Report of The Rock on Live With Kelly
Posted by Larry Csonka on 02.10.2012

Credit Mike Johnson and Pwinsider.com

Dwayne Johnson appeared on ABC's Live with Kelly Rippa and guest host Jerry O'Connell this morning to promoter Journey 2 The Mysterious Island.
Rippa joked that she's never seen a man who both men and women are both in love with. Johnson thanked her and said it's a gift.

Rippa asked about his workout regimen. He said that he works out five days a week and when he's on set, he gets up early, sends out a morning Tweet, has breakfast and works out before he goes to shoot. O'Connell told a story about being at the same supermarket deli counter as Johnson in California waiting for two pounds of macaroni salad and being completely embarassed when Johnson's two pounds of lean turkey meat came.

Johnson said that he loves working out as a way to launch his day, whether its yoga or weightliting. He said that it allows you to anchor your day and for him, he prefers to move "iron." Rippa asked if that started during his football days. Rippa flirted with him about "moving his iron" and Johnson quipped that there were many definitions. Rippa got Johnson to show off his tribal tattoo and O'Connell mocked her by gushing and asking for Johnson to show them more.

After a commercial, they showed Johnson bouncing his pecs in the new film, then played it back in slow motion for laughs.

Johnson said that they wanted to move an epic adventure movie that families could enjoy. He said he's spent the last few films playing darker roles hunting bad men down and he wanted to do something big if he was going to go back to the family genre. He said that they were the first film to use James Cameron's Avatar 3D cameras. They shot the film in Hawaii where they filmed Jurassic Park.

Johnson said that he grew up in Hawaii and it represents struggle to him because his family was often living paycheck to paycheck, so to go back there was very emotional.

They showed a clip of Johnson punching a giant lizard and it not working out too well for him from the film.

No mentions of WWE or Wrestlemania, but your usual smooth appearance from Johnson.

Yeah. You go on Regis and Kelly, Rock. Just leave it to me to actually you know.. wrestle. You go make that big budget, box office movie Rock. I'll be right here yo! You don't even appear on WWE TV every week like I do. Yeah. You go on Jay Leno and hang around with Brad Pitt. So not jealous. Hustle. Loyalty. Respect. Mediocrity.

NO REGIS? no buys.

regis would have got the rock to talk about WWE.

Yeah it is pretty irresponsible of the Rock, you know he's involved in a pretty major event in 50 something days, the least he could do is mention it on a huge talk show.

Just goes to show, he's manufacting all this love for the business....I don't think he misses it or cares for it or even watches the product. He's just another guy who was lucky enough to get out, which is fine, but acting as if hes back and he's an actual wrestler while his stupid fucking idiot fans actually think hes back and buying on his bullshit. While poor Cena gets hate for what? oh yea for sticking to the product, for working (with his flaws and all the hate) every single day, doing appearances, living and breathing the businness. Cena better win....its the right message. It's not just another personal promotion for cena, its not a paycheck, or another appearance for him, it's another day at work.

So fuck the rock, and his fans and the cena haters....everyone knows rocky trailed off on Austin who was more taleneted and did more for the buisiness than the actor ever could imagine, and in the future Cena will be seen in a much more favourable light than rocky ever will...that's a fact.

And im not even a cena fan, im a CM punk mark all the way, cena pretty much stands for what i hate about the business, but the rock stands for soemthing i hate in general. Cash-in hypocrites. And they blamed the MIZ for survivor series...lol

the rock is not a hypocrite. he is an actor and a businessman and then he is an entertainer.

wwe is lucky that he is even willing to return for a big match. wwe and the rocl only want the money from the pro wrestling fans.

cena is the face of wwe and will win this match and rock won't care because he will get his MILLION dollar pay check from the match, ppv buys etc.

rock knows this is entertainment even though gullible, stupid iwc fans think wrestling is "real".

The Rock is a fool for leaving WWE and their kickass schedule and myriad benefits.

You buried the lead. The event is 50 DAYS AWAY. No one except for the WWE hype machine pimps stuff that is 50 days away. Heck, Vince himself on Byte This said it was irresponsible to pimp something that far away when there's another PPV ahead of it.

When it comes time for 'Mania Rock will make the rounds for that. His movie is now. His match isn't for two months.

The only thing irresponsible is fans misrepresenting the situation for the sole purpose of taking pot shots at the guy.

No mention of Wrestlemania at all? Don't defend him on here either people cos we are all wrestling fans and not one of us is going to watch his shitty movie.

On the other hand, 90% of Live with Kelly audience and most of daytime's audiences are middle aged moms who I doubt would pay $60+ to order a product they're probably not familiar with. So no real gain or harm done without mentioning Mania.

FYI-
This is the only interview this week where he DIDN'T mention Wrestlemania. On Leno, ESPN, twitter, etc., he has spoke at length about Wrestlemania and Cena. As a matter of fact, in those circumstances, he spoke MORE about Wrestlemania 28 in Miami than his new movie...so get info first before you come in here spewing your garbage. Let that man live, he owes you NOTHING

What if they are moms of kids who like WWE?

Or middle-aged moms who were fans during the Attitude Era and remember The Rock from that?

Not bashing the guy, I actually agree with Ron Mexico and think it is kind of pointless to promote WrestleMania ahead of Elimination Chamber. Just calling a spade a spade.
