Masked Republic Headed to Philadelphia For Live iPPV Next Week

– Masked Republic has announced that they’re holding their first MaskedMania in Philadelphia as a live iPPV next week. The show will take place on April 27th from the City of Brotherly Love and will include some big names in Mexican wrestling.

The press release notes that they’re “looking to change” the fact that lucha libre shows are often limited to the biggest Latino markets such as Los Angeles, Dallas, and Chicago, which is why Philadelphia was chosen. This fits into their mission statement to “expand lucha libre beyond the borders of Mexico.”

Masked Republic CEO Ruben Zamora said in the statement, “We wanted our MaskedMania card to be a true sampling of all things authentically and uniquely lucha libre. From a number of traditional ‘trios’ match to a megastar main event, from minis to exóticos, and from masked heroes to high flying acrobats, because for lucha libre fans in Philadelphia this is going to be a once in a lifetime opportunity to see live authentic lucha libre Mexicana in their own backyard, we wanted the event to deliver EVERYTHING that makes the sport of lucha libre so unique and so incredible.”
