December 24, 2012 | Posted by Jeremy Thomas

UPDATE x2: TNA’s Director of Talent Bookings and Travel, Bob Ryder, has confirmed the online report of special TNA tapings. He posted the following on Twitter…

“Not much talk about it online yet, but TNA is taping original specialty programming on Jan 12, the day before Genesis. More details soon.”

“More info on the programming being taped Jan 12 as part of the Genesis VIP Wknd. One session will feature 7 tag team matches & a gauntlet.”

“The other session being taped on Jan 12 focuses on X Division action and will feature an X-Scape Cage match and an Ultimate X match.”

UPDATE: PWInsider reports that there will be two TNA tapings on January 12th, one to replace the February PPV and another with an unknown purpose. Both tapings will be three hours, with the non X-Divison-centric taping having a tag team theme.

ORIGINAL: TNA will be taping a show of some kind in order to fill the spot vacated by their decision to drop the February PPV. The program will be taped o January 12th, the day before TNA Genesis. There is no word on where it will tape; at this point, Universal Studios in Orlando does not list any kind of TNA taping for that date.

The plan is to use a lot of X-Division stars, with the show intended to fill the void left by the slot for ther international PPV partners. Included in the current plans are an Ultimate X match, an X Division Escape match and a traditional TNA gauntlet match.
