Posted by Larry Csonka on 02.20.2012

- Heading into the PPV there was some debate over whether or not CM Punk would be retaining the WWE Title at the PPV last night. Word is that the decision was made over the weekend for Punk to retain heading into WrestleMania.

i thought it would have made more sense for jericho to win in the way punk did, a slightly contraversial way of eliminating punk with y2j winning and the rematch at mania. they need to build this feud a little bit better starting tonite to make people care more about it. feels flat at the moment.

I would have liked to see Punk drop the title to Jericho at the Elimination Chamber and then win it back at Wrestlemania, but obviously that didn't happen.

The decision was made when Orton sustained a concussion.

I doubt they are going to give jericho a win at WM defeating 2nd most over face on raw. but I really doubt they are going to give punk a clean fall victory if they want a rematch at extreme rules without hurting jerichos character credibility. which means, the match quality itself is going to be high standard but the finish and the build up will suck considering they are having a match between two of the greatest in ring performers in this industry.

Disagree.

Having Jericho steal the title is simple, obvious booking. It may be solid but it's ununique. What they did last night was untraditional so I dug it.

As far the feud itself goes, I'm interesting. Mind you, two great wrestlers hooking up sells itself but the guys involved have been doing a good job anyway.

Betweem this and the Royal Rumble, I get the sense that they are burying Jericho. I can't see Punk dropping clean to him at WM and the World Title is definitely changing (as they bury the cowardly heel Bryan with Sheamus).

Then again, the expected move here would have been to put the title on Jericho and have Punk win it back at WM. So perhaps they are going with the unexpected, which is good. Time will tell.

So we have the following:

Jericho-Punk (Punk retains clean in a great match)
Cryan-Sheamus (Sheamus wins)
Cena-Rock (I think Rock does the job and makes nice at the end)
HHH-Taker (HHH wins, Taker retires)

What does that leave?

MITB?
Orton-Barret?
Ziggler? I think he wins the title in the next 12 months.
Ryder? Maybe a shot for the US title?

What are you talking about? Jericho can now claim he wasn't actually defeated at the elim chamber now can argue for his shot at wrestlemania....

Dolph Ziggler vs. Mick Foley

Big Show vs. Shaq

No MitB

Why would that talentless zombie figure into the equation? He isn't fit to carry Jericho or Punk's boots.

Orton will be added to World title match when he returns. The WWE "blamed" Bryan for the concussion.

You should be in the WWE booking team. You will fit right in with those idiots.

They didn't want to make it too predictable. the last time jericho was in the EC, he won the world title for his feud with edge just in time for WM.
If they did that again here, although it's convenient and would make sense, it's too predictable.
