“PREVIOUSLY ON IMPACT WRESTLING” OPEN: Wes Brisco got the boot from The Aces & Eights, E.G.O. continued their attacks on Magnus, Dixie Carter gives Hulk Hogan an ultimatum.

The camera pans the Little Rock crowd as Mike Tenay welcomes the home audience and hypes the upcoming show. AJ Styles makes his way out to open the show proper. Styles says he can appreciate Hulk Hogan trying to smooth things over last week but he’s not here to talk about either him or Dixie Carter; he’s here to talk about Bully Ray. Styles says he knows exactly who Ray is; he’s the man Styles is gonna beat for the World Title en route to getting what he wants. Styles says he doesn’t have a TNA contract and he’s “all-in” for Bound For Glory, hungry to get what he wants after a year of not even seeing the World Title.

Styles’ diatribe is interrupted by Bully Ray, mic in hand, belt around the shoulder, and Brooke Tessmacher by his side. Ray says Dixie must be in Styles’ head because he just said he “hopes” to win the World Title; if he was a true champion and winner he’d know he could win. Ray says Dixie is a gorgeous woman (not as gorgeous as Brooke, obviously), but Styles needs to worry about him on October 20th not her. Ray goes through his list of conquests, including Hogan, Anderson, and Hardy, and asks Styles what he thinks he’s gonna do to him. Ray says he’s the man who beat Styles two years ago in a Last Man Standing match and he’s got nothing he needs. However Styles does have something Ray wants: to take Styles away from the TNA fans. Ray says he’s sick of hearing the crowd chant AJ’s name (the crowd starts chanting AJ’s name), but come October 20th they won’t be chanting it any more.

Styles tells Ray that he’s no different than Dixie Carter; he bleeds them dry and kicks them to the curb like they never existed. Ray thanks Styles and takes it as a compliment, saying they’re both ruthless, millionaires, and somebodies. Ray tells Styles to pray to whatever he god he has. Styles tells Ray that he doesn’t seem to be focused. Ray says he doesn’t have a match but Styles corrects him; Ray has a match with Samoa Joe. Styles tells Ray that “Joe’s gonna kill you” then exits while Ray and Brooke try to comprehend what he just said.

AJ Styles finds Dixie Carter backstage. Carter says Styles only has one final obligation to TNA, meaning Bound For Glory, then brings the Atlas Security guys over. Styles doesn’t give her the satisfaction and leaves on his own accord.

We go to the announce table where Austin Aries has joined Tenay and Taz on commenatary. Kenny King makes his way out for the opening tag team contest as Aries and company talk about the match from last week that left King bloodied and defeated. King’s partner, Chris Sabin, makes his way out next accompanied by his girlfriend Velvet Sky. Their opponents, X-Division Champion Manik and Jeff Hardy, make their way out next to their own entrance themes. Aries calls Manik the “best looking man” in the match and Taz thinks it’s the funniest thing ever (in his defense it was pretty funny).

—–

Match #1: *TNA X-Division Champion* Manik & Jeff Hardy Vs. Chris Sabin [w/ Velvet Sky] & Kenny King

Manik and Sabin are the first men in. Sabin quickly tags out to King instead of dealing with physical confrontation. Manik goes after Sabin and King attacks from behind, stomping him down to the mat and choking him with his boot. King distracts the ref, allowing Sabin to choke Manik as well. Sabin tags in and connects with a right to Manik’s midsection before choking him on the second rope. King tags back in and whips Manik into the ropes, catching him with a back elbow to the midsection. King mocks Hardy, who runs in and distracts the ref from a pinfall attempt (that was…illogical to do). Sabin tags back in but Manik grabs him in a knucklelock and launches off, hitting King with a hurricanrana from the top rope. Sabin falls for the “Manik Wedge” between the ropes, sending himself flying to the outside. Hardy tags in and goes to work, connecting with a second-rope splash for 2.

Manik tags back in and applies an Octopus submission and turns it into a pinfall attempt for 2. Sabin distracts Manik, allowing King to hit a neck snap onto the top rope. King gets in Aries’ face at ringside then rolls in and applies a rear chinlock. Sabin tags in and connects with a dropkick to Manik. Sabin ties Manik up in a Tree of Woe and feigns going for a dropkick, but instead wedges his foot in Manik’s nether regions and climbs to the top to add pressure (shades of Petey Williams). King tags in and continues the assault with a series of right hands. King drops Manik with a right to the jaw and tags out to Sabin. Sabin chokes Manik in the corner and whips him into the opposite side. Manik gets his boot up during a splash attempt and follows-up with a second rope dropkick to the back of the head.

King tags in and prevents the initial tag but Manik fights through both men and Hardy gets the slap. Hardy connects with a flying forearm/elbow to King and takes Sabin down with a mule kick. Hardy drops King with a front-facing suplex and covers but Sabin breaks the count. Hardy ducks a double clothesline attempt and connects with one of his own. Hardy takes the shirt off and sets up for The Twist of Fate on King but Sabin hits him with an enziguri. King turns the Twist of Fate into a bridging suplex for the 1…2…Manik breaks it up. King goes for his finish but Manik escapes and sends him face-first into Sabin. Hardy climbs to the top and connects with the SWANTON for the 1…2…3!

