WWE Network Plans Indefinitely Put on Hold?
– Plans for the WWE Network have reportedly been put on hold. According to sources within the company, the network have put an indefinite hold on the plans as they have not yet gotten a deal signed with cable providers and internal studies have shown that less than 100,000 homes would be willing to pay a monthly fee for a premium cable channel a la HBO.
Sources close to the HR department and the VP of programming have also revealed that all hiring for the network is frozen and new hires for it may be terminated. At this point the network is unlikely to go forward at all and that the company failed to realize what kind of an investment it would be. NBC Universal was willing to sell part of its Universal HD channel, but the company balked and wanted a whole network to itself. At this point, it is said that a network would be “virtually impossible” to set up in the next six months to a year.
