More WWE News: Jeff Hardy/Chamber, Fax Axxess In Toronto, Rumble Entrances, More
Posted by Ashish on 01.22.2008

- JBL & Randy Orton vs. Jeff Hardy & Chris Jericho is the dark main event for RAW this Monday in Philadelphia.

- Thanks to Adam Lebow for sending in the following: WWE Canada announced that the Fan Axxess tour will be coming to Toronto for 2 stints this year, both at the Vaughan Mills Shopping Center which is just north of Toronto (in Woodbridge/Vaughan) Ironically, the outside shops of the Vaughan Mills complex, known as The Village at Vaughan Mills (so the business not in the mall, but in the parking lot area that back onto the surrounding streets) is where Trish Stratus has her new Yoga Studio, Stratusphere Yoga, opening in the not so distant future. The dates are Saturday, February 2nd from noon-8pm and Sunday, March 2nd from 11am-7pm. I wonder if Trish will have the yoga studio ready to open to coincide with one of the two dates. If she did an autograph session, it would be a great way for her to get some people in the front door.

- WWE's No Way Out site features the photo of Jeff Hardy and the Elimination Chamber discussed on the site a few days ago.

- It appears that this year, the Royal Rumble participants will enter the match at 90 second intervals. The last time they had 90 second intervals was in 2006.

- Candie Michelle will get her first tattoo on LA Ink tonight on TLC.

what are you talking about the last time they had 90 second intervals it was 2006? They have had the last time they had two minute intervals was 2002, and before that it was. it was like 97-98

Nate makes no sense. Do people actually read their comments before they hit that Submit Comment button? I prefer fast and furious Royal Rumbles with 30 seconds entrants. Much more chaotic.

Ok hows this then. The last time that the Rumble had entrants that WERENT 90 seconds was 2002, and 2001. The years before that was 90 seconds again all the way back to 1995 when it was 1 minute, and then 2 minutes before that year.

They never enter in at whatever interval they say anyway .. as soon as they think they match is dragging, they throw another one out there. Time it sometimes, they NEVER come out at whatever interval they state.

I always liked the 2 minute intervals better. That way the match goes over an hour, and you always have that one guy who stays in there forever (and sometimes wins too).

I agree, 2 minutes is better. I didnt like it in 95 where they had 1 minute intervals, and i beleive that rumble was rated worst ever?

Read through Randle's news column, that will give you the various times in his Rumble reviews. Even Piper commented one year that the clock seemed to be speeding up

I have to agree with Rik Bone. Perhaps the reason I didn't understand the post was because I don't speak street slang - at least not fluently.

I hope the tattoo that she's getting covers her ugly face.

The worst Rumble was 1999. Too much stupid shit, dead space, and jobbers. You had Stone Cold and Vince as the first entrants and then sitting out the whole match, Vince winning after sitting out the whole thing, Mabel getting kidnapped by The Acolytes, cutting way from the rumble to show Austin getting jumped by the Corporation backstage, and Austin hijacking an ambulance at the exact moment that Mabel was getting loaded into a hearse.

Gotta agree with the disappointment at the 90 second entry. I wish Vince would figure out that the cool thing about the Royal Rumble is... well the Royal Rumble match. Funnily enough. The shorter the entry the less important the match and the more I feel ripped off.

It's like when they do a Survivors Series with nothing but a token Survivors Series match in.

I'm guessing Vince isn't a big fan of Dark Side of the Moon either.

I agree with JJ about the the 99 Rumble; it was all about getting Vince to the end from the #2 spot without Austin killing him, so that's what all that extra crap was going on. You also knew the no one else was going to win so that was what they focused on, and it was silly but the people did eat it up. On another note, I do agree that the one-minute interval from 95 was too quick and not enough time for the wrestlers in the ring to tell a decent story. Wasn't that also the year that Shawn Michaels won from the #1 spot that the WWE keeps touting that he did something "no one's done before" like Shawn usually does? Granted, I like the guy, but Rey Mysterio and Chris Benoit made it to the end with the 90-second intervals. I don't think they even really mention Flair winning it in 92 from #3 at the full two-minute intervals, and that was a good Rumble. However, if they mentioned that, that just makes Shawn's win less spectacular, and you don't want to do that to HBK. Anyways, I think it just depends on the year, who's in it, and how it's booked as to whether the 90 seconds or the 2 minutes works. I would personally prefer it if it were two minutes with only the World Title matches and a good opening match as being the only things on the card before the Rumble itself.
