More On TNA's Creative Team Shake-Up: Russo Appears to be Out
Posted by Ashish on 02.12.2012
Eric Bischoff gaining more power...
PWTorch has new details on the TNA creative team shake-up:
* Eric Bischoff would have been part of the decision to get Vince Russo out of power within the TNA creative team. The feeling backstage right now is that Russo is out and that he won't be retained in any capacity with TNA.
* Russo's exit would likely result in Bischoff having more power. Bischoff has consistently disagreed with Russo on TNA's booking and story lines.
* As of now, Bruce Prichard is still head of TNA's creative team. Wherever Dave Lagana ends up, it'll be below Prichard and Bischoff.
* At this point, it seems as if Lagana's role won't really be expanding. He is only working on pre-taped segments on the PPV tonight. Lagana has downplayed his role, another sign that he hasn't been promoted.

If this somehow gets the belt on Hogan, then I am all for it.

If this somehow leads to Monty Brown returning, then I am all for it.

Tell me, why do you still insist that Hogan as the champ would be a good idea? It better be a good reason

Bischoff coming into more power might not be the greatest scenario imaginable, but he is definitely an upgrade from Russo.

If Johnny Fairplay doesn't get another contract after this, we riot.

Doesn't matter, iwc still will be blaming Russo for any and all booking whether it's his idea or not.
And didn't Bischoff already make AWA suck then fold, then made WCW start sucking then fold, then helped make WWE start sucking, now TNA has stopped making any progress? Seems to be a pattern somewhere.

Russo is good as long as there's somebody with a good head on their shoulders to filter out the crap. Russo's booking leading up to AJ Styles becoming TNA champion just before Hogan and Bischoff took over was good booking.

If Bischoff stays behind the scenes, and can resist the temptation to sleep in front of Titan Towers waiting for just released wrestlers to come out, I have no issues with this. I recently read his book, and while some of it was suspect, he showed a genuine love for the business. And, can they really do worse than someone who has worked in AWA, WCW, WWE and MatRats, which while never succeeding, introduced a plethora of guys who had talent, but not name value. He has been around some legendary minds of the industry, and can't really do worse for the company.
And for the gentleman who is drooling for the day Hogan gets the title, I prefer my Champions being able to run the ropes, not limp them. Not slagging Hogan, but his hip problems make him a liability in the ring.

If this somehow gets me a job, then I am all for it.

It's been well-documented that he had no say in WWE creative....he was strictly on-air talent......he only had some say in AWA long after it was beyond recovery, and their biggest option left was DJ Peterson for the future....and WCW was partially his fault, yes, but it didn't shut down till after he had been removed the second time, which was abysmal because he and Russo had to work together, but he had no control over what Russo wrote, and history has shown a loose Russo is dangerous.
He may not be on the level of Vince M. in his heyday, but he's not the Galacticus of wrestling that people have made him out to be. 50 points to the person who gets that reference.

Frankly and IMHO, as long as Bischoff, Hogan, and Pritchard remain, the growth of TNA will be stagant at best. I believe that for TNA to grow, it's going to have to take risks in creative with new, hungry people in those positions.
