WWE Announces Airdate For Tribute to the Troops Special

- WWE has announced that their "Tribute to the Troops" holiday special will air on December 28th at 8 PM ET/PT on NBC. The show will be taped from Joint Base Lewis-McChord in Washington, the the largest operational base in the world and the first time that WWE has WWE has partnered with the United States Air Force for its annual holiday celebration
The special will include an appearance by rock group Daughtry and will run one hour. It is the latest in the annual special, which began over a decade ago. Access Hollywood's Michelle Beadle will host the event, which will include special messages from people like Will Ferrell, Bruce Willis, Ryan Seacrest, Christina Applegate and Stephen Colbert. Comedian Jeff Dunham will also perform live for troops and their families.
Washington governor Jay Inslee said in the announcement, "We are very proud to welcome WWE to Washington state, home of WWE greats like Greg ‘The Hammer' Valentine and Daniel Bryan. The men and women in the military, and their families, serve our state and our nation with admirable dedication. I know they are looking forward to Tribute to the Troops, and we are looking forward to saying thanks for all they do."
Vince McMahon added, "Tribute to the Troops is WWE's way of thanking those who have sacrificed so much for our country as well as those who continue to defend our freedom today. We are proud to continue this annual tradition with our partners at Joint Base Lewis-McChord and Governor Inslee."
As part of the celebration, WWE Superstars and Divas will spend the day at Joint Base Lewis-McChord and nearby Naval Base Kitsap to host Be a STAR anti-bullying rallies and reading celebrations as well as making hospital visits. The special will also look at WWE's goodwill visit overseas, with Vince McMahon, Big Show, R-Truth, Eva Marie and Alicia Fox traveling overseas to spread holiday cheer to the men and women in service.