Winners [via Pinfall]: Manik & Jeff Hardy (7:07)

POST-MATCH: Sabin attacks Manik and Hardy from behind. Aries leaves the broadcast table and chases Sabin out of the ring. Aries grabs a mic and challenges Sabin, Hardy, and Manik to a 4-way match at Bound For Glory. The crowd is pumped. Hardy, mic in hand, heads back into the ring and says he has a better idea: an ULTIMATE X MATCH. Hardy’s music hits and Tenay hypes up this match for Bound For Glory so I guess that makes it official.

Hulk Hogan is backstage with Sting. Hogan says in 35 years he didn’t think anyone could be worse power trip-wise than Eric Bischoff but Dixie Carter has proven otherwise. Sting tells Hogan he has his back. A woman comes in and hands Hogan a present from Dixie Carter. Hogan opens the gift: it’s a watch, the same one she gave to Sting last year.

After a clip of E.G.O. attacking Magnus from last week, we go into more footage from last week where Sting meets up with Magnus after the main event. Magnus says he wants E.G.O. and will take on each one of those guys “next week”. Magnus tells Sting not to talk him out of it and Sting backs off.

Christopher Daniels makes his way out for the first part of the gauntlet match. His, and E.G.O.’s, opponent Magnus makes his way out second.

—–

Match 2a [The E.G.O. Gauntlet]: Magnus Vs. Christopher Daniels

Magnus backs Daniels into the corner and takes it right to Daniels with right hands. Daniels fights back with elbows to the back of the neck but runs right into a clothesline. Magnus rattles Daniels’ teeth with a European uppercut then follows up with a flying back elbow for 2. Daniels begs off and asks for a time-out. Daniels attempts a cheap shot kick but Magnus catches it, spins him around, and connects with another clothesline. Daniels dodges a corner splash attempt and jacks Magnus’ neck on the top rope. Daniels rolls back in and takes Magnus down with a clothesline. Daniels connects with a chop then chokes Magnus with his wrist tape after bringing him to the mat with a snap mare. Daniels applies a head scissors over the top rope after slipping during whatever he was going for before, then applies a reverse chinlock in the center of the ring.

Magnus fights out but runs into a boot to the midsection. Magnus blocks the Angel’s Wings with a back bodydrop. Magnus connects with a clothesline followed by a big boot. Daniels flips out a suplex attempt and escapes a waistlock with a back elbow. Magnus, however, regains the advantage with a clothesline then heads to the top. Daniels drags him off by the arm, wrenching it across the top rope. Daniels plants Magnus down and applies an MMA-ish submission until Magnus escapes via rope break. Daniels sets Magnus up and goes for the B.M.E. but lands right into Magnus’ boot. Magnus follows up with a Michinoku Driver and covers for the 1…2…3.

Winner [via Pinfall]: Magnus (3:55)

Frankie Kazarian comes out for the second part of the gauntlet and Magnus attacks him on the ramp, tossing him into the ring to start the match.

—–

Match #2b [The E.G.O. Gauntlet]: Magnus Vs Frankie Kazarian

Kazarian immediately rolls to the outside to catch his breath as we go to commercial.

-Commercial Break-

Kazarian kicks Magnus in the face as we return from commercial. A clip from the break shows Magnus being in control beforehand. Kazarian traps Magnus in a front chancery, who escapes by crotching him on the top turnbuckle. Magnus runs in but Kazarian leapfrogs him and connects with a spinning kick to the, erm, midsection. Kazarian covers but only gets 2. Kazarian works Magnus over in the corner then takes him out with a hip toss. Kazarian connects with some strikes and covers for another 2. Magnus shoves Kazarian off and connects with a series of right hands. Magnus catches Kazarian mid-crossbody attempt, connecting with a slam into a suplex. Magnus heads to the top and drops the elbow for the 1…2…Kazarian gets his foot on the rope. Kazarian shoves Magnus into the corner but runs right into a back elbow. Magnus climbs to the second rope but gets pump-kicked into the sternum for his troubles. Kazarian attempts the Fade to Black but Magnus rolls through and applies the Cloverleaf for the tapout victory after a brief struggle.

Winner [via Submission]: Magnus (7:42)

—–

Match #2c [The E.G.O. Gauntlet]: Magnus Vs. Bobby Roode

Kazarian attacks Magnus from behind, clipping the knee that was injured last week. Kazarian leaves as Roode takes the robe off and heads to the ring. The bell rings and Roode goes right to the knee as we go to commercial.

