The Latest on WWE’s Future With NBC Universal
According to Pwinsider.com, we should have a clear picture on WWE’s future with NBC Universal on May 15th. This is when NBC and other networks come together for the upfronts, and announce their future plans, including what shows are returning, debuting and so on and so forth
In past years, WWE personalities have appeared at upfronts for the different NBC Universal-owned networks that carry WWE programming, including The USA Network, SyFy and E!. Sheamus and Alberto Del Rio appeared at the USA Network upfronts in 2013. The Miz, CM Punk and others have appeared at previous upfront presentations as well.
NBC will be putting on one, united presentation this year. At this time, there are no WWE stars scheduled to appear. It should be noted that WWE is on a European tour next week, which may be why no one is announced as appearing.
WWE went through the exclusive negotiating period with NBC Universal, and once that was over in mid-February, they hit the open market to look for the best TV deal. Even if WWE gets a better offer, NBC Universal has the right to match any deal to keep WWE programming.
