411's LIVE ROH - Long Island Report 4.13.07
Posted by Michael Bauer on 04.14.2007

The place was packed to full capacity and let me say, this card was the best I've seen in Long Island yet.

Opening bout: Kevin Steen defeats Pelle Primeau
Steen was a freaking beast tonight and was majorly over with the crowd, even sptting in the Green Lantern guy's face, which won him over as well. Pelle was a freaking midget by comparsion. Pelle gets the early offense, Steen then dominates, a nice little comeback. Steen wins with a Steenliner followed by a Package Piledriver.

Match #2: Daizee Haze defeats Sara Del Rey
I missed most of this match because I was despearte for a drink. From what I was told, it was pretty decent. Haze won with a rollup.

Match #3: Erick Stevens wins the four corner survival match over El Generico, Jason Blade, and Eddie Edwards
I have never heard more "Olay!" chants ever, same for the "Choo Choo" chants at Stevens. Some great sequences in this match. Endinlg saw Generico hit a brainbuster on Edwards, followed by Torture rack into a neckbreaker by Blade. Blade than gets German Suplexed off the top rope by Stevens onto Generico. Stevens then finished off Blade with a Powerbomb.

After the match, Aries came out and congratulated all four men. He told Stevens to stay and asked him to be the sixth man in the elimination tag match later tonight and to join what he called The Resilence. He accepted and Strong come out. Richards and Romero come out of nowhere and attack for a three on two advantage until Cross come sout. Huge brawl to the back.

Match #4: Delirious defeats Colt Cabana
Just way too much comedy for this match. I wrote it all down, but would take forever for me to recap. Hightlights included Delirious putting on a very weak Masterlock on Colt and a huge scramble which saw Colt put on a mask, then both guys switching masks, while chasing each other under the ring. Delirious eventually wins by sitting down after a Cabana sunset slip. Before and after the match, we had tons of "Please Don't Go" and "Thank You Colt" chants. Streamers flew in for him before the match and Colt ended up leaving to a huge standing ovation.

Match #5: Claudio Castagnoli defeated Jay Briscoe (w/ Mark Briscoe)
Claudio was more over with the crowd than I expected, but not as much as the Briscoes. Great spot on the outside as Claudio bounces off the ropes and clotheslines ' Briscoe into the crowd. Tons of dueling chants all match. Claudio ended up winning clean with his version of a braibuster.

Afterwards, Claudio grabs a mic and puts his name out there for a future tag title shot with a partner of his choice. This brings out Steen and Generico who say that also desereve a shot. Mark grabs the mic and said when the doctors clear him, they get their shots. Steen ended up taking a cheap shot to the back of Mark's head, causing Jay to go nuts. Ended up being a four man brawl to the back until Jay went back to check on Mark, who looked to be in pretty bad shape.

Match #6: Brent Albright defeats Homicide
This match wasted no time spilling into the crowd and was out there for a good five minutes before they hit the ring, at which point Julius Smokes got tossed fropm ringside. A ton of stiff shots throughout the whole match. Albright wins after two half nelson suplexes. After the match, Shane Hagadorn coems out and attacks Homicide, but Smokes comes back and beats the crap out of Shane. They finish Shane off with a spike piledriver onto a steel chair.

Match #7: Jack Evans defeats SHINGO
Very fast paced match to start out as Jack Evans was his usual flashy self. I think Evans even called SHINGO a tattoo monkey. Evans wins with his amazing 630 splash.

Match #8: Roderick Strong, Davey Richards & Rocky Romero defeat Austin Aries, Matt Cross & Erick Stevens
No Remorse Corps easily had the most heel heat tonight. This was the elimination tag team match and to everyone's surprise, not a single person on the No Remorse Corps were eliminated. Stevens was out first after Strong drilled him with a double underhook powerbomb. Matt Cross was next after a double underhook reverse powerbomb from Richards. Lastly, Romero pinned Aries with a Tiger Suplex Pin. They started choking out Aries after the match, but Delirious ran them off with a Secion C sign.

Match #9: Nigel McGuinness & Doug Williams defeated ROH World Champion Takeshi Morishima & Chris Hero with Larry Sweeney & Tank Toland
Let me say one thing. Morishima is alot smaller than I imagined height wise, but the guy a freaking house. Still, the guy someone did a cartwheel into a kick to the face, so he has got skills. Hero had the second most heel heat and it wasn't even close compared to the No Remorse Corps. Nigel pins hero after a second lariat nearly took his head off.
