Posted by Armando Rodriguez on 01.07.2008
Carlos Colon speaks with a local newspaper about the situation that happened on the weekend, plus we get an update on Apolo and Eddie Colon's WWE future.
- PrimeraHora.com, a site for a local newspaper ran a story regarding the events that happened between WWC and IWA in the weekend. The article is basically a summary of all the information that I reported already, but adds some interesting bits of info:
- During the argument outside the stadium at the IWA show, Mario Savoldi, the president of IWA, said that Biggie would not hand the belt back to WWC until they pay him the money they owe him.
- Amazona and Morena spoke to the newspaper about why they where in the crowd at an IWA show when they are WWC talent. Amazona was quoted as saying that they where not booked to compete in the WWC show and where just visiting friends and spending time as fans. She refused to answer wether she would be back in WWC or if she had agreed to remain in IWA.
The article also features Carlos Colon reacting to the events. Here are the more relevant bits:
(Be aware that this is a translation from spanish)
Regarding the Universal Title:
"He has until Tuesday to hand it over. If he fails to hand over the title, we will seek legal action. He was not the champion when he left, we had declared that title vacant after the happenings at Lock-Out and we had determined that he would face Black Pain at Euphoria to crown a new champion. Therefore, he was never recognized as the champion and he cannot defend a title that is not his. Also we do not owe him any money because he did not compete this weekend."
On Moody Melendez
"The reality of the situation is that our ratings on TV had dropped since Moody and La Rabia where featured. At first they where high because the concept was new, but eventually it scared away the people that came to see our family entertainment with their hardcore attitude and their references to drug and alcohol use. We already had plans to phase them out and eventually fire Moody, he found out from other sources and quit his job. We knew those people would follow him out and we feel we dont need them to be sucessful"
On the Universal Title
"We feel there is no rush to crown a new champion. We need to si down this week to discuss the strategy we are taking with the title, but we are in no rush. We need to recover the prestige the title once had by finding somebody worthy to represent us as our champion. In all likelyhood, we will have a multiple man tournament with talent coming the world over to fight for the title. But we have no rush and we will crown a new champion when the time is right."
On Bryan to IWA
"The rumors are false. Bryan is still in WWC and he called to tell us that he was still a part of this company. He expressed his disgust for what Biggie did and he told Jose Roberto he was staying with us"
On who will replace Moody
"Jose Rivera(Sr) will be taking over the duties that Moody had."
On Eddie Colon and WWE
"Eddie will leave this week for Tampa. He will be working in one of the WWE's affiliated promotions. I am only speculating, but the idea is to pair Eddie and Carlito at some point"
- In other news, it was confirmed that Apolo left Puerto Rico today on his way to New York to take a physical. According to an unamed source close to the wrestler, he is on track to join the WWE in February and he will be a part of Raw.
