Our Lady Peace Retires ‘Whatever’ Due to the Benoit Family Tragedy
Posted by Larry Csonka on 04.14.2012

- Jon Chattman of The Huffington Post has an interview up with the band Our Lady Peace. In the interview, the group discusses the fact that they have retired the song "Whatever," due to the Benoit family tragedy that happened five years ago.

In June of 2007, Chris Benoit killed his wife Nancy and strangled his seven-year-old son Daniel before committing suicide. The song was Benoit's theme music in WWE.

Guitarist Steve Mazur commented on the decision, stating the following…

"I couldn't imagine singing that to be honest, it's so tied into him and the tragedy that happened, I just couldn't get it out of my head."

Frontman Raine Maida confirmed that the song has been retired from the band's catalogue.
