing. I read some stuff about it being a MOTYC and just busted out laughing. Lets not get ahead of ourselves people, it was a good match and it happened in January.
Posted By: Alittlemuch (Guest) on February 01, 2012 at 10:07 AM
I wasn't booked.
Posted By: Dennis Stamp (Guest) on February 01, 2012 at 10:53 AM
This goes to show you how fucking awful wrestling has become. This match was ok at best. Everyone claims it's amazing.
Posted By: Guest#2832 (Guest) on February 01, 2012 at 11:25 AM
"Best in the world" should become a stable, led by Chris Jericho, and feature young brash superstars, tired of living in the shadow of guys like Taker, HHH, Cena and Rock.
Posted By: Yup (Guest) on February 01, 2012 at 12:29 PM
Live it was amazing, and i didn't have to hear Cole and Lawler not talk about it. BUT, watch Superstars this week for a flat out AMAZing match between Swagger and Truth. They put on a hell of a show and in the words of my friend, "too bad no one will see it because it's on superstars."
Posted By: Thechosencowboy (Guest) on February 01, 2012 at 12:43 PM
It made me wanna see a program between thyem at Wrestlemania. Say what you will about their indy roots but these two can captivate a crowd. First time in a long time I've seen hurricanranas, Frankensteiners, and German suplexes in a RAW match...