-Commercial Break-

Roode mockingly kicks at the fallen Magnus as we return to the show. A clip from the action during the break plays, showing Roode slamming it against the ring post. Back live Roode drops his weight across the injured wheel and applies a spinning toehold. Roode drops back to wrench it further. Magnus tries to fight back but Roode brushes it off and connects with a kneelift followed by a running clothesline. Roode chops Magnus in the corner then kicks at the left knee repeatedly. Roode measures Magnus and clips the knee, sending him crashing to the mat. Roode yells at Magnus to get his ass up, then shoves him down and goes for another spinning toehold. Magnus, however, kicks him off this time around sending Roode face-first into the middle turnbuckle.

Magnus gets to his feet but eats another kneelift. Roode gets a running head start and Roode catches him with a Michinoku Driver for the 1…2…kickout. Magnus sweeps the legs and goes for the Cloverleaf, turning Roode over. Roode struggles then beats Magnus’ left knee with his fist, causing the hold to be broken. Magnus heads to the top and Roode meets him on the second rope. Magnus pushes him off but misses the follow-up flying elbow. Roode seizes the opportunity and applies the Crossface. Magnus pulls himself towards the ropes but Roode breaks the hold, pulls him into the center of the ring, and applies an Ankle Lock. Roode grapevines the injured knee and Magnus eventually taps.

Winner [via Submission]: Bobby Roode (9:15)

POST-MATCH: Magnus recovers on the outside, the ringside fans giving him a standing ovation and chanting his name. Magnus grabs a chair and angrily throws it at the ring steps. Magnus tries to calm down as Sting makes his way out. Sting talks to Magnus off-mic and Magnus shakes his head at whatever he had to say. Sting grabs a mic and tells Magnus to go to the back so he can chill and they can talk this one out. Magnus grabs a mic of his own and says no he’s had enough. Magnus pulls himself back into the ring and says that The Main Event Mafia sees something in him, but he doesn’t have what they see. Magnus says when the chance was given to Angle, Joe, and Sting they took but all he can do is get “this” close. Sting tells Magnus not to look at the bad stuff, but Magnus interrupts and says he doesn’t need another pep talk. Magnus says this is a results-driven business and he’s not getting the results. Sting says he was like Magnus at one point and needed one big match to put himself on the mat which he got thanks to Ric Flair. Magnus says he’s seen and studied the match, saying he has studied Sting since he got in the business. Magnus says Flair put Sting on the map but who’s gonna put him on the map? Sting says he’ll do it and the crowd…doesn’t seem all that into it.

Austin Aries meets up with Hulk Hogan and gives him some vitamins, saying a couple of these and some prayers may help him come to the right conclusion. Aries says while they haven’t seen eye to eye all the time he did at one point see something in, and he’s grateful for it. Aries tells Hogan he has a huge decision ahead of him and says he’s seen two Hogans: red and yellow and black and white. Aries says this decision is black and white. Hogan says he gets it and Aries leaves Hogan to have some vitamins.

A video plays highlighting Hulk Hogan’s big moments in TNA as well as her dealings with Dixie Carter, both positive and negative.

The backstage interviewer asks Chris Sabin why he’s not gonna be out to the ring with Velvet Sky during her match tonight. Sabin says she’s the toughest woman in TNA and she’ll be fine. Sabin says he has to get prepared for Hardy, Aries, and Manik and will do so by drinking diet soda and meditating. Man my recapping of Sabin’s awesome heel segments is the worst. Sorry.

Roode freaks out with joy, telling them to “shut the front door” out of shock. Roode says Bad Influence are the best friends he could have and they sing “he’s off the chain, he’s in the Hall of Faaaaame!”.

Brooke Tessmacher makes her way out for the next match, a #1 contenders match for the Knockouts Title at Bound For Glory. Her opponent, Velvet Sky, makes her way out not really in wrestling gear (an Impact shirt and yoga pants). Before the match can start out comes Lei’D Tapa. Tessmacher bails out of the ring and Tapa goes right on the attack. Tapa yells a bunch and drops Sky with a kick to the face. Tapa stomps the fallen Sky and shoves the ref into the corner when he tries to stop it. Tapa picks Sky up and connects with a Samoan Drop. No match, just some yelling!

Hulk Hogan’s Decision

TNA President Dixie Carter makes out to the ring for the show-closing segment. Carter says it’s people like her who understand why people “like you” have no concept whatsoever of business. Carter says she can’t be upset at the fans for that, they don’t know any different and are just reacting. Carter invites Hulk Hogan out so they can take care of some business. The nWo Japan theme plays, and out Hogan comes. Carter asks Hogan if he’s ready to take his career to another level and puts over the watch she gave to him. Carter says the watch is a gesture, a token of what could happen between them. Carter asks Hogan if he’s ready to take a ride on the Dixie train.

Hogan thanks Dixie for the watch and says he’s dreamed of doing the power couple thing in the business, but at the end of the day it’s an amazing offer for somebody else because he quits! Hogan drops the mic and starts walking off. Carter runs after him and tries to stop him, but Hogan refuses to listen. Dixie drops to her knee and grabs Hogan’s leg like a child. Hogan kicks her off and walks away, and Carter says “I didn’t need you anyway!”. And that concludes this episode.
