Kurt Angle Beats Brock Lesnar In Japan
Posted by Ashish on 06.29.2007

Kurt Angle and Brock Lesnar met for the first time since WrestleMania 19 today in Tokyo, Japan as part of the debut show for Antonio Inoki's IGF promotion.

Angle beat Lesnar with the Ankle Lock to win the IWGP Championship.

After the match, Angle said he would give Lesnar a rematch but wanted it an MMA match and wanted it to happen soon, saying he is now 38 years old.

There is a bit of controversy surrounding the IWGP belt. The Title is actually a New Japan title which Lesnar won back in 2005. In July, Lesnar refused to return or defend the title because he said he was owed money by New Japan. New Japan responded by holding a tournament and crowing a new IWGP Champion. Of course, Lesnar still kept the title. Antonio Inoki, the founder of New Japan, recently split with them and started his own new promotion, IGF. He claimed that Lesnar was still the IWGP Champion because he was never beaten for the belt, thus the Lesnar/Angle match being for the IWGP Title. New Japan has already threatened IGF with legal action since they own the trademark to IWGP.
