Fake Razor Ramon Talks About Working The Gimmick, Drug Addiction, More
Posted by Jeremy Thomas on 12.08.2013

- Rick Bognar recently spoke with the Calgary Journal about playing Fake Razor Ramon in 1996 and 1997, his addiction issues and more. Check out the highlights:

On what Vince McMahon told him when he called for contract renewal after the gimmicks went south: "'Rick, please don't call me at this number again.'"

On getting addicted to Oxycontin and Percocet: "I'd try to get to sleep without taking a sleeping pill, and I'd lay there all night just rolling back and forth, aching and breaking into a sweat. After time, it takes two, then it takes three...I look back at it now, and I can't believe I didn't die."

On suffering a neck injury in NJPW in 1998:"I knew something was really, really wrong, but at that time I was taking a bunch of heavy painkillers so I ignored it. I went on my last wrestling tour with a broken neck."

On leaving the industry and going into public speaking:"Letting go of wrestling was the hardest thing I ever had to do in my entire life. If I can overcome something that extreme—losing my dream, my universe—if I can let go of that, then I can teach someone else to do the same."
