Samoa Joe Says TNA Needs to Get Out of the Impact Zone
Posted by Larry Csonka on 02.10.2012
Do you agree?
- During a recent appearance on Wrestling Voice Radio, Samoa Joe spoke about TNA moving out of the Impact Zone in Orlando. Joe stated that it was of "dire importance" that the promotion move out if they wants to see "the product, as well as the fan base, continue to grow." He continued on with his point, stating the following…
"The crowd very much powers the performance in the ring and - it's almost subconscious - when you are out there in front of thousands of screaming fans, it amps up your game a little bit, whether you like it or not, it puts you on point, it puts you on focus and makes you want to go out there and put something on fantastically."
This is like the 20th TNA guy to say that they need to get out of the IZ. I guess just like its fans, TNA ignores their own employees too.
Well, its either this or Hogan being all "WELL YA KNOW SOMETHING DIXIE BROTHERDUDE THE OTHER ARENAS IN AMERICA AREN'T READY BROTHERJACKDUDEBROTHERBROTHER" and Dixie being all "You tell 'em Terry!"

That's a smart man right there. This should be the year that they get out of the Impact Zone. Even if it's on a semi-regular basis.

I'm sure what they pay hogan can be put towards production for events going outside of the impact zone. Even the 1000 they draw at a house show on tv would be better than the tourists. Also maybe more than a 1000 show up if its well hyped as being a tv taping.

Samoa Joe needs to get out of the impact zone. When he started with TNA, everyone spoke of his great matches in the indies. I try watching this guy but I don't see it. Especially when he was pulling knives on people in the ring. That is just wrong.

I wish it was that simple for TNA to go on the road but you look at how that company is set up and it just doesn't seem like they will. Yeah some of the older wrestlers wouldn't want to but the bigger problem is the behind the scenes crew. WWE has one of the best crews when it comes to setting up/filming/releasing their product. TNA has yet to prove they can consistently run a live show let alone go out on the road and do it. If Joe wants to go on the road at this point he should do it with another company.

agree!!!

I have said for over 5 years that as long as their main facility is the former home of WCW Saturday Night (along with Disney's MGM Studios) they will never be more that a cheap Saturday filler production. If that is their version of Nitro, then they are in sad shape.

So, fans want the move, wrestlers need it, what the problem then?

Of course TNA won't listen to him

Samoa Joe's new gimmick should be called Flabalanche!

Totally agree. The crowd and atmosphere for the England shows were electric, and it made TNA seem less bush league.

Articulate, a ring-master, AND a gentleman? SAMOA JOE!

The TNA shows in the UK were great and made RAW look absolutely second-rate by comparison..., and the crowd had a lot to do with it..Definitely couldnt produce that kind of excitement inside the Impact Zone

Totally agree with Joe. If TNA would leave the Impact Zone they could get more exposure, better crowds, and the wrestlers would probably try harder. In short, it could make TNA a completely better product.

Instead of worrying about stuff like this Joe should be concerned about getting his ass in the gym. The man has gotten soft, lazy and way out of shape. WWE made the right move signing Punk and not him. Both guys have been frustrated by how they've been booked at times and look at how they responded. Punk worked his ass off to get better and truly earn the Best in the World moniker. Joe stopped trying, gained 50 pounds, and puts on terrible matches by his standards. You can't build a company around a guy like that.

Don't they already go to county fairs and school carnivals and pre-school graduations?

He couldn't possibly be more right. EVERY episode of Impact I've seen from somewhere outside of the Zone has been better than any episode I've seen inside of it. It's the single best thing they can do to stop looking second rate.

it was nice seeing Impact the last couple of weeks with the big england crowd but it still came across on TV second rate. The ring looked very tiny. The first week I caught it(uk tapings) I caught it in the middle of the show with the Morgan/Crimson vs Joe/Magnus match where it was 2-1 in the ring and since I caught the middle of the match I had no clue what was going on. The match was mind boggling until the end when they mentioned again why the match was the way it was.

Yes, Yes, and Yes. It was great watching Impact with people actually in the audience caring about the matches going on. Say NO, to the Impact Zone.

Totally agree with Joe.
Maybe TNA could cut down on costs by starting out taping shows at arenas around the Southeast at first and then, after a few months, expand out of there. Do a few tours around Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee and the Southeast, then move into the Carolinas.

Yeah, no. That's so old that it's not even remotely funny or clever anymore. But I shouldn't have expected anything more from you.

A company grows by responding to changes needed. TNA has made superficial changes and ignored all of the ones they need to make. Taking the tapings on the road is necessary. Paying your talent is necessary. Revolving a show around Eric Bischoff & his son is not.
