Kurt Angle Discusses the IOC Dropping Wrestling at Bellator 89
– Kurt Angle made an appearance onscreen at Bellator 89 talking about the International Olympic Committee deciding to drop wrestling from the Olympics in 2020. Angle said, “It’s very frustrating. I can tell you that there a lot of kids out there who want to go to the Olympics. Now it’s been taken away from them.”
The gold medalist added that wrestling has its highest participation since 1980, saying that it is “right behind football” due to the popularity of the Olympics and MMA. He added that the decision affects 200 nations, particularly countries in Europe where their two main sports are wrestling and powerlifting.
