ROH Results 7.12.14: Hopkins, Minnesota
Posted by Larry Csonka on 07.12.2014

Credit Jason Powell and prowrestling.net:

1. Michael Elgin and War Machine fought Matt Hardy, Adam Cole, and Michael Bennett to an apparent no-contest. The Briscoes got involved late. Elgin challenged Hardy to a title match and said he would send him packing.

Fish Tank with Fish and O'Reilly. Fish challenged Cheeseburger to a match for his tag title belt.

2. Bobby Fish (w/Kyle OReilly) beat Cheeseburger. The tag champs teased Chasing The Dragon afterward, but Cedric Alexander made the save.

3. Cedric Alexander pinned Kyle O'Reilly (w/Bobby Fish). Cedric slipped on the top rope midway through the match and appeared to land in a way that spared him from an injury. Very good match despite the slip. Crowd was red hot down the stretch.

4. The Briscoes beat BJ Whitmer and Roderick Strong (w/Tadarius Thomas). Jay pinned Strong.

Intermission

5. Jay Lethal (w/Truth Martini) beat Takaaki Watanabe in. Proving Ground match. After Lethal won clean, Romantic Touch distracted Lethal, then Matt Taven attacked him.

6. Kevin Steen pinned Tommaso Ciampa. Fun comedy early with Steen screaming for rope breaks. Steen won with the package piledriver and was one of the most over wrestlers of the night. Steen said afterward that Hopkins showed everyone what a great pro wrestling crowd is all about.

7. Silas Young beat ACH, Tadarius Thomas, and Matt Taven in four corner survival to earn an ROH TV Title shot in Milwaukee. Jimmy Jacobs gave his spot to Thomas and then scolded him afterward. Thomas held the ropes open for Jacobs, drawing boos from the crowd.

8. Michael Elgin beat Matt Hardy (w/Maria) to retain the ROH Title. Hardy gave the Iconic Title to Maria beforehand because he said he would win the ROH Title. Late in the match, Hardy hit a moonsault for a good near fall. Cole and Bennett ran out to help Hardy. Elgin overcame that and set up for his finisher, but Maria stopped him. War Machine came out. Bennett hit the ref. The Briscoes ran out to run off the heels. Elgin took exception to Jay going after Matt. Elgin applied the Crossface for the win.

Notes: As reported in the Dot Net Weekly audio show over a week ago, this is expected to be Hardy's last ROH date. A good turnout with roughly 600 in attendance. Overall, a very entertaining show with a lively crowd.
